Several times a week my best friend and I would sneak out after our parents went to bed, "borrow" his parents stick shift car by silently coasting it down the hill in neutral, and proceed to drive to the Korean mini mart where we could buy cigarettes despite clearly not being old enough, and a pile of off brand sodas from a quarter vending machine in front of the local grocery store. All of that probably ran us $5 total. My friend always had this CD with him, and we played it almost every time we went out at night for that whole year. Park the car behind an old dentist's office where nobody ever saw or heard us, roll the tunes quietly with the windows open, and bullshit with each other about high school drama for several hours while leaning up against that Ford Escort wagon, chugging sodas and puffing smokes in the most high school way possible. The night always ended the way it started - coasting that Escort down the road silently right up to his parents house, to the exact same spot where we started. Looking back, I can't believe we never got caught by our parents. I miss those old days all the time - though I haven't touched a cigarette in almost 20 years.
