    It's absolutely wonderful what you ❤️ are doing. I am armchair quarter backing, but where are the logging companies? There are some huge trees that could be lifted out and hauled off to lumber yards for processing later.

    Lylagothard, I was thinking the same. After Helena here in Florida one guy with a big winch pulled 47 light poles out of the Suwannee river at the mouth where it flows into the gulf. Granted some were broken but they were taken to a sawmill and squared up into 6" X 6" post. Great for barn building!

    I'm thankful that most people are OK, and sad for the ones that lost their lives. I'm lucky to live in a less hard hit area of SW VA. Nobody could have predicted this, or at least they didn't. It probably would have taken a Meteorologist, a Geologist, and Topographer plus input from Locals that know the Area Collaborating to halfway predict the Dangerous flooding, landslides, and huge areas of downed trees, plus structural damage. I'm thankful for the way that Everyone that Could pitched in to Help and continue to do so. My heart goes out to everyone living there and the Businesses hard hit. Big Thanks and Gratitude to those 'boots on the ground' and the many Private helicopter operators that helped rescue and deliver supplies, and ALL that are helping in so many ways to restore access, and bring basic needs to Folks now in dire need . Thanks to people Donating, and all the acts of kindness and collaboration. I really hope everyone is getting towards feeling hopeful and loved..

    Jake is a good good man! Really amazing what he is doing! Instead of asking for donations for his own for all the work he has done free. It really is so selfless! That man has a heart that is the best of man kind! Thanks for sharing!! I hope he gets overwhelmed with donations to recoup the time lost from work! One could never put a monetary value on what he has done. Hourly wages plus hope when there wasn't any is priceless! That is why I know he is doing the work of the man upstairs. Not only has he not asked for himself he asked for someone else. One class act! Testimony going on right before our eyes, in real time! God is so good! Blessings!

    Could some of the big trees be milled into lumber for rebuilding? It might be worth a try

    • @ericfielding2540
      @ericfielding2540 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It seems that the trees are all hardwood, but the lumber used for building houses is almost all pine and spruce these days. They use hardwood more for furniture, paneling, flooring, etc. where the wood will be visible and needs durability.

    • @cardiacjunkie
      @cardiacjunkie 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@ericfielding2540You can still use those hardwoods for building homes. They don't bc it's expensive. Oak for instance, once dry and sealed it will last forever. My dad's front porch is made of oak and it outlasted the treated lumber I had used for one of my own, it's been 10yrs since mine was rebuilt and his is still solid.

    I am so confused. The youtuber "Living in Asheville" says that the devastation in Asheville and surrounding areas is exaggerated. She implied that people are only showing a tiny bit of the area over and over. She said people should come visit now because all the restaurants are giving away free food. She showed a free concert with people dancing, and she showed nice houses while saying these people never lost power or water. She implied all was fine. She implied that the death and destruction was greatly exaggerated. I don't get it. Was this just a little pocket in N.C where 30 or so people lost their homes? The governor says that 800 roads have already been rebuilt and except for a handful of people, everybody has access to what they need. What is the truth?

    I don't want to say I've *enjoyed* watching your videos, but they have been helpful in seeing the things that are happening there. I have made some financial contributions to a couple of organizations, but as you have pointed out, there are administrative costs associated with them.
    On the other hand, having been the fortunate recipient of a GFM account in the past, I would like to point out that 100% of the contributions to a GFM account do not go to the recipient. They take a percentage of each donation as well for their costs.
    Also, I have a question about the GFM account mentioned here: if the donations are for Maggie, why are the recipients listed as Shirley and Cody Chamberlain? Who are they? There have been numerous warnings of false accounts set up for hurricane victims, which gives me pause here. For that reason, I'm sorry to say, I'm out. 😢
