  • Snorkeling with a weight belt can be dangerous. Learn how to snorkel with a snorkeling weight belt. I show you how to safely set up and use a dive weight belt for snorkeling. This video is not for beginner snorkeling, using a weight belt is for more advanced snorkelers. Using a weight belt for snorkeling will allow you to dive down a bit and get a better look at fish and reef life underwater. If you want to buy a snorkel weight belt please check out Bright Weights it is one of the best snorkeling weight belts I have ever used. I hope you enjoy learning about snorkeling gear, thanks for watching.
    ⚠ DO NOT USE A WEIGHT BELT unless you are a great swimmer and have alot of experience snorkeling, using a weight belt improperly can put your life at risk! ⚠

    Nicely done, especially important was the part about being able to quickly drop your weight belt. I had to do that when I found a scuba diver's weight belt and thought I could get it to the beach.
    The belt I use has 5 pockets for those 2 pound weight bags. I added some of the lead fishing weights I've found on the bottom to compensate for my 4/3 wetsuit in the cold months.

    A weight belt is needed to compensate for the extra bouyancy of a wetsuit especially if you want to be able to dive a few metres down.

    If I want to buy the bright weight belt do I need to buy only the weight belt and the weights or do I also need to buy their weight intergrated straps?

  • @rogerhummel3023
    @rogerhummel3023 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wow, I like this belt set up. I actually want to learn how to control my ability to hold my breath whilst free diving and snorkeling. I went to website and noticed that the products and company are located in South Africa. The prices are in rand. Is there a local shop here in Florida where I can buy the set up I want and not mail order. I’m certified, I have the scuba gear, I have a bunch of camera equipment, now all I need to do is meet up with you and create some content. See you in the water…. Also, 500 grams = 1.1 pounds, for those who may not know the conversion.

      They are called a rash guard. Get one that has an SPF rating so it will block sun. If you want with a hoodie then search spearfishing rash guard on Amazon

      @@JoeOceanside thank you so much sir! ..i did not know how important a wet suit keeps you warm! My son freezes in the Florida springs and he can't enjoy the rest of the day because he gets real cold. Do 2mm keep you warm as well under cold waters especially Florida springs treated at 72° or do you recommend 3mm always.

    Ok im not advanced snorkeler but the water I plan on being in maybe my chest line. But deep enough that I can't interact with the bottom. I want to do some under water metal detecting. I was going use a weight belt. In this situation do you think it is ok to still use one because I would just have to remember when in a emergency stand up lol

    Uhhh…isn’t this called freediving?..

    • @WraithBlackthorn
      @WraithBlackthorn 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Uhhh.... Not necessarily. Snorkeling, skin diving, breath hold diving, etc all existed before the term "freediving" came along. It's generally considered "freediving" when you are going deeper or doing a competition. Freediving is more advanced than snorkeling. Most snorkelers don't qualify as freedivers.
