Agreed... it outlines the beautiful, epic chords, serves to recap some of the main themes and uses tension and release nicely. And importantly, even though Petrucci could shred throughout, he doesn’t, he’s restrained and uses his technique for excitement, for passion. He’s a great, lyrical soloist.
I’m gonna get flack for this but, I like the way Alain plays Petrucci’s solos better. There’s just more sensitivity and the technique is so good that the notes don’t get in the way.

So insane, especially considering the fact that he has a dramatically less forgiving tone than JP and actually delivers a cleaner, more defined tone on the fast runs. Incredibly well done
I can't ignore the fact that he plays the vibrato without the whammy bar and string bending to a whole step higher + vibrato and sounding clean is just wow. Usually JP would use whammy bar to produce the vibrato.. Respect man..
I've been recording covers of GTR Solos since 2014 and I must say, these days to be able to record live in the video, at that difficulty, it's something that goes beyond practice, there's a huge "gifted" factor inside you man! you're awesome and the entire guitar community deserves to know about your unique talent for the guitar! Keep it up man!
