    If you have the sand filter that came with the pool then you could put a 3/4 hp pump with it. Whatever manufacturer you choose. If you have a cartridge filter, you will want to go through intex to get the pump that is matched with that cartridge filter.

    I have a 18'x33x52 AG, runing a E50 DE with 1.5 HP pump. I love it. DE is the best filtration system OMHO. Dand is simple, chiep, but you endup paying lot more for chimicals. Pool stores love sand filter. The most important factor, to guive pool owners lesst work maintaining, is making sure you do a good job clising your pool. Make sure the water is clear, balanced, use the clising kit accordlenly.

    Love your video. Hope you can help with this question. Our last pool we had a sand filter. it was a BIG one and it matched with the 1.5 hp pump. We have since moved and water restrictions are at the point we have to look at a filter cartridge style. What would you recommend size wise for a 21' X 54" above ground pool. Our previous pool was a 24' X 54" above ground and we ran a 1.5 hayward dual speed pump with the Hayward S244t sand filter and it worked fantastic. In 3 hours the pool was pristeen clean. Any suggestions for the new pool would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a small Intex pool (10 ft round, 30 inches deep, 1200 gallons). I'm upgrading from the worthless cartridge filter to their sand filter/pump. I want plenty of GPH but not too much. I plan to also get the skimmer. I'm waffling between Intex's smallest filter pump and the next size up. The smallest is the 8-inch (925 GPH). Next size up is the 10-inch (1200 GPH). The bigger one states the minimum size pool is 2800 gallons which is more than double mine. Should I stick with the smaller pump which matches my pool, or go one step bigger? Would going bigger be too much for my small pool? Thank you.

    Do you recommend a filter pump combo or separate equipment for a 32' x 16' x 52".... the filter pump coming with my pool is a combo that only holds 77lbs of sand and is a 0.75 hp so i know it's not going to be adequate. BTW luv all your videos!! So Helpful!!

      Thank you. That system is going to work pretty hard to keep he pool clean. i would at least run it 24 hrs a day to help keep up with it. Th smallest system I would recommend is a 1 hp with a 100lb sand filter. Even with this you would run the pump quite a bit to keep the pool clean.

    Hello, we currently have a 1.5 hp pump with a 200 lb sand filter on our 18’ above ground pool. Our pump just blew and I’m looking to replace it. The previous set made vacuuming hard bc the return was so strong. Would it be a good idea to get a 1 hp pump and keep the 200 lb sand filter?

    I have an 18 ft round & my pump died. Buying without proper research I bought a 56 Y 3/4 HP pump which obviously didn’t bolt up to existing pump. I believe my filter is a 16” waterway sand filter. I’m trying to find a pump that will fit the motor I bought, even if I have to buy pump & another motor. I’ve learned that trying to build a wet end by parts is extremely more expensive than just buying a pump w/ motor. The pump I bought is 3/4 HP, SF 1.25, PH 1, type CX, frame P56Y, HZ 60, RPM 3450, volts 230/115, Amps sf 5. 4/10. 8
    Century part # 0-F56AA36A01-25
    Can you make a recommendation so this would just be a spare pump that I could use later?

      Yes I think that system would be more than enough. It's hard to tell you exactly depending on what speed you run it on but a pump like that could probably turn your water over two or three times a day.

    I have a question that really does not have anything to do with this subject but you seem to know what you are talking about soooo...one of the laterals is broken on my sand filter I am having sand pushed back into the pool, they are sending this part to me not sure when it will be here, my question is how do I keep my water stable until I am able to run pump and filter again?

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would probably recommend throwing in some chlorine and run in your filter on the recirculate setting. This will allow you to circulate the water in the pool but you won't have any filtration.

    • @lenoramlopez
      @lenoramlopez 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see anywhere on the filter that says "recirculate" on filter, only bybass to pool, closed, winterize, rinse, filter, bypass to waste and backwash....

    I have a 33 foot round AGP 30k gallons. I have a hayward 27 inch sand filter(350lbs sand) and 2 inch piping and 1 horsepower dual speed pump. Is my pump an okay size? Assume 50ft head.

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds to me as though you might have a 1 horsepower inground pump and if that be the case then yeah that's fine but if it's a 1 horsepower above ground pump you would probably want a little more than that.

    I have a Doughboy 18ft round pool with a 100lb. sand filter. My 1hp pump is only pumping about 5lbs of pressure through my filter. I plug it in and it heats up and shuts itself off after a minute or so. when I unplug it the plug is hot and so is the motor. Pump is not even 2yrs old yet. A friend of my said he'll give me a pump that he never used but it''s a 2hp pump. Is that too much hp for my filter or will it be ok? Trying to save another $230 by buying another pump.

    • @abovegroundpros

      @jmon52 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Above Ground Pros Thanks for the reply. I tried that little trick you show in your video about using a screwdriver and turning the shaft as I plug in the pump and it worked. So far pump working well thanks to you. For future reference if I should end up using the 2hp you said it would work but filter needs cleaning more often. Do you mean that I will have to backwash more often? With my 1hp pump it reads 12lb pressure on my filter. When it gets close to 15lb I backwash till it's back to around 12lb pressure. What would be the pressure on my filter with a 2hp pump. How high should the pressure get before I need to backwash? Thanks for all your help.

    • @abovegroundpros
      @abovegroundpros  8 ปีที่แล้ว
