That's something a lot of people wind up missing. It's one of those things the game wants you to discover on your own. You can use them to travel around Mother Base quickly as well.
Its funny how a pistol that doesn’t even kill can make a huge robot jumping you. explode and its not not even killing him hes a robot so it’s destroying a machine killing is for humans he does come back tho
god damn you had to play my most hated mission towards the end. while i took my time weeping before pulling the trigger, you mf just went ahead and John Wick everybody instead. wow. great speedrun i like it
Hm, no kill run but you still kill the objective targets? Wouldnt saving them with Fulton or something be more accurate? This run is really impressive btw
Enemies dying from bleedout doesn't count against you as far as the game is concerned. You can take out an entire base with bleedouts but as long as nobody saw you do it the game will give you the "Perfect Stealth / No Kills" bonus at the end. If it weren't for that, there would certainly be more fultoning throughout the run.
The original rules were written a looooong time ago and only a couple of other players have tried this category out. As the rules are written currently you could use the mist parasites, but as a personal rule I didn't want to use them.
Yeah, that's how we clear it in Any% runs. I haven't tried it for this category because I've been worried about the grenade bouncing out or just somehow killing a soldier. I'll have to try it for this one at some point.
I had trouble with it but I just went on top of the building and kept shooting them with my grenade launcher while quiet shot at them with her anti material sniper
It can be intimidating to run, especially this category with how long it is and how many different missions there are. New Game is easier to get into and there's always IL's. MGS3 is easier to get into from my understanding. You should check out the MGSR discord or its wiki if you're interested in speedrunning any Metal Gear title.
After you've completed Episode 1 for the first time you're able to call in Pequod for the mission. Once you get Miller and free him you can just call Pequod to come pick you up instead of going to where The Skulls ambush you.
This specific category is New Game+, so it's not on a new save file. MGSV doesn't have a true NG+ mode, so for the speedrun it's just doing all the missions on a completed save using whatever gear you want. I have a New Game run on here, but I haven't done one that's Perfect Stealth as well yet.
Thr fact that the world record holder is playing on a controller just goes to show how much combat and accuracy has been left out this speed run, it would be such a handicap otherwise But it'll change, like all games, as time flies the optimisation will eventually become so important and the strats so dangerous that controllers will be a handicap With a bit of luck mouse + keyboard will only be needed for some intense parts of the Run so the runner will be able to switch back and forth between controller/ mkb as they please, but yeah Mad respect because I first started playing this game on controller and its insane how harder it is That's probably why watching some MGO gameplay on Playstation is so funny, nobody is aiming down sights they just shoot and pray that auto aim correction will be in their favor and I've never seen so much CQC before, on pc you'd get headshotted before you can even think of closing the distance, in controller people are all running around in circle like kids doing CQC.. that's a sight to behold 🤣

Kind of a weird thing but it is what it is. The only real argument for not doing it is that Raiden can be difficult to control in some areas.
You know I haven't tried it to see if it would be quicker, but I'm not too sure how viable it is. We use the pool setup because The Man on Fire will spawn in the same place consistently, and you just have to wait a moment after his spawn for his invincibility to wear off. If I remember I'll look into it.
Unfortunately, you are correct. NG+ isn't built into The Phantom Pain. From a speedrunning perspective, this category just requires you have a save file that has all 50 missions available to you. I don't know if the guys who created this category just called it NG+ for simplicity's sake, but that's all it is. If you have the PC version of the game, there are mods that you can use for an "authentic" NG+ experience if that's something you are interested in.
@@StegDarkhorse At the topic of mods, did you happen to use the ironsights mod? Cause the front sight of the tranq pistol isn't the size of mt everest and didn't cover the target's entire body at meaningful distances?
@@saverofthehumens No, there's no mods in use here. This run was performed on the launch version of the game, and the only "mods" it has access to are a very old version of cheat engine with limited capabilities and Reshade to recolor things. The Wu line of pistols have good iron sights (Except the other Grade 5 with the infinite suppressor and ring sight). You might be running into an issue with using the wrong silencer on your pistol if you've customized it. This is the only game I play with a controller because the game does not list the controls for mouse and keyboard so I don’t know what buttons to press. I’ve played it so much now that I think it will be really hard for me to re learn with mouse and keyboard
Hey, sorry for the late response. This link from the MGSR Wiki should give you the info you need: metalgearspeedrunners.com/wiki/doku.php?id=metal_gear_solid_v:mgsvtpp_oldpatchguide If you still need help, you can also hit us up on the discord server and we can try to give you a hand. A recent Steam update made it so you can't down-patch games anymore, so you may need to use an older version of Steam as well. Make sure you backup your save files before trying this. Good luck and have fun with the old version.
Guards who are engaged in combat against Pequod will ignore certain sounds from Snake for a period of time. At least that's how I remember it working. I haven't done like a ton of experimenting with it, I just know calling Pequod let's you run behind guards. It's not consistent though - they will hear you sometimes, which is why I think it's just for a short amount of time.
You certainly can. Haven't taken the time to see if it's faster in NG+ because of the time to setup, but since I'm already in that spot it seems doable. I didn't spend a ton of time routing this way back when so there are ways to improve in the future.
Unfortunately I have no idea what it is. At the time I was using a website called rainwave.cc while I was streaming. It's essentially an online radio that pulls tracks from OC Remix as well as video game soundtracks. It's probably on OC Remix but I wouldn't know what to search for. Sorry.
I'm working on a video that will cover it, as well as some other glitches you can do in this game. Unfortunately that glitch is something only available on older versions of the game, so you have to downpatch in order to perform it.
Yes it is. There is a player called Metsametsa who has done a Perfect Stealth run on a new game file. You can find it on TH-cam or by searching for this game on Speedrun.com
I play on PC using a PS4 controller. PC is the fastest version of the game because of load times, but you can speedrun on anything. The leaderboards are separated between console and PC. I'm playing on an older version of the game as well which has some glitches to go even quicker.
I go over how to perform it in this video: th-cam.com/video/0uro8yyP0cI/w-d-xo.html That said, you have to be on the old version of the game to do that glitch. If you have the CGM Rocket Launcher I recommend using that. You can also set up mines before the cutscene to help take out some of the tanks early.
I have some new game runs already on my channel, but I don't have any footage of my current PB unfortunately. Right now my best time is 1:53:56, while the world record is 1:53:29
@@sasasutumi Yeah I was pretty irresponsible with it. I didn't save any PB's up to that point on my Twitch account because I kept improving. My PB wasn't actually streamed to my Twitch - I got it during a race against the current record holder while we were doing a community relay. The guy(s?) in charge of saving VoDs on that channel didn't save it, and I had to stop my local record because the connection for the relay setup was poor. So people saw it, but it's also lost. Monster Hunter had a big update shortly after and I just haven't gone back to the WR grind yet.
For C2W, you certainly can destroy the satellites from the chopper. There's two things that are an issue, with the first being it can be easy to get spotted doing that route which causes a lengthy restart. This is even worse for the Subsistence version, since the sniper on the map has a very high chance of spotting you. The second issue is that if you do things right, it can actually be faster to do the mission on foot using D-Walker. Pequod is actually really slow. It's certainly a mission I could do better on either way.
Hey, sorry I never got back to you. For this category since it already does the Truth mission, the community decided they didn't need to play that as well as the prologue.

This is the only game I play with a controller because the game does not list the controls for mouse and keyboard so I don’t know what buttons to press. I’ve played it so much now that I think it will be really hard for me to re learn with mouse and keyboard
how a can get the version 1.01
Hey, sorry for the late response. This link from the MGSR Wiki should give you the info you need: metalgearspeedrunners.com/wiki/doku.php?id=metal_gear_solid_v:mgsvtpp_oldpatchguide
If you still need help, you can also hit us up on the discord server and we can try to give you a hand. A recent Steam update made it so you can't down-patch games anymore, so you may need to use an older version of Steam as well.
Make sure you backup your save files before trying this. Good luck and have fun with the old version.
@@StegDarkhorse thanks
It took me 3 days to get s rank on all missions. I suck. Lol
It took me a lot longer than that my first time through this game, so I'm sure you're good. I've just played too much at this point.
Why did the soldier did not notice you running behind him when you were going for miller?
Guards who are engaged in combat against Pequod will ignore certain sounds from Snake for a period of time. At least that's how I remember it working. I haven't done like a ton of experimenting with it, I just know calling Pequod let's you run behind guards. It's not consistent though - they will hear you sometimes, which is why I think it's just for a short amount of time.
Couldn't you just plant c4 where the skulls appear in honey bee?
You certainly can. Haven't taken the time to see if it's faster in NG+ because of the time to setup, but since I'm already in that spot it seems doable. I didn't spend a ton of time routing this way back when so there are ways to improve in the future.
Can I know the music at the very beginning of the run?I tried Shazam, Google, Soundhound, and got nothing 😿
Unfortunately I have no idea what it is. At the time I was using a website called rainwave.cc while I was streaming. It's essentially an online radio that pulls tracks from OC Remix as well as video game soundtracks. It's probably on OC Remix but I wouldn't know what to search for. Sorry.
How do you do that glitch that you did for A Quiet Exit?
I'm working on a video that will cover it, as well as some other glitches you can do in this game. Unfortunately that glitch is something only available on older versions of the game, so you have to downpatch in order to perform it.
@@StegDarkhorse ah, okay, I can't wait for the glitch video!
Nice run, but kinda disappointed you didn’t go non-lethal on the last mission after 50 missions of no kills.
If there was a way to do it non-lethal, I certainly would. That's part of why I put it at the end. Good cutscene to end on, too.
is it possible to beat the game as a pacifist with no ng+?
Yes it is. There is a player called Metsametsa who has done a Perfect Stealth run on a new game file. You can find it on TH-cam or by searching for this game on Speedrun.com
awesome
Is it easier to do a speedrun on PlayStation or can you do it on anything?
I play on PC using a PS4 controller. PC is the fastest version of the game because of load times, but you can speedrun on anything. The leaderboards are separated between console and PC. I'm playing on an older version of the game as well which has some glitches to go even quicker.
No kills *cough* Skull Face *cough*, great run nonetheless
I need to S rank mission 45 easier. Anyone have a link to the invincible tank glitch?
I go over how to perform it in this video: th-cam.com/video/0uro8yyP0cI/w-d-xo.html
That said, you have to be on the old version of the game to do that glitch. If you have the CGM Rocket Launcher I recommend using that. You can also set up mines before the cutscene to help take out some of the tanks early.
Might be a silly question but why skip certain missions (like mission 0) if it’s the “all mission” category?
Oh nevermind. I realized it’s out of order lol.
I thought there is no New Game +?
Within the game, no. For the speedrun category NG+ just requires that you are on a save file with all the missions available.
@@StegDarkhorse Ah, I see
are you ever going to do a new game speedrun
I have some new game runs already on my channel, but I don't have any footage of my current PB unfortunately. Right now my best time is 1:53:56, while the world record is 1:53:29
@@StegDarkhorse did you not record it or
@@sasasutumi Yeah I was pretty irresponsible with it.
Its... actually possible... *my hope was not in vain...*
Nevermind the Spetsnaz Commander was... nevermind.
I'm mission 1 you ran past a guy and he didn't hear u how?
What kind of fish do you have?
I don't have a fish, but I do have a pet turtle. A red-eared slider. The filter helps keep his tank clean.
I like this speedrun, but C2W can be done with an S by not leaving the helicopter at all.
How'd you get that outfit?
You must beat the last story mission
... how????
did you install a ssd in the ps4?
the game is being played on PC, using a PS4 controller
where was episode 0?
Hey, sorry I never got back to you. For this category since it already does the Truth mission, the community decided they didn't need to play that as well as the prologue.
Wait, kill you the general !?
i agree
Bruh the lag😳😳
level?
you skipped the flashback first mission.
Community decision was that for this category you don't need to play mission 0 since we already do Truth.
29:21
I did this in under an hour but no one was looking :(
You play mgsv in ps4 🤔
No, I play it on PC. I have the game on PS3 as well, but I haven't played that version in years.
