Exactly! I was like, umm, You are making want the bike even more. I wanted to see if there was a reason not to invest in one, but, now I want it even more. Not complaining, just annoying they use misleading video covers and titles. Almost like click bait.
For long distance touring I was ALWAYS take my Road Glide Limited. I think a lot of people will share this opinion, since it’s one of the most popular models in the current HD lineup. IMO.
Dave I would agree with you! Of course personal preference always comes into play. That’s a give in. Let’s all keep in mind storage is great to have, however it’s a motorcycle not an suv. You can always buy one of those silly looking European bikes with the gigantic aluminum looking boxes mounted on them right? The wind and handling debate? This has been going on for years. It’s just personal preference. In fact, many people discussing this don’t even know what their talking about. The bike sits in the garage and isn’t rode very often. I work with exotic cars and motorcycles. I have customers touring Harley’s with literally 1800 miles on them. Of course these guys and girls talk up a storm during the season about riding and handling. Ladies and Gentlemen, Purchase the bike you like but makes sure it fits you mechanically and comfortably. A 900 pound lead sled isn’t always the answer for people. Different bikes for different likes! Have a safe riding season brothers and sisters! Thank you for the video and the work that went into it.
and its wind tunnel tested. The faster it goes the smother it rides. I was going to but 2018 CVO street glide, took it for a ride on the highway. Went past a tractor trailer. The fairing took the bike all over the road from the wind turbulence. You need two hands on the handle bar. NOT the road glide a little from being pushed like any cross wind. I bought my 2006 RG. I will never ride a fairing mounted bike NEVER. The only issue I had was the headlights. Had the old element bulbs. Add the led. Problem fixed. I still own it with 99k.
I’ve had my RGS for 4 years now. Ive had ultra limited, SGS, and a Heritage. None of these bikes compare to the ride and stability I have with my RGS. I love the stability of cruising down the road and not be blown around by gusts of wind or the wind wash coming from tractor trailers. I just glide right on by, no problem. If I were to pick 1 downfall for the RGS, it would be that some times it can be a bit of a challenge to maneuver in tight spaces due to its weight and the size of the fairing. Otherwise, I have absolutely no complaints about it. I love my bike and have had MANY compliments on it. I’ve even convinced buddies of mine to get one.
Currently have almost 100k on my RG, best bike I've ever ridden, although my Shovel and Dyna are equally fun in their own environments. I watched to see if there was something I was unaware of, waist of time! Why the clickbait??
I demoed the Road Glide Special and loved it. But I couldn’t afford the 30K price. Bought a Low Rider S instead as the base model Road Glide just doesn’t exist around here
Harley-Davidson has a history of taking parts off their motorcycles charging more painting of a different color giving them a different name but it's still short-changing their customer. The older Harleys were a real motorcycle. You had crash bars front and rear as well as crash bars wrapped around saddlebags to protect them from damage in case you went down. They are noticeably missing from the Road Glide as well as the tour pack the guard rail around that the lights on that Defender light all the things they took off and then charge you extra. Imagine if you had a car and the company took half of the things away painted in a different color and charged one and a half times the price of the regular car with all the pieces I took off and that's hardly in a nutshell
After Indian is killing it with such a great machines, I would not even look at HD. The only one, and only one I ever liked, was the V-Rod. I would open my checkbook for an Indian, for sure!
My only issue with the Harley touring bikes is the gear indicator not being visible with the clutch pulled in. However, I am use to not having it anyway. It would be convenient to be visible all the time though. Yep, the lean angle is less than a sport bike, but not really similar offerings provided by Yamaha, or Kawasaki. Though the Honda does have a slight advantage. The Harley touring bikes with a 19" front, and 18" rear wheel do not handle as well in my opinion as the FLHTK model which has 18" wheels front and back. I have never once felt like a "Hippopotamus" while lumbering through the twisties on a Harley touring bike as suggested in the video however. It handles as well in these areas as any of the other similar offerings. The transmission is agricultural. However, I would rather it be both tactile, and audible than squishy, and silent like a Goldwing, or Kawasaki. On the road, the Goldwings do offer much better relief from wind. This is at the cost of feeling like you are in a car, rather than feeling the freedom of being on a bike. The Yamaha, and Kawasaki offerings are very similar to the Harley in this reguard. Which is why I like their offerings so much. There is a major issue I have with these offerings from all the manufacturers. In my opinions they should all offer a fork mounted fairing for their designs. I am not fond of fixed fairings when entering in, and out of camp areas, or fairly wooded areas at low speeds. This is because of the direction the headlights are facing in relation to where I am turning the bike. It is also because I feel the stability in higher winds for fixed fairing bikes is not as good as on a fork mounted fairing. Wind forced against a fork mounted fairing helps aid in stabilizing the front of the bike. The fixed fairing seems to want to dart around slightly more in my opinion, though better than no fairing at all. As for saddlebag storage. The top load feature lends itself better for not dumping your belongings out of the saddlebags when opened. The shape of the bags, though other offerings may have slightly larger capacities, lends itself better to storing more items, more securely as aftermarket organizers can be mounted more conveniently. I can still fit half helmets in both saddlebags, with jackets, and gloves, while also still having room for groceries if need be, or spare clothing for longer trips. If you sprung for a Harley with a Tour Pack as I did, you will also find that it is the only tour pack on the market that offers the ability to store two full faced helmets with room to spare. Other offerings only have room enough to comfortably fit a single full face helmet, and you won't be stuffing a full face into their saddlebags either. Just my opinion. Enjoy.
I shift without any noise or clunk on my 03 Dyna, the only time it has a clunk is the first shift into 1st in the morning. But I have 70,000 miles on the bike.
Nothing more than a biased, sponsored commercial. Unfortunately there aren’t many experts out there that provide true honest opinions. Love my Harley though.
Part of the reason I did not buy the cvo trike , that front tire , hard to find , wave washers under the the front rotors don’t last , have a street glide I know this as fact , so bought the regular trike .
The road glide is wind tunnel tested.
A friend pointed out on another friends bike what looks like a bolt missing on kickstand mount, so now we all start looking but have no idea. It’s threaded rusted so been out for a while, it looks like it could be a reservoir for oil to keep the pivoting oiled but can’t find an answer online, also watching videos hoping I can see if others have what is missing and just catch a glimpse even but nothing. Can someone please help last thing my buddy needs is an accident happening hurting him or others,
The comments are as off topic as the title for the video. If you don't like Harleys why are you here? If you want to tell everyone what you ride and how much money you spent on it there are other channels for that or simply use your own social media pages to advertise your awesomeness. Road glide vs street glide will never end its an ongoing battle of preference. Harley touring pricing is on par with other touring bikes. Metric touring bikes are faster but they still aren't Harleys.
Never cared for HD bikes, outdated & over hyped. Those M8 engines use similar tech that yamaha used on their flagship cruisers from 2006 & like victory too.
Would be helpful if you knew what you were speaking of. The M8 was released in 2017, not 16. Possibly a simple mistake but if your going to compare things , make sure you have the facts straight
I've ridden and road tested many different bikes. I own an Ultra Limited, and chose fork mounted fairing over the Road Glide series as the frame mounted fairing changes air flow coming up between the forks. It's personal preference. I have heard many say once you own a Road Glide, you won't own anything but. It's also said that on the highway, the fixed fairing offers more stability while cruising in the vicinity of 18 wheelers. I just don't find it that different in highway speed cruising, or handling. For me the Fork mounted fairing just manages the air better in my opinion.
Triumph Rocket can come factory with bags. What’s your point? Honda makes a dependable bike, but like almost everything they’ve made in the last decade, they’re boring. My dad has a 2021 Goldwing, so I’ve spent plenty of time on it to have an opinion. It’s smooth as silk, just lacks what I’m into, maybe when I join AARP.
@@MrBackslider1 my friend has a 107 Black Streetglide M8 2020 . He always says he wishes his bike would sound like my 2014 Black Shrine 103 High Output Twin Cam . Both have RCX exhausts.
???? Why compare apples to oranges? If you want to tour, there's nothing like 900 pound two wheeled weight powered by a 131 cu power plant. (131 cu = 2,147 cc). If you want to carve canyons, get an EBR 1190. (the 1190 = 185 ponies and 100 ft lb torque). If you can't afford it stop your whining and save till you can. AND: Aren't you guys based out of the Republic of Boulder, Colorado? The mecca of anti petrol anything?
Sorry when you race Harley Baggers vs Harley Bagger it is like racing turtles. Now if they opened it up to other sports touring bikes suddenly the HD would swiftly become a also ran. Am not a big fan of the HD, they are actually problematic in upkeep and as for quality and cost they are very expensive and not all that good of quality. Sorry a BMW or Goldwing will run for well over 100k without issues. Then if you rebuild one of those engines it is basically a set of rings, valve job and some gaskets, the bottom ends last forever on both. Now with a HD if it makes that mileage you are better off simply replacing the engine totally as it is cheaper, and you are talking $5,000 vs under a grand for the others if you have the dealer do it or maybe $500 on the outside if you do it yourself.
Apparently you have never owned a Beemer , they are some of the highest maintenance and lowest reliability out there .. And dont mention repair costs .. I have had quite a few Harleys go well over 100k without major issues ..
@@jackthebagger7589 I have owned more than one BMW and right now I have a R1150RT and wife has a F650CS, the RT has roughly 100k miles on it and the F around 15k. Also have a R80RT with over 330k miles on the clock, how much more I don't know as the mile indicator broke again. The only major problems encountered have been all on the minor side, actually. The R80 bought used and overhauled myself with 110k on clock. The only reason for it coming down was a cam chain worn the hell out, but since I had it down it was a no-brainer to check everything else out. Parts were very reasonable and has ran fine since. The only other problem out of routine was at 300k the shift spring broke. Took no time to fix, about 3 hrs start to finish and a $3.50 spring. First owner put a competition clutch plate in so every 50k miles you replace the throwout thrust bearing, again about an hour ordeal. The majority of the BMW complaints registered were what most would call nick-nack items. Switches, cracked plastic and so on. Now for your indestructible HD's, sorry when you start calling cracked heads, cam drive failures, crankshaft failures, clutch failures, rear piston failures etc as minor you know you got problems. I guess I will stick with my piss poor, problematic BWM's and my old Goldwing which you guys claim as problems also. Oh by the way I have NEVER but EVER actually seen a Harley with that touted 100K on the clock. The standard Bravo Serra Story is always, I replaced the speedometer a while back, but how can that be true as you say HD's never break.
@@thomasheer825 I can show you several with over 100 on the original odo with no major issues .. I came real close a few years ago to getting a GS1150 from a friend who was getting a newer GS , always liked 'em , none of them are 'perfect' , we are all different and thats a good thing .. I have owned others as well as HD and by no means am a hater if ya dont ride HD .. Peace Out ..
@@jackthebagger7589 Please attach pictures, and the bike also. I can get high miles with a drill and a nail also. Have twisted wrenches on the side as a hobby since the 60's, love bikes and have had multiple brands. Harley's are fun to ride but sorry when ridden hard they don't hold up all that well. Had a old K75RT with over 100k on the clock that rode like I stole it, no problems that is until had a highway introduction to a Labrador, we both lost on that one. Buddy bought the remains and resurrected it and is still riding the hell out of it. Asked Bob's BMW how long they would last, and the reply was they had seen some with over 500k on the clock and then they had to do a cam chain replacement.

The title is misleading to say the least. This is a commercial for the Road Glide and does nothing but compliment the bike.

Yes, I wonder too. I think this video was confusing and not done very well. The use of non Harleys in it was not useful as well. Try again.

Harley-Davidson has a history of taking parts off their motorcycles charging more painting of a different color giving them a different name but it's still short-changing their customer. That sir, is a winning formula.
And that's what the Motor Company does best.

There is a major issue I have with these offerings from all the manufacturers. In my opinions they should all offer a fork mounted fairing for their designs. I am not fond of fixed fairings when entering in, and out of camp areas, or fairly wooded areas at low speeds.
Just my opinion. Enjoy.

My dad has a 2021 Goldwing, so I’ve spent plenty of time on it to have an opinion. It’s smooth as silk, just lacks what I’m into, maybe when I join AARP.
The M8 came out in 2017 not 2016. Love my 17 Street Glide ❤️
My next bike, the road glide.
Make it happen, cap'n!
So why wont you ? Bait?
I understand why you have so many subscribers..... your attitude.
Attitude is everything, they say! Thanks for noticing and sticking around.
This is why I'll never ride my road glide again. Lol. WTH. I love my road glide.
Great review
Hey OP - WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! Here's a dollar, buy a clue...
Problem with the Harley-Davidson motorcycles is they charge big bucks for old technology
It wont run??????
Maybe you'd like a Buick
🤣
If you can’t handle a heavyweight, get something little that you aren’t afraid of.
whats wrong with buick? ever heard of the gnx?
@@1hdoilfielddad244 Who doesn't like a Buick Riviera boattail . One of the most beautiful car
What bullshit. There was never a mention of Why I Will Never Ride My Harley Road Glide Again. This was simply an ad for the Road Glide.
Good luck when it breaks down......and it will.....
He hatin’.
Ah ha, they couldn’t even squeeze the hog lane filtering. Pootin
