she went through such an enormously traumatic experience seeing her son horrifically injured like that, and then having to go through cancer right after, it's no wonder she turned to surrounding herself with soft comforting teddy bears. i don't know where her delusions are coming from, if that's late-onset schizophrenia or a sign of dementia or something else, but i really hope she sticks with the counseling and is able to process her trauma and come back to reality. she has a beautiful home and it would be such a shame if it can't stay that way.

She describes what she does with the Bears: she cuddles them. When she feel sad. But this can't be all that matters about it, cause she needed always a new Bear. All the Bears she had already did not help her! Some Problem with her Father and Protection I guess.
Maybe as she think someone is in the House stealing her Bears, this might be a reminder on the Accident that harmed her Son and ended her Carrear (together with her Cancer). For me it is clear that Hoarding was not her first Problem, it was how she tried to heal her Life.
After many Years she felt more and more sad so she wanted a Change. I hope the After Care Therapy will bring her real Issues to Light and turn this Energy for Good. For her to be free! ❤❤❤

I dont like how the therapist dealt with her, seeing her teddy bears outside really put her in distress. And he felt so distant and stand offish, like he was just there to observe and diagnose, not interact and intervene.

As one who has collected a few bears in my life, she has an immense collection of valuable bears there. Did they try to even sell them on EBay? They could have made back some good money on them. Poor thing probably has a form of dementia from her previous cancer issue. Don't know if there is anyone in the home but hopefully therapy and the right meds will see her through this.

You have to wonder if some of these people with therapy get medication and that will help them to get better. Since hoarding is a form of OCD there is medication that can help treat OCD along with cognitive behavioral therapy. You have to help if these people will get that kind of treatment.

Note: re an episode of “Hoarders”, the teddy bear collector. I’ve got OCD, too, but mine doesn’t manifest itself that way. I do, however, take an OTC medicine for my OCD. It’s called NAC. It does help. But all the initials involved are crazy-making for me! 😂!

When the son started his hand injury story i assumed it happened when he was 10--14 but instead he was in his last year of hs so 17-19. What 17 year old plays with at least a cherry bomb size firework indoors with no place to throw it. If he was outside then ok he was a kid being stupid but indoors at his age is just inexcusable.

Such a bummer when hoarders get their hands on a big space. It is overwhelming for them, and a huge burden for the loved ones. Hoarding of any size is a burden. Big hoards is crushing. God bless these teams. Saying someone is stealing her bears. Oh boy. Fix it Jesus!
