For those running on react-native version >= 0.69.x, Since link is deprecated so react-native link will not work anymore, the command react-native link is replaced by npx react-native-asset.

I faced the same problem, apparently since React 0.60 link is no longer needed. I had to run npx react-native-asset command which installed the latest react-native-assets package then it worked. Hopefully this helps

I think react-native link is no more supported
So You have to run npx react-native-assets instead to link all the assets

however, i can not use the font family. by the font family wasn’t added to : app/src/main/asset/fonts!!!!
