- Yes, the heavyness of a Nordic winter can really get to me. And espescially this winter was heavy. I know many of you feel this way too. After all, this winter is unlike any winter we have ever had before! So in this video I filmed myself trying to deal with it on a day to day basis, and take you behind the scenes of my Frozen Waterfall video.

@@Mariaandtheforest I think the dark and the light are equally as important even if it can sometimes be a bit uncomfortable and tend to create a lot of art during darker times so for that I am grateful.

I find it interesting about your feelings during winter. Living in Australia I have the same feelings about our summer. Hard to believe but I dread it every year. The heat is unbearable, exhausting, never ending 24/7. I hide inside like you in winter. I have to make sure all I want to do is done very early in the morning before it gets too hot. The worry of bush fires and animals getting burnt alive is horrendous. Mother nature is the boss of everything and we must fit our lives in with her ❤ thank for your amazing content
Very interesting how the reversed can be so similar! I would also think that warmth is even more challenging, because the cold you can fight in a sense by putting on warmer clothes and move a lot when you are outside. But the heat you almost can not fight!
I spent some time in the desert of India when I was younger, travelling. Worst heat I ever experienced! But I got by when I learned the way people dealt with it there, by letting nature be the boss like you say. The locals were awake early mornings and late nights and slept during the day instead, adapting to the rhythm nature had created instead of the 9-5 rhythm imposed on them from our society, I really learned something from that.
Living in a desert would be tough. Worse than being here I would think 😮 such an interesting life you have led, keep being curious it keeps us alive. Thank you for sharing the beauty of Norway ❤

Winter can indeed be hard work (3 cakes a month is testament to that !), but you've survived it, and with spring comes a new freedom, new options, and a new strength with which to tackle whatever lies ahead.
The one constant in life is change Maria, and that which weighs heavy on your mind now will pass in time. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and keep up the good work.

@@Mariaandtheforest The situation here is unchanged. We remain under a stay at home order until 29th March, although we are permitted to leave home for exercise and food shopping.
Fortunately I have some lovely country lanes nearby where I can walk alone, though I never venture farther than within a 3 mile radius from the house.
I am more fortunate than many in that I can work from home, and my work has been mostly unaffected, but nonetheless
while we will have some limited freedoms from April, realistically socialising as we knew it will not be possible until late June, or probably July/August, and only then assuming all goes to plan.
TH-cam and Facebook have been life savers during this time !

Also glad to read that you have places to walk, and that your work is mostly unaffected. I hear you, the internet has been a place for so many things... Socialising, travelling, meeting new people. I think about that when making videos too.

The filming may have been challenging, but the images, and your portrayal of the challenges of winter are outstanding. I Loved my month in Norway in the summer!! But maybe I’m not mentally equipped for winter.😞

We have an INSANE amount of strutseving right beside our backyard and I had no idea they were forageable!

You have probably done this, but its smart to read a bit about it and make sure you are certain, because some ferns can be poisonous. And I only pick around a third of the fiddle heads from each cluster, because if you pick them all the plant dies. Other than that, its the best, enjoy!

i can relate too your seasonal depression. I too suffer from this but in reverse. I live in Australia with long, hot ,dry summers. I've longed to travel to places like Norway for a long time. One day. I'm glad you found your way through.

Hi Lilly. I’ve just come back from a month in Norway, and was one of the most outstanding experiences of my life. I will return. Australia seems quite benign in comparison. I think the biggest difference is how time feels here. It’s sooo much slower, and the seasons are over decades rather than annually. And the extremes of drought and flood here, are just that, extreme. But that is our normal.

"Sprout, shoot, shoots, sniff.." after I saw that clip with your subtitles I had to find this music video for the song "Old English" by Young Thug, Freddie Gibbs, and A$AP Ferg. Ha though it is completely unrelated to your work and absurd that my mind made that connect, I think you are onto something exciting with the text overlays.. I wonder if there isn't some kind of bridge that you'd be able to create between your literature and film through this applique of text.. It is funny what you said about wanting to shut up and letting the audience feel your story, rather than you needing to perfectly express your interpretation of that story though words. You are getting closer.
I had my breaking point a little over a week ago, and there was something cathartic tonight about seeing you sitting against that shed in the snow, waiting for nothing in particular. Watching the sun to go down.

Well, it seems that things in the world have not gotten better in the year since you made this video. I think we can agree they have gotten worse. I’ve been doing some reading in my Bible and it describes this world situation exactly in there. My hope can’t be in the world governments doing the right thing. They aren’t and won’t. Jesus has and will! He has provided the way for eternal life. The Bible speaks of that in the book of John. And He’s coming to correct the mess the world has become. The book of Revelation speaks of that. I’m sharing this for encouragement as so many people around the world are discouraged, fearful and confused. The Bible has the answers as far as I can see. And it’s brought me to a place of peace and joy even now.

Hello I love your videos...., and your opening statement is why Marijuana is legal in the state of Alaska in the U.S waay before it was ever mentioned and or accepted like it has been just in recent years in the lower 48 i.e...what Alaskans call the rest of the U.S. You may have been kidding ,but, there has always been more suicides in Alaska than most U.S cities/towns combined sooo, it can be really shitty sometimes ,but ,it passes keep your spirits up
