First Love was popularized through a really old drama called Majo no Jōken (魔女の条件) (Terms for a Witch) which featured Nanako Matsushima and Hideaki Takizawa. (Go catch it if you haven't! Btw, there is a similar remake in Netflix called Meet Me After School, which is a refreshing remake of the series!) I personally feel that this song made more sense through the Netflix drama First Love because, first love (duh) and all that warm fuzzies in our hearts yada yada. (Great cast / amazing show, I love it too) However, in hind sight the song made me reminisce the times when I was still 13/14 (some 20 years ago) and watching Majo no Jōken with such fascination and fantasy -- made me look at my teacher differently whenever I attended school.
