This crossing was filmed on its first day of operation with a brand new automated system, comprised of; new barriers, new alarms, new controls and two new warning lights (one narrow light and one pedestrian light). The level crossing was previously a manually-operated one with swing gates. It was upgraded after Wateringbury level crossing - which was renewed just before Christmas in 2018.

Yeah it did look very different. Over four years this crossing has been like this now and I still remember the day filming it for the first time.

Yeah, the panel is next to the crossing, in-front of the signal box. There are a few buttons to lower, raise and clear the signals (crossing clear).
