Never posted a response , keep the bike !!! I did not look back to far , But if it has not been called to your attention I dont think its a good Idea to pull your car the way that hitch is configured. You had a bit of trouble with the bike now that it is positioned further back from your RV. It appears that you are using the hitch receiver in a way it was not intended to be used . You will be toeing your car from a section of tubing welded on 90 degrees to the main tubing that inserts to the receiver.
There is a away to make it work . and bring the bike along . Your MC ramp can be moved closer to the RV and the now drop down receiver can be beefed up with some gussets to be safe for toeing the little car.

You should get a toyhauler to tow behind RV. Then you can bring car, motorcycle, bicycle, and all your Mickey stuff.

Hey Eric, as far as your clearance measurements go, perhaps make sure Tater's headlamps don't bonk when taking a sharp turn out of a dipped driveway. If the RV nose goes uphill while Tot is going into the dip on a right turn onto the roadway (quite common situation), could the right headlamp/hood be even closer to the bike ramp or rear tie-down bar? Best of luck with the possible new setup though!!!

About your flood water simply put a 5 gallon bucket at the corner where the water gathers, put that bucket underground and install a 110 volt sump pump and hook the hose to it then run the hose around front to that opening at the road where water runs under the road.

  • @timg7080
    @timg7080 3 ปีที่แล้ว

If it doesn't work on the back receiver hitch .Have a custom one made for the front of the motorhome .
You could probably go to a trailer hitch Shop to get it. That way if you decide to go with the winch system you have a place to plug it in to the front of the vehicle
For the rainy and muddy days.

Hint for your turned up anti wobbler, put the u bolt back on the receiver, not on the stinger, and flip the bracket 180 degrees so it forces the stinger down.. That way, it isn't putting all the down force weight on the anti wobbler since the bracket is tightening it UP.

Sad to see any motorcycle being sold. Im not an expert or a "you should ".Here in northern Canada when I store my bikes I fill the tank, add fuel stabilizer and run it for 10 minutes to circulate it.
The reason is it keeps condensation out of the tank and also the carb from drying out.
If you have a damp climate over time you'll have rust.
    Trust me. Just a thought.

Just a thought for cheap insurance, I've had a motorcycle have the front shocks compress on a hard bump allowing the front wheel to jump out of the track. I couldn't see if you did this but might be some added protection to strap the front wheel to the track. Glad to hear you're keeping the motorcycle.

  • @richarddeich164

All you need to do is put the bike in 1st gear. Before you push it up the ramp .When you get to the top of the ramp ,you release the clutch . Wont hurt the bikes transmission . This way when you unload the bike you can use the bike clutch to help slow the bike down too. That is how I did it.

I have a class A with the same motorcycle carrier. I drilled another hole for the pin, so I can have the bike closer to the back of the motorhome (push the carrier farther into the receiver). This will help both of your issues (turning and loading motorcycle). I did it for two different reasons. Having the weight pressing down so far behind the receiver and rear axle multiplies it, creating way more stress on things. By snugging it up, its like reducing the payload. The second reason was for aerodynamics. It looks much better too.

The Midwest is bi-polar and body who says it's so humid or rains a lot or is so hot or freezing cold in other places has never stayed long enough in the Midwest...and I think Iowa is the worst of them, cause you can get all the extremes here. I must love it though cause I'm still living here haha. The Midwest don't have scorpions, tarantulas or hurricanes though so i think it's a good trade off.

Hi Eric, I would like to suggest that you shorten the motorcycle carrier slide tube to bing the motorcycle closer to the RV. Two reasons; First, loading will be the way you were used to. Second, bringing the weight closer to the original position will lessen the strain on the hitch due to leverage. Oh yah, a third reason, you will get more clearense for your Towd. Of course had you cosulted a certain "wise cat" he might have suggested the same thing. I was hoping you would do this a while ago because I will be doing the same thing on my motorhome and wanted to see how it works out for you. Keep the videos coming and stay safe! Dave

Eric you should get one of those bolt on front wheel racks that hold the bike up would solve your problem.

Eric, I know you don't care for critics, However you might want to gusset that lower receiver hitch. Think of the power of the lever when Tator Tot is pushing and pulling on that vertical tube holding the lower hitch. Sure hate to that little rig go flying off into the ditch.

Get a wheel chock. It will hold the bike straight while you tie it down

There is no reason to either sell your stuff or bring it all with you. You *can* leave it at your house and enjoy your stuff when you are home....just like you do with your game machines, popcorn maker, hot tub, etc. Obviously you have seen that the motorcycle works just fine when you take care of the gas/engine/carburetor situation when you are going to be gone for awhile. Make your stay at home a fun time & different than being on the road.

The receiver is not very strong for pulling the car... Im sure that 90 degree was designed for a bike rack, not pulling a car down the highway.. Watch for cracks in the welds

Upper receiver is for accessories only, such as bike racks
