5:00 Once you lose all you have, you will never stop and think of those moment. But know you take all as it should be. Your body, your soul. But when it's gone forever, it's gone possibly forever.
Mteto Maphoyi is such a beautiful and inspiring person. We can all learn so much from his experiences - from both his troughs and peaks in life. What makes me so inspired by Mteto, is how much he values others over himself - how selfless his is. This is something which I feel is a necessity for everyone to strive for in society today. It's the power of listening that will unite people together and make this world a better place in the future.
Such a touching story. Going through so much and still being so positive and wanting to learn and help his friends learn.. hes an inspiration and a wonderful singer. :)
when they showed the clip of him and his friends singing and then the gang a couple feet away, it felt like they were singing a very tragic soundtrack to it... made me tear up :/ very touching!!
Your story is truly inspiring, Bhuti. Please continue to represent the Xhosa tribe well. Thank you for sharing with us; please do more of these in the future. I like the fact you keep reminding us it wasn't easy whilst you have the brightest smile enkosi siyabulela.🙏

That's actually a paraphrasing, misattributed to Ghandi. He expressed those sentiments, but he was not the first and he was a little more verbose about it. Still a wonderful sentiment I prefer to propagate and carry with me always.
westsi1 erm he LISTENED to the CD his father left - and as a result became an operatic singer with no formal training - who also taught his friends to do so - despite his circumstances which has now lead him - despite being stabbed in the face and neck - to having an amazing career, going to one of the top schools, being in an amazing ensemble - at the age of 23 - and is now doing a TED talk which you perhaps weren't 'listening' to ? 🤷♀️
A handsome and intelligent young man. May God bless him.

I think that when his father left his home, broke his heart, but it was the best thing he could do for his son.
This is truely emotional. Sometime we think we experienced the worst, until we hear other people stories
