    I prefer to recognize people #1 as individual human beings. Everything else is a distant 2nd at best.
    #2 I find it essentially meaningless to group people together by virtue of being from the same major continent (Africa, Asia, Europe, etc.). As much as possible, effort should be made to identify either a tribe or at least a smaller geographic region. The Cherokee are not the Navajo are not the Nez Perce are not the Sioux, etc., just as the Spanish are not Germans nor are the Mongols Vietnamese.

    let's use term ''first nations'', nothing wrong with that. Indians is an absolutely wrong term. America derrives from the name of Amerigo Vespucci who was the continent named after. Being called a native is not necessarily to be taken as an insult, it's just a term denoting the fact that you have been here since time immemorial and did not imgigrate. not in the recent times or even in ancient times, but in the prehistory. which makes you an original population.

    With all due respect to Russell, but the term "indio" came from when the Spanish thought they had reached India rather than a different continent. It's the same as in English with "indian". It's a misnomer, so Native Americans IS the right term.

      India wasn't a country in 1492. It was called Hindustan at that time.
      Also, all legal documents, Constitutional mentions, and treaties use the word "Indian" or "American Indian". Changing their name to "Native" or "Indigenous" lumps them in with many other people (Hawaiian, Samoan ...etc). Just as he mentioned in 3:12 into the video. Changing their name was the government's way to create a loophole to say they don't recognize those amendments and treaties.
