If she will, he will be killed, but if she fails she'll marry him. So the princess gave order to servitude to stay awake all night long, trying to find the prince's name. Litterally "nessun dorma" in italian means "no one will sleep". And my favorite passage: "Tramontate stelle, all'alba vincerò" (Set, stars! At dawn I will win) celebrate this great poem of triumph. Mr. Pavarotti took the gift that God gave him and Blessed us with it. This is what we are all meant to do, but so few of us do. In my opinion, it is one of the basic reasons why we see so much trouble and turmoil in our world. As someone who listens to thrash metal (Metallica, Slayer etc), one cannot but feel in awe at Pavarotti's voice. This song alone sends chills down my spine and is truly phenomenal!
Opera is meant to give you an emotional overload. It's an extreme form of music, and you have to let it consume you to get the whole experience. I have tears in my eyes every time I hear Pavarotti sing Nessun Dorma.
SO glad that this was the performance selected. I and my parents were HUGE Pavarotti fans and I was fortunate to see him perform multiple times. This was an absolutely extraordinary human talent. In this performance and in this song, when I had the great privilege to actually meet him face to face in Hartford, CT, I wanted to know the answer to one question. “Mr. Pavarotti.” Looked right at me and said, “Please, Luciano.” “Luciano sir, I caught something in your expression at the close of the Nessun dorma at the Turandot performance that I have never seen before watching you. But I think I know what it was. I just wanted to know from you if I was right.” He shot back a HUGE perfect Pavarotti grin and said in that thick accent, “Do I really need to say the words? You my friend heard it too. I actually felt it very deeply and I was very proud. Like a child amazed at my victory. Thank you very much for asking. Did I answer it for you?” “Without question. Thank you Luciano.” I didn’t extend my hand because I knew about his issue with germs at the time. HE, extended his out to me to shake and that drew some serious looks, lol. That was a moment I will never forget. Just perfect. If you are not clear on what it was I saw, take a look at the raw and genuinely intense look of almost astonishment on his face after the closing note of the performance of Nessun dorma. He absolutely knew that he nailed that performance with the most perfect dynamic intensity he had ever achieved performing it and as it came to a close the emotional tone in his eyes was SO instinctively rare for that guy because he could do that song seemingly perfect in his sleep. BUT, there was something in the air and my guess personally was that every other musician in the ensemble had absolutely NAILED every note and emotional intention perfectly. Being a man that would never be less than as perfect as his supporting ensemble, he was pressed to absolute perfection and pulled it off brilliantly. It obviousLy shocked him a bit, but he recognized clearly what he just did and confirmed it for me with his answer. It was obvious and he appreciated that it didn’t get past someone. No one seems to notice his face and his eyes right after the performance. You can literally see how much emotion he put in and how much it took out of him. A surely great performance.
I politely disagree with you - many of us DO see his expression at the end. It's hard to nail down its significance, but perhaps it evoked in him a memory of something in life that Puccini's words brought back to him. We recently said goodbye to our best friend, a twelve and half year old Irish Wolf Hound, a big but gentle creature. Pavarotti's enigmatic gaze just let all my inner sadness out.
Oh yes I did he had the voice of an Angel and this performance was vocal perfection but the look on Luciano's face when he concluded this performance it's hard to describe it's almost as if he could not believe it himself and the look set it all
Opera singers have told me that performance of Opera is a physically and (if your heart is in it) emotionally exhausting exercise. I believe them. Maybe that accounts for the look on his face.

I'm in my early 50s now we had this stunning piece of music as a sound track to the 1990 World Cup 'Italia 90' it was just epic as an English man. Somehow he manages to express to the entire world how we feel about art, and that is why we are so thankful he is part of our history. The present is used on purpose because Pavarotti will live forever.
It is great seeing her reaction, possibly discovering something she had never experienced before. As a whole, our society has become so uncultured and resistant to expanding our learning. I am a Latino man in my early 50s born and raised in East Los Angeles. I had the benefit of having both my parents in the home and, although they themselves never finished high school, they stressed learning and culture. My father, a lover of music, introduced me to Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Alfredo Krauss, Jose Carreras, and Enrico Caruso. This love of classical music inspired me to learn about other forms of music as well as Italian culture and history. This is turn led me to Roman architecture and then architecture in general, then engineering. Engineering led me to aeronautics and military aircraft, which led to military history. My mother was the same in teaching me to cook which led to many other areas of learning. They inspired me to be a Renaissance man, something we need to inculcate in our youth today. Congrats Ms. Taiwo on discovering the maestro Pavarotti. Looking forward to seeing more of your reaction videos.🥰
I'm 60 years old. I've watched and listened to Luciano Pavarotti sing this gob smacking piece for decades. I still feel the hair on my skin tingle and experience that awe-filled sigh in my chest every time. What a gift he was. I can so easily relate to this young woman's first experience of it.
His voice was magnificent was it not? So powerful, yet it makes you so emotional. It was a delight to watch you listening to it. I have that exact same reaction every single time I listen to him sing Nessun Dorma!

At the small place I used to work at. The Boss played the 3 Tenors CD over and over and over. I gotta say that even though it's not my choice of music. Pavarotti was definitely 1 of the Best
As an Italian I can tell you that I got excited watching your reaction. I was lucky to be able to listen Pavarotti live and I can guarantee you that every time I had goose bumps. Nessun Dorma is one of the "aria" that move me the most with a deep feeling like the whole opera (Turandot). Another amazing Aria is "Che Gelida Manina" from La Bohème by Puccini.
If you were to put his voice through a spectrum analyzer, you would discover that the fundamental note he is singing is sometimes actually not as vibrant as the second or third harmonic. He has an amazing ability to control and change the resonance of his entire vocal system.
Great reaction. This clip is like a human soul spilling out all over an audience. The song is about the hero of the opera expressing his belief that he will win the love of the princess.
You just listened to a real legend. This song gives me chills every time I hear it. You can tell by the look on his face that the songs he sings, though written hundreds of years ago is a deeply emotional trip for this man. I'm glad you got to experience this song.

Where I used to work. My boss loved Pavarotti. I listened to Pavarotti every day 6 days a week for 12 years. Now I enjoy hearing him. My son was a toddler during Italia ‘90 when this track was everywhere. As Pavarotti built to his crescendo he would start shouting “Lion!”

I'm in my early 50s now we had this stunning piece of music as a sound track to the 1990 World Cup 'Italia 90' it was just epic as an English man.
We were simply swept along with not only the football but this piece of music.
Even now listening it takes me right back to that glorious summer.

Somehow he manages to express to the entire world how we feel about art, and that is why we are so thankful he is part of our history. i first heard this song when i was 3 years old 49 years ago & Still LOVE IT!!! i still don't understand a single word!!!
It is great seeing her reaction, possibly discovering something she had never experienced before. As a whole, our society has become so uncultured and resistant to expanding our learning. I am a Latino man in my early 50s born and raised in East Los Angeles. I had the benefit of having both my parents in the home and, although they themselves never finished high school, they stressed learning and culture. My father, a lover of music, introduced me to Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Alfredo Krauss, Jose Carreras, and Enrico Caruso. This love of classical music inspired me to learn about other forms of music as well as Italian culture and history. This is turn led me to Roman architecture and then architecture in general, then engineering. Engineering led me to aeronautics and military aircraft, which led to military history. My mother was the same in teaching me to cook which led to many other areas of learning. They inspired me to be a Renaissance man, something we need to inculcate in our youth today. Congrats Ms. Taiwo on discovering the maestro Pavarotti. Looking forward to seeing more of your reaction videos.🥰

I'm 60 years old. I've watched and listened to Luciano Pavarotti sing this gob smacking piece for decades. I still feel the hair on my skin tingle and experience that awe-filled sigh in my chest every time. What a gift he was. I can so easily relate to this young woman's first experience of it.

As an Italian I can tell you that I got excited watching your reaction. I was lucky to be able to listen Pavarotti live and I can guarantee you that every time I had goose bumps. Nessun Dorma is one of the "aria" that move me the most with a deep feeling like the whole opera (Turandot). Another amazing Aria is "Che Gelida Manina" from La Bohème by Puccini.

If you were to put his voice through a spectrum analyzer, you would discover that the fundamental note he is singing is sometimes actually not as vibrant as the second or third harmonic. He has an amazing ability to control and change the resonance of his entire vocal system.

Where I used to work. My boss loved Pavarotti. I listened to Pavarotti every day 6 days a week for 12 years. Now I enjoy hearing him. What's more enjoyable is Watching people hear him for the first time. Like you. Just now. It's the same for most people. Totally Stunned. Wonderful isn't he.
