Act of possession is very important when it comes to land protection in Ghana. The common Law will protect you that.

The thing I am concerned about most is how the lease renewal will go in the future (god willing I am still alive). I dont want my children to have the land taken from them or charged a ridiculius amount to keep it.

      Valid concern.
When we pay $17,000 in property taxes yearly in America for our property, we are completely fine with it. When the property gets passed on to your kids in the West, they have to pay their property taxes or they will lose it.
99 years of $17,000 yearly property tax is more than $1.6 million, I know the renewal in Ghana won’t be that unreasonable.
I hope this helps. The leasing system is best for Ghana and I will explain why in a video.

@@rushasare I am from the UK and I would be lying if I said I had any clue how owning land works here 😅 There could be similar things in place to be honest. But thanks for the reply brother, I look forward to that video. Keep doing your thing. Soon link 👊🏽

We've lost all desire for buying in Ghana. The year of the return and promises made to the diaspora appears to be all smoke and mirrors. How dreadful

I vehemently disagree with your statement that the Year of Return policy has been a flop. Buying a piece of land requires due diligence. Have you forgotten the common adage "buyer beware"?

Do your due diligence and be firm with the sellers. You need to put up something on the land as soon as you buy it.
