Lastly, as I said in my original reply, neither race is in the right. Humans have done actions as bad as murderous baseball; stoning, unethical executions, and archaic torture. Firing squads, war crimes, and illegal torture that's still done to this day. We both have tendency for violence, but again, that only changes once the initiative has been set off. Though the show wants you to see the extremists within humans, the beastmen are not saints either, and both sides are deeply flawed. Shirou is the motif of beastmen's flaws, as he goes from seeing all humans as immoral-close to harming his own kind as a result-to realizing that no one race is uniform in ideology and embracing a more passive stance.

Humans can be violent, but murder isn't allowed in a sports event. Murder is frowned upon by sane people. In a real life situation, you'd be a damn fool to try dealing with beastmen. More than likely, they'd tear you apart within a day. The only reason segregation didn't work in reality, is because that segregation was a result of actual anger towards a race of people. Resources were denied as well. Here it would be due to the same reason people don't go living in the woods surrounded by predators. In this show, they have a whole civilization that's just fine without any humans, and vice versa.

I love this Anime. I hope there will be a second season... maybe following the storyline of Anima City's attempt to introduce humans to Beastman culture... while also developing the friendship/ relationship between Michiru & Nazuna further.

With Beastars and BNA, Netflix has shown that furry anime has a surprisingly large audience. And they are the only streaming service to fill that niche. You'd think that continuing BNA and possibly producing more furry anime to hold into that market would be a good decision for them.

I never understood why they didn't just lean into the super power super hero theme and have Michiru as the main hero instead of having her on the sideline while that Wolf detective gets to save the day. The idea of having Michiru transforms parts of her body to fit her needs is cool and its a shame it was never expanded upon. I also never understood the deal with some citizens staying in animal form while others switch from animal to human from time to time.
