Learning so much on these videos. I had never used the prism toolpath. It's exactly what I was looking to do on a sign I'm designing. Can't wait to get on my machine and try this.
Thank you for sharing these new techniques! I will put this into practice today! I was wondering how one can muster a 3rd tool change (or 4th or 5th...). This technique details this process in great detail! Thanks Teacher!
Vectric VCP 8.5, Mach 3. Thanks for you YT video it helped a lot. In the cutting I’m making the 60 deg bit for the slanted side lettering is leaving some spaces between the V cut sides that are not cleaned up. Using a 1/4” bit for cleanup. How can I clean those little spaces up, they are as small as 0.100” wide. And I don’t want to use a 1/16” but as the cleanup tool.
It's been a bit since this video was recorded -- but going through the cuts it looks like we've got a 1/2" straight flute for clearing out the majority of the material in the pocket, followed by a 1/8" straight flute for the corners. Then we switch to a 90 deg V-Bit (1/2 cutter diameter) for the V-Carving toolpath. The cutout at the end is done with a 3/8 Compression (up-down cut) bit.
