I wish they made it so having the multiplayer portal placed it would spaw a pixel-shard a day... That way those who stay off multiplayer like my self can have access to shards too, without it being much extra for those who can play multiplayer... I don't have friends who play DDV and I can't handle inviting/visiting strangers...

Anyone who played ACNH understands that some players steal. And it's not kids but it's grown adults. One player had decorated an area useing dropped items hard earned through timebending. Someone stole them!!!! 😮
I have my festive fish sitting on a table in my kitchen, so I don’t cook with them accidentally. I had someone go into my kitchen and accidentally pick one up, but thankfully he dropped it when he realized. I would have cried if one of my festive fish was snagged, since we can’t replace those. Now I just don’t bring people into that house, so there’s no chance that could happen.
I actually only had positive experiences with multiplayer so far - People have been really kind, more often leaving gifts behind if anything. I do have food etc out as decor, and as far as I can tell no one has touched it. That being said, I do host people from Discord, so there is some level of accountability. It might be different for people who post their code openly on say like, Reddit or other social media. I can see how totally random strangers might be more inclined to mess around with stuff or steal, but I think that's a risk you're taking if you choose to make your valley "public". It's not really DDV's fault, just how online/gaming culture often works.
With the stealing problem I think a lot of people think anything on tables is for them to take as a lot of ACNH players do a lot of trades and use tables so unless told maybe people think it’s okay to take items as they haven’t been told not too. It quite sad that this happening and its also a huge problem on ACNH too. I had my whole entire blue rose field picked by a visiting person on ACNH I was so upset. That now when I do trades I do them right out my airport. I’m yet to set multiplayer up on DDLV as I don’t have any friends that play it 🤣
When I played ACNH I would take all my extra or doubles items and lay them in the ground as the lead pickup item and fence off an area around the pipes and airport for people to run around and take anything they needed. I’d open it up on Reddit and go AFK because I’d fenced it in. Turns out there was one teeny tiny break in the fence that you’d need to really try to find and someone got thru and took a bunch of stuff I had laying around on the ground while I clearing out my storage (before the update when storage was much smaller). I was pretty upset because it was like I was giving out all this free stuff and the other stuff clearly wasn’t within the fence. But they did give most back they claimed it was accidental and I kind of knew it was a risk regardless. Anyway it sucked but it’s part of online multiplayer. Life and learn. Most stealable items in DDLV aren’t worth much so that’s a good thing at least.
so multiplayer really seems to need some work this is my take of what they need to change 1. there needs to be different friendship levels players could set that determine what visitors can do or pick up for example level 1 would be strangers, people you don't know and they could only pick up things you drop level 2 would have a bit more freedom to enter buildings on their qwn but nothing inside a building could be picked up chests could not be opened level 3 would like best friends trusted family members and they would have the most freedoms to be able to use their tools to help you out and maybe be able to open linked chests 2. CHAT FUNCTION! the game needs a chat function so that players can properly communicate with their visitors 3. Craftable custom signs that we could type what ever message that we want to and it would appear on the sign so items for giveaway could be clearly marked
That happened to me with my husband he didn't know and accidently took a hot cocoa. I wasn't bothered because I can make more and it was mistake. I accidently pick up my stuff all the time, especially in the kitchen. Also there is a survey Dreamlight valley posted this afternoon I think and multiplayer was a section of the questions and what we would like in it and our experiences with it. I filled it out, If they do what was on that survey for the game it's going to be super exciting, especially mulitpler where one of the questions was would you like to do quests and farming with friends. Which characters you would like and what themes they should look into as well as dreamsnap questions, strapaths and should the older ones be in the premium shop and bioms.
I’ve not had anyone take any food I have laying around in the few valley visits I’ve done. But I mostly only invite people over to my shop for players looking for certain items. When they come over to my shop I don’t spawn them in my valley but directly into Scrooge store. I’ve had some really nice people visit and respect that an item was on hold for another player and just take what I agreed they could have. It is sad to hear others have had negative experiences.
Mr star, I believe you have gold bars lying on the floor in front of Scrooges shop? People can pick them up if they pass by them. It’s common on other games like animal crossing. Fences are your best friend

Like some people have their chests where they put a gem behind on a table for show in their crafting area right, or some lay down ironbars on the road as boarders, taking these would be knowingly taking them altough its clear decoration right?

i wouldnt feel comfortable sharing my code on any social media. i’d love for people to come visit my valley because im proud of it and worked hard to make it visually appealing but the stealing situation puts me off. i agree with you, as adults, we should have a common understanding to not pick up things that arent yours to take. i decorate with flowers a lot and it would annoy me so much if they were suddenly all gone. i think if youre sharing your code, you should have an area with gifts and specify on your post that they can only take things from that area. its all about trust, respect and to not ruin the experience for other players.
Don’t have many friends, just made some in servers that play DDLV, when the owner posts furniture they’re giving away and someone wants them, the owner shares the codes where everyone can see it the post and their convo, someone who sees the posts and code, hijacks a furniture cause the code wasn’t privately messaged to the person who wanted it originally When I post furniture I’m giving away in discord servers, I usually private msg the person the code and if there’s more than 1 person wanting to buy, I only do 1 person at a time in my valley, haven’t dealt with the theft issue cause been meeting kind ppl so far that don’t touch what’s not theirs lol I also have a section of giving away resources in the shop so they can pick up there, they usually leave after they’re done shopping Don’t really give tours cause haven’t decorated much but if I do, I’m their guide and they follow me I have outside storage area and stuff on table so I know what’s in the chests in front of it and mad hatter tea party set up, but I think it’s clearly visible that things set out is decor and everything around the host’s valley is theirs unless the host said to another player hey this is for you, you can pick it up etc but there are ppl who aren’t aware of those things so to prevent such incidents happening, communication needs to happen between host and visitor before the code is given and trust although there are risks even if communication happened, they could still steal, that’s a risk if host wants to take when inviting a stranger
if you want to do trades with people you dont know just do like animal crossing and fence off the area(i read items must be dropped before enabling multiplayer). You could even put the multiplayer machine near the shop and fence them together so people can shop but not wander.
I want to decorate eventually but with the dreamsnaps I often find myself undecorating to create a scene for my photo. So I have a bunch of photo ops in my valley right now. HaHaHa!
I think that if you just told people when you share your code "only take items from ***, or please don't take items unless I personally drop them in front of you, etc. As I truly believe that maybe people just think that the food that's out is for guests? Maybe? At least that's what I WANT to believe.😊

Have had stuff taken after scrooge trades and people ask to see around your valley - didnt realise that by not following them around i was allowing my food decoration to be emptied without an ask.
So I haven’t done any valley visits because I don’t know anyone who plays. However, Animal Crossing is a huge game of theft. So people F’s I laid with AC know that theft is a real deal. We had to totally fence off everything and if we wanted people to visit the store, we had to make a fenced path for them to get there and not stray away. So I’m not surprised about this. However, from watching vods, it seems like visitors to your valley can’t do much and neither can you when someone is over. AC was different as you could do a lot when on other peoples island.
I made a very specific market for friends to come and take whatever. But some people went to my outdoor storage and took everything I had on display for identifying chests (incliding my gems!). They took all my potions from the apothecary I made for Ursula. Now I'll be fencing visitors in before opening my valley
I love building and have redone my valley a few times , but eternity isle is so beautiful that i can't destroy anything, especially the beautiful jems that are like the night thorns
Bad people on reddit is one of the reasons I used to warn people all the time on reddit reviews to not go on reddit. But it started becoming mentally draining to keep doing it. It doesnt matter what subreddit it is or what community it is. There are not-nice people on reddit period. I heard about the stealing from another youtuber, who heard about it on reddit. I think people who share their codes on reddit and people from reddit visiting is the problem here. Toxic, negitive, entitled and not nice people gather on reddit more than any other site imo. Dont get me wrong. I'm not saying every person on reddit is bad. But it's the majority.
For the stuff stolen. I had people, that like to show off my valley or request a certain item in a discord. There is always that ONE person that would take that advantage my kindness and would take my decoration I have spread out. Like flowers that are gathered around my cottage. Food that I have on tables (for looks) and even have the gull to take my glitch pack I set INSIDE MY HOUSE I showed to a visitor cause I didn’t want to put in my chest accidentally use it while crafting.
Honestly I've seen so many people on FB be like here's my code I'm afk.. like WHAT? If I am opening my valley, I'm with my visitor. All times. Its someone I have a way of communicating with (thats a BIG problem, no way to communicate in game with your visitors) so I can be like hey these things are for you, and if they start dismantling my flower gardens or something I can just disconnect them at the visitor portal. Although why someone I can ask not to do something and they do it anyway would be in my valley in the first place is a mystery. I don't personally IRL know the people I've shared my code with but we have interaction on social platforms, we "know" each other, we know others that know us, and if any of them were trashing any of our valleys we'd all know and that'd get stopped quick.
I have an outdoor storage area with LED gamer desks lined up behind chests, and items on top of the desks. It would be pretty annoying if I had to re-do all the items in that area, thats the only really bad example I can think of
I saw a post where a person had there V8 DECORATIONS stolen the ones that are crafted from time bending parts you find (the fragment parts on level 3 time bending)....they crafted the timebending V8 Cafe and had over 20 of the V8 decorations around it and they said over half or most was stolen.. They should make it where you can't pickup timebending or any kind crafted item. I looked and that V8 decoration takes alot of timebending fragments to make... I feel so bad for them the time it took to make over 20 of those and the resources it took. Serroh suggested making a fenced in trade area by putting the teleporter there with items that you want to trade or want to give them so when they come to get the items they can't leave from that area not unless you choose to let the out. I saw the stolen post on Reddit
That timing was not golden, but PLATINUM XDD I honestly didnt know that its possible to steal things in this game, but its not too surprising. Scummy degenerates can get into pretty much anything and everything. I wouldnt have cared of anyone takes my things, except for the flowers, they have to ask for those :)
When it ask to decorate one area I use rocks path, I place three rock, the one that has four small rocks and use it as path in the entrance of each place it ask
Idk why they don't bring out a system where u craft idk gems and iron to install locks on items. I.e pay 2 gold bars 10 iron to lock item in place ( then when it's locked only you can move it or access it) easy fix.
They should upload that Doland video to youtube, stuff like that goes viral all the time. I had a friend that once uploaded a random 'perfect timing' video on another game and they never used youtube before and it got over a million views.
Mrstarsky I have been to other people’s valley 3 or 4 times and have not seen one pixel shard they also went to mine and they didn’t see any either has this been a problem that you know of? By the way love watching all your videos they are very helpful
I helped out a random person on reddit by giving them some leftover seasonal recorces i had (candy and spring eggs) i said they could have a look around my valley and i've done a lot of decorating with flowers, including the new glowing flowers. they went and picked every singel glowing flower i had in my valley. It was pretty obvious that they were intentionally placed as decoration givin they only spawn on the DLC map. so there was no excuses for " I didn't know it wasn't for me" It was pure malice. now i only let people I've gotten to know on the discord servers i'm on into my valley.
I can’t say I’m not surprised because people steal and ruin stuff from animal crossing islands all the time, it’s horrible but unfortunately there’s people like that out there 😢 To solve it they need to have a drop and place, drop means someone can pick it up, place means it’s placed and now considered as furniture (that’s how it is in AC) 🤷🏼♀️ works perfectly

Mrstarsky I have been to other people’s valley 3 or 4 times and have not seen one pixel shard they also went to mine and they didn’t see any either has this been a problem that you know of? By the way love watching all your videos they are very helpful

I helped out a random person on reddit by giving them some leftover seasonal recorces i had (candy and spring eggs) i said they could have a look around my valley and i've done a lot of decorating with flowers, including the new glowing flowers. they went and picked every singel glowing flower i had in my valley. It was pretty obvious that they were intentionally placed as decoration givin they only spawn on the DLC map. so there was no excuses for " I didn't know it wasn't for me" It was pure malice. now i only let people I've gotten to know on the discord servers i'm on into my valley.

I can’t say I’m not surprised because people steal and ruin stuff from animal crossing islands all the time, it’s horrible but unfortunately there’s people like that out there 😢
To solve it they need to have a drop and place, drop means someone can pick it up, place means it’s placed and now considered as furniture (that’s how it is in AC) 🤷🏼♀️ works perfectly

Players that have resources, gems and food as decorations have had problems with guests sneaking those items.
