You never know. Remember both the 720S and F8 Tributo did it on their stock tires. The 488 Pista comes with stickier tires, has the same power and torque as the F8 Tributo, is lighter and has actually gone 10.1 secs before in a video DragTimes shared on this channel. It would be very interesting to see what the Pista would’ve done.

How do you go from 10 flat to 10.4. The F8 will get quicker as it builds more mileage but 720s is still faster in my book. Top vid as usual 👌
yea i can't explain the .3 to .5 second losses either. perhaps he got nervous because there was another driver next to him?? idk, sometimes that can happen. when you run sprints in track and field that can happen. you're cool alone but tense up in competition.

@@technom3598 Well the driver is responsible for the reaction times, and in the McLaren you need to hold the throttle on the brake for a while to build enough boost before a launch. I'm sure the Ferrari is the same in that regard but It's up to the driver to start building the boost early enough.
this is rigged its publicity, 488, 488 pista, F8, ferrari had to make a car to catchup to 720S. and now they rig the race. if he did not have an F8 and was racing an F8 with his 720S the F8 would have lost. that 720S driver should not be driving the 720S.

Lol the 720s hit 10.0x at over 142mph, two times in a row... then all of sudden, it's almost half a second slower.
and running 138mph to 139mph weird like somethings off same with the Huracan it ran 10.44 on the street and then 10.5 to 10,7 vs the ferrari Hmmm we need a rerun of both races.

Given the fact the F8 is heavier and develop less crank power, it's indeed a very efficient machine. I would be nice to see a track focused version, maybe called F8 Corridore (means Racer) that would produce 40hp more, and will get lighter carbon parts to save up 100lbs.

Why? They evenly matched both having street tires. Ferrari has better gearing for the 1/4mile whereas the 720 is geared longer for like a half mile. Also the Ferrari is a little heavier so the 720 eventually would have came past it but took awhile

@@halow4 Those were crap runs for a 720s. A 1.96 sec. 60' time is what you should expect from a stock Mustang GT or Camaro SS with an average driver. I ran faster 60' times in my stock Camaro SS, and that's nothing to brag about. Any decent driver should pull 1.7x out of a McLaren (bone stock).
Paul Robert @the track was repreaped for that run, brooks said it himself, so no wonder it did 10.0, proves also the point , that that other dude is capable of running good times

John Smith because the other driver doesn’t have Brooks talent. Brooks has done 9’s on those tires in similar conditions. Also the other driver was doing 10’s flat and then did over 10.4s during each race. The 720s pulls on the Ferrari in each race and it’s clear if it was launched well it would have been a very different result.
720s is faster and quicker no matter what ..anyways just look at the F8 when shifts to second gear ..it jumps really noticeable!

Haven't you seen the 2020 Porsche 911 turbo s demolish it, and this Ferrari just took 2 of the 3 races. The 720s is fast but no longer the king and remember this F8 is the entry level Ferrari the sf90 is going to be a bit faster than the F8.

I was rooting for the 720s, but the fact is that it lost. Even when the 720s driver jumped the gun in the last 2 races. Doesn't matter much anyway because with 2 cars this closely matched, it really comes down to the driver. The 720s is definitely better souning though

I think the 992 turbo s will have the f8 in the rear view mirror from the 1/8 all the way through the 1/4. I think the 720 might catch the porsche at the line.

Why? Jimmy cut a better light in the second race which won him the race even though Brooks had a better ET in the Ferrari and Jimmy red lit in the third so he obviously wasn't sleeping at the tree.

Ferrari has short gears , it stays between 7 and 8000 rpm for three consecutive gears , Ferrari is in fifth gear while the 720 is still in third, it's not engine response it's gearbox design that makes for the Ferrari speed but still slower than the McLaren

720s makes 690 at the dyno and it only has 710 hp

The f8 in 2nd gear gets it. That's where it all is
and 3rd. From there 720s is slightly faster and keeps going. But hey , 720s has some 70 hp more in reality and that's it.

Also if it was so much more powerful it would be way quicker from 170-200 mph but it’s not! 60-130 is all about power to weight and the 720s is king!

During those 10 flats it also trapped over 141mph. The F8 is fast but honestly, it will never come close to that kind of performance .

For those who are asking for 1/2 mile as 1/4 doesn't show much, need to say that Aston Martins, especially Aston Martin DB11 and DBS Superleggera will give a very tough competition to the F8's, 720s and Huracan Evo Spyder, and if extended upto 1 Mile, the Aston Will beat them all!!!

Jim Wheeler Jim Wheeler It can be confusing for sure! The timing doesn’t reflect it very well up top. It’s the initial reaction timing. The difference in their respective reactions was great enough that at the end of the race the 720 had still not pulled ahead enough to get a better time.
