You could try Mr. clean Magic eraser around the white of the upper rim. It should help in restoring that back to white if that’s just surface soil. Beautiful pair, they sound great. Nice post.
We had the same color pair when I was a kid. I remember when we first got it pushing the buttons and my uncle asking me if I was going to play piano on it. I still have the washer in the garage, it was working fine when I put it there. The repair man told me if the timer went out it couldn't be replaced any more, so I went to Sears and bought Mom a new one. Thanks for the vid.
We had the EXACT same machine in my house growing up. The only difference was the part where you add the detergent that lid was silver not green. And the panel above the button lit up.
Those old school ones put these modernized junk to shame ! Great wash action ! The good thing is you do your own repairs ect those don’t have none of computer crap 💩. Great looking set ! I’d hold on to it & keep them running ! Those are very well built ! Solid as Sears ! That was Sears slogan !
These are in the condition I got them in. They are going to a loving home in NC where they WILL get a full restoration! The camera has a wrist strap just for those slippery finger moments... The slide control is for the water level and the slide control on the dryer is for the volume of the buzzer...
My number of machines changes frequently as I have them come in thru our shop's 'haulaway pile'. I have 4 Kenmore machines at the moment but they will be going to a good friend in NC for his collection where they will recieve a full restoration.
My Maytags are now 18 years old and never needed servicing. This shows me I don't have to bey another set for at least the next 20 years! They will probably out live me.
Does anybody know all the agitators that were with the lady Kenmore series for instance the veriflex agitator was that also with a lady Kenmore or just a 900 series
Wow! What a beautiful machine. I wish they still made them that well. You can tell by the water that the machine cleans superbly by the amount of dirt that seems to be getting pulled off of the clothes. What kind of detergent did you use? Is either low sudsing or do you have hard water. In any event those clothes are coming out really clean.
i used to have that same washer only in white had the same agitator it may have not looked like much with no agitator base but it sure got the clothes clean i never had one problem with it in fact i wish i still had it considering anything is better then todays plastic junk.
I forget what they call that one but according to advertising it "Spanks your clothes clean". All the older Kenmores were made by WP, but with more features and buttons.
Yep, this model featured the K cap scrubber / measuring cup combo, my Grandmothers 1966 Lady K was brown, and it featured a white basket, lighted chrome control panel with idiot lights, the agitator was black with long ribbed neck and Roto-swirl veins.
what kind of camera do you use and editing software Im using a kodak easyshare dx6490 camera and roxio easy media creator 7 and before the videos played in real time like yours but now my washer videos look like they were filmed with a cell phone camera and are crappy.

My Kenmore glass cooktop melted, Sears denied warranty claim and told me I shoudn't cook food on "High heat". What's next don't put wet close in a dryer?
Solldema Baden Of course the clothes get clean like that. It doesn't take 2 hours to wash clothes or boiling Temps to get whites white. A top loader with an effective agitator will do the job in half an hour.
I am kinda low tech as far as that goes. I use a Cannon 1100 elph (I think that's the model) and Windows Movie Maker. I've been pleased how my Cannon does with video.
Those old washers really washed and laundry didn't come out smelling with mold and mildew like today's so called "he" washers. They also used electro-mechanical controls that could be repaired by a smart mechanic instead of having to buy an expensive microcomputer board that costs almost 1/2 the price of a new machine. Also, are there stores that still sell replacement parts for these old relics? If you're mechanically inclined, it would be better to buy an old machine and overhaul it instead of buying a new expensive and ineffective "he" machine.
+Dewey Jacks I just bought a pair of Speed Queen "conventional" washers (that actually fill the tub 13" deep) for our homeowner's association. They wash thoroughly on the first try and don't stink like old gym socks. Hope the government will keep nose out of the appliance industry and not outlaw Speed Queen's conventional machines.
it's because I can spit more fluid than what today's washers use in water.. I don't know what genius thought to try to make a washing machine that uses practically no water but any 1st grader will know it takes water to wash laundry... When I have to deal with these waterless washers I have actually resorted to washing my clothes in the bathtub by hand a few times.. and they came out cleaner..
BJ. Akbari it drains first because they were designed to do this. they do this because there is a neutral drain plate inside the transmission that is enagaged when told to do so by the timer, which then holds onto the big gear in the transmission to prevent it from spin draining. after a while it is disengaged by the timer and the washer starts spinning.
its made to do a neutral drain first and then after the timer increments into the spin portion it dissengages the neutral drain assembly in the transmission (the only mechanical difference between an old direct drive and an old belt drive is the motor is connected to the transmission using a drive belt and pulleys
Hays Coleman I would say there’s quite a bit more difference, in a direct drive the motor reverses to engage draining and spinning in the old belt drives the motor stays in one direction and the gearing (wig/wag) is what engages the draining and spinning.
FL son, they heat the water to the desired temp, which make detergents work better. More rinses so textiles are softer, and suffer less fiber abrasion. BTW Deustchland makes the best ya'll. Aufwiderschen.

great agitation and rollover... one of Kenmore's best machines
I would buy one of these today if they still made them this way, seriously. Gorgeous machines; and they do the job without any fuss or hassle
What color?
The sounds this washer's transmission makes when in operation is music to my ears. My mom's 1965 Whirlpool sounded exactly the same.
Thanks for commenting! The agitator without the base was called the 'RotoFlex'
Looks like it was a good agitator
I like the scrubber top of the agitator. Great for "ring-around-the-Collar!"
Great wash action. My moms machine had the black agitator which was the roto swirl
Boy ive rebuilt and sold a LOT of those! Wish I had some of them back!!
this is an awesome set. and I just love avacado green.
I totally agree with you cphifer5115! I totally agree, and I think it's my favorite set!! LOL!!
Love it, and the Woo , Woo,
Sounds.

Such a beautiful pair! What a great turnover for such a simple agitator!
Yes indeed. My sister's grandmother had this same pair in a cooper tone color.
Brent Audi vas a cuidar al pez betta por favor porque ya tiene hambre es macho Camacho Avísame cualquier cosa que pase por favor
Can't wait to get these home! They are patiently waiting as of now in California for a truck coming east.
That's a cool agitator. I've never seen one like that before.

"Woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo" very distinctive.
We had a Kenmore washing machine in my house growing up. I definitely remember that woo woo sound.
This brings back so many memories. I wish they made washers like this again.

Mine is 37.
Does this washer have suspension hooks inside the tub?
Marshall H. Three suspension rods hanging from the cabinet to the base of the mechanism.
Now THAT is a washer!
Does anybody know all the agitators that were with the lady Kenmore series for instance the veriflex agitator was that also with a lady Kenmore or just a 900 series
Lady Kenmore agitators.
1. Original Roto swirl
2. Super Rotor Swirl
3. Roto flex
4. Vari-flex
5.Penta swirl agitator
6. Dual action agitator
yeah, it could use a little cleaning up, but I sure wish I could buy this set.
we used to have one of these in 1968
Wow! What a beautiful machine. I wish they still made them that well. You can tell by the water that the machine cleans superbly by the amount of dirt that seems to be getting pulled off of the clothes.

This looks like the washer on Married with Children.

We had the 800 model with the alphabet cycle selector great machine
Needs to be cleaned, painted and kept in great shape it’s a classic
Paint it avocado green again! That's my favorite color on old vintage appliances!
Yep, this model featured the K cap scrubber / measuring cup combo, my Grandmothers 1966 Lady K was brown, and it featured a white basket, lighted chrome control panel with idiot lights, the agitator was black with long ribbed neck and Roto-swirl veins.

kansasthunderman1 we had a 1979 Kenmore 80 series washer. My mother recently moved and left the old vintage washer
+kansasthunderman1 they have. Check out the 2018 speed queen washers.
kansasthunderman1 c h
My Aunt had one of these in copper tone. Lasted her nearly 30 years, she got rid of it because all the control panel keys began to malfunction.
She probably should have kept it.
Do you really have to wash those stuff
I miss Therese washers.
IT NEEDS A LIGHT ON IT
Cloudsss s it has a fluorescent light bulb in the timer panel, they were hard to keep working.
this is an old washer, why drains first, not during spin cycle? it's interesting
any idea would be great
I really don't know anything about this washer, but thank you for answer.
BJ
It probably drains first so the weight is less when it spins.
its made to do a neutral drain first and then after the timer increments into the spin portion it dissengages the neutral drain assembly in the transmission (the only mechanical difference between an old direct drive and an old belt drive is the motor is connected to the transmission using a drive belt and pulleys

during adgitation
That agitator is so blatantly phallic. Jeeez!

Doesn’t need one
Das sind Waschmaschinen zu den Omas Zeiten sollche Waschmaschinen gibt es in Europa kaum !!! Da gibt es die Vollautomatischen Trommelwaschmaschinen!!!
Arnold Wieser
Could you translate please.
That woo woo
Now that's a washing machine.
I saw this same machine in a horror movie. It was in the basement scene.
yo tengo una igual y todavia trabaja higual
FL son, they heat the water to the desired temp, which make detergents work better. More rinses so textiles are softer, and suffer less fiber abrasion. BTW Deustchland makes the best ya'll. Aufwiderschen.
what happened to the rest of agitator?
+tb717 There is no more, that's the way it was designed.
tb717 that's all there is of it,its made that way!
Who showed you how to load a washer? LOL!
The old wig wag style.
Maybe a few more clothes will calm the rocking of the water.
Those old washers were overdesigned and they had room for excess capacity.
Thats a kenmore.
