    Kenny, LOL, giving them to someone else’s kids, that is great. Better yet would be making a set for each grandchild. Too bad all my grandkids are older. I have used a frence curve more than I care to count yet never have I ever thought of using the tip you showed for registering it multiple times. I always just tried making those all but invisible tick marks on the curve, using tape, so simple and accurate. Great show yet again this week, thanks.

      Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Sometimes, a little joke is inserted just to see who is paying attention. Other times, it is inserted just because I am hilarious!!! (at least I think so). Glad to hear that you liked the show Paul and that you were able to take something away from it, even if it was just a tip on using painters tape. There is always something to learn sir. Thanks for tuning in to the show. It's appreciated.

    Great build Kenny, that just reminded me of my ol Nan who used to grab the spoons out the drawer, and bang them spoons together to make some tunes, also my mother-in-law (Godzilla) she used to do that at weddings and stuff, she would go in the kitchen at the venue, nick some spoons and off she went, mad woman she was ha ha ha.

    @acutabove_woodworkings thanks for the lesson. My husband's family is very musical...me, I play the stereo...lol.
    I suggest you smooth out the diamond cut to be rounded and large enough for an adult to slip a finger through. Some people hold them like you did (good job btw). Others will slip their pointer finger through and use their thumb and middle finger to pinch the outside.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's actually a pretty solid suggestion. For those that hold it in a traditional way (as if they were separating two spoons) might find a rounded slot to be more comfortable. Thanks for tuning in and for the suggestion. It's very much appreciated.

    Thanks again for a great video. You just gave me an idea for Christmas present. I will have a go, I doubt if mine will be as good as yours, but I will give it a go. By the way, did you use maple for strength or tone. What other woods will be useful. Or put it another way, which wood is NOT suitable.
    Thank you.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words on the show. I'm sure that your wooden spoons will turn out just fine. You just need to take you time, that's all. As for the species of the stock, the only ones that I wouldn't bother with, are pine and cedar. The only reason I chose maple was because of its strength. I don't think that tone quality has anything to do with it when you are just knocking a couple pieces together like this. Different woods would definitely have different sounds, but unless you are a professional, I honestly don't think that stock choice based on sound and tonal quality is that important. Thanks for tuning in and for taking the time to leave a comment. I appreciate it.

    Wow they sound really good ! Please consider making a set of " rhythm bones "
    Btw.. I do think the wood choice will influence the sound character.
    Just the same way guitar bodies fretboards and necks influence their sound.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do agree to a certain point Richard that there are certain species of wood that are just better tone woods. I'm not sure if a project this small has the ability to allow a wood to be tonal or not. I guess there's only one way to find out. I am sure that at some point in time, a set of rhythm bones just might be in the show. Thanks for tuning in and for the great suggestion for a project. I appreciate that.

    Man your good with those...you don't happen to play drums do ya? lol. My parents had a friend that was nuts at the spoons. All ways thought it was cool to be able to open a kitchen drawer, grab two utensils and get a room full of people laughing, dancing and singing. Nice project bud. Peace.

      The measuring guide, can be found here. www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/hand-tools/marking-and-measuring/rules/58877-incra-t-rules
      As for the dog hole clamp, that is called a quick release wonder dog and it is available from Lee Valley Tools. Here's a link. www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/workshop/workbenches/benchtop-accessories/74622-veritas-quick-release-wonder-dog?item=05G1030
