  • On Friday, 4 October 2024, we bid a heartfelt farewell to Mrs Wilma Adendorff, Head of Afrikaans, as she embarked on her well-deserved retirement. Wilma has been an integral part of Glenwood since 2006, and after 18 years of dedication, she leaves behind an irreplaceable legacy-not just in the Afrikaans Department, but in the hearts of her colleagues and the many boys she has inspired throughout the years.
Aside from her excellence in the classroom, Wilma was a familiar face on the sports fields, where she took charge of First Aid, tending to countless wounds with care. A former SA Softball player, Wilma also coached Glenwood’s softball team during her time here. Her contributions went far beyond teaching; she was a mentor, coach, and friend to many.
Wilma’s ties to Glenwood run deep, as her two sons, Shaun and Ian, are proud Old Boys of the school. To honour her years of service, the school held a special assembly, after which she rang the memorial bell, a Glenwood tradition. The staff lined up to form a guard of honour, paying tribute to her incredible impact.
Thank you, Wilma, for your unwavering dedication and passion. Glenwood will miss you dearly!
