Why Terry Brooks isn't on everyone's top ten favourite authors list is beyond me. Like you, the Sword of Shannara is where it all started for so many of us. Be well, stay safe!

I have nothing against Terry Brooks, but it’s sort of easy to see why.
He basically started out because he realized he could make a lot of money by making an easy-reading lord of the rings. He deviated from that structure afterward, but it’s hard to shake that reputation.
He’s also said he used his books to discuss social issues like climate change. Which is fine, but I’ve never gotten the idea that his writing came from an artistic spark. Again. Nothing wrong with that but I think that’s what keeps him from many people’s top tens.

You're such a big kid. Love this channel! The holy trinity for me growing up was Feist, Edding & Brooks

You should do a video where you recommend what order we should read the Shannara Universe books. Love your videos, btw!

Terry doesn't get enough respect, the man literally saved the fantasy genre when it was about to be taken off of life support.

It’s been a long time since I read those books. Sword felt a little like Star Wars, which was a massive compliment at the time. I recall liking Elfstones the best. Loved the covers. All of Sweets covers were epic. I read a lot of Jack Chalker because of his covers

Ditto. I was exactly 10 when it came out and it was the first book I bought. I tried reading LOTR but I was too young and couldn’t do it. I knew the story because they had that cool cartoon movie back then. The Sword of Shannara was like the LOTR shoved into one book that I could read. I read that thing like 3 times in a row when I got it. I still have it. I have the cover taped on. I found the First King of Shannara at a house I was renting in the Florida Keys on vacation and read that thing while I was supposed to be on a beach vacation and took it home with me.

I have all the Terry Brooks novels. They are currently all packed in boxes which is frustrating as my teenage nephews are just the right age for the Sword of Shannara.
The first trilogy in the Shannara cycle is the Word and the Void.

The Sword of Shannara was also the first fantasy novel I bought with my own money. It is still one of my favorite books of all time. I have the mass market paperback versions of the series and hope to get to reading all of them soon. So far have read the original trilogy and First King. The Landover series was great, I hope he writes more of those.

I have not read Tery Brooks in forever but I have collected his books. I originally read the first trilogy out of order. I found Elfstones in the lager paperback edition then Wishong in the same. Then Sword in that same paperback you have there. I did grab his non-Shanara books as well except Phantom Menace. There is a Paladins of Shanara kindle series of short stories that I have not seen in any print form and have so far passed on.

I bought Angel Fire East at a recent Library Book Sale not realizing it was #3 in its series. I had no idea it was connected to Shannara either, just saw Terry Brooks and wanted to try another by him. When I read Sword of Shannara, I don't think I was ready for epic fantasy. Now that I've read more I want to try it again.

Freak’n dope!! It baffles me how you get all these books signed… how do you track these authors down?? I have so many books I would love to get signed by the authors. Is it just a matter of going to their website and seeing their upcoming promotional tours ??
