For those wondering, Banijay is an actual French media company that is the successor of Endemol among others things, and owns : Beyond International Limited, which owns the rights to Mythbusters. Meaning the whole catalogue of Mythbusters will end up here in 1080p at some point if it's not already done.
That's fucking awesome, I love it that ill have a format to binge all this without having to pay a ridiculous price monthly to watch like 5 shows lmao 😅
This style of production is such a whiplash when you binge watch this randomly. Sometimes i stumble on an episode from Season 1 or 3 or 5 and its still all pretty "low" energy in the editing and here theyre suddenly doing movie openings while throwing tomatoes and shooting shrimps at each other lol
I enjoy these openings in a way. But I do miss the more amateurish and casual editing of the earlier seasons. These movie-style scenes would be perfect for a something like a Hollywood special.
@@James-kv6kb Sorry you don't like people expressing themselves precisely, I guess? I'm sure you don't have to be this sensitive about your limited vocabulary, though.
For context, the commercial is for NTT Docomo, a fast internet provider in Japan. The shrimp cannon was the first in a 2 part series, with the second entry a similar 3 second dumpling. They threatened a 3 second spaghetti napolitan at the end of the dumpling ad, but as far as I know they never got to do it.
The correct title for this episode is "Cooking Chaos" and it was originally aired on January 23rd 2016. It is actually episode 4 of the 2016 season. Thank you for the episode shuffle Banijay.
To cook anything with flames, you need enough energy transfer into the thing you want cooked to happen before removing the item to be cooked. There's two ways to do that: 1) You keep the thing in there for a long time. 2) You have the most intensive flame known to exist and can cook items in milliseconds. The second option runs the problem of overcooking the outside and undercooking the inside. To match the results of the fake food cooking video, they would have to fire the shrimp through an intense plasma... While also blasting it with microwaves all the way through the flight for that result to be even remotely possible.
@@RealCadde I mean I could tell it was obviously fake, first off, because it wasn't a single un-cut shot. Secondly, the prawns landing on that dish were inconsistent with that height of a fall from the target.
@@JeffBilkins Yes, it would be interesting indeed. Though they would have to set some sort of restrictions on themselves. Such as, the finished item needs to pass as if it was cooked normally. Not just cooked on the outside and deep frozen on the inside or whatever combination in-between. And technically, the fastest way to cook something (even with the use of the core of a sun) would be to turn it into a fine mist before cooking it. But i don't think aerosolized shrimp would pass as a presentable food item. Though aerosolized shrimp could probably be cooked with the same medium that sprays it into the air... Which would be pretty cool. You could basically spray paint cooked food onto something.
i remember watchin a docu on how advertisement movies for the food sector where made. and i presume the finished video for the flying prawns where multiple shots over a feew days, where it waas specialised people that had made every part of the setup to work within the specific shots needs. ye all know those burger ads where the burger falls and assembles. its a string rig where they simply lay it down quickly and keeps doing the set up until they get a take they can use. they may have spend a whole month on that prawn shot video alone O.o
6:32 now that is a sentence I never thought I would hear Jamie say. I also agree I stopped watching MB a long while back but I have to agree I am much more of a fan of just Adam and Jamie. The other build team were ok but they were doing myths that we are not tuning in for. It's always A&J with the best myths to test.
I kind of expected the shrimp cannon to not work like it did in the video since they was clearly perfectly fried it was way to evenly browned to be from a fire
Infact that "instant tempura" video is made by a japanese mobile carrier and used for showing how fast the LTE network is And the tomato video is from a real vegetable juice company
Got me more nerd-angry that BTU is a measure of total energy, like joules or calories. BTUs for how long? Saying they have 3,000,000 BTUs of heating is like saying "My ride is so powerful because it has a 300L fuel tank". That could be a top fuel dragster that uses it in a few seconds to go 1/4 mile at eyebleeding speed, or a ride on mower that can go across a continent at a walking pace...
The tomato one wasn't plausible, it was confirmed. And they didn't use a wide straw like in the original video which would have caused more juice to be released from the tomato.
3 million BTU vs 15 thousand, but you cook the food for a lot of minutes, whereas it doesn't even get exposed to 3m btu for a full second. It's all fun stuff, but you can immediately tell that the video is unrealistic.
I feel just Jamie and Adam is more entertaining just by themselves, I don't know why, I thought I like the build team, but watching without them it actually more fun in a way..
The build team was originally introduced because the network didnt see Jamie and Adam being able to test enough myths by themselves in the time they had. Love em or leave em, they did aid in us seeing a lot more myths, which at the end of the day, is really what the shows about.
If they made a Solid case out of Plexiglass for the tomato they could have put the Tomato right up against the blasting cap. The tomato-skin would be protected and Maximum chock will be the result.
A longer power stroke (a longer barrel with a more gentle acceleration curve) would also have allowed the shrimp to move faster without damaging them The same reason a rifle will shoot further and more accurately than a pistol with the same caliber bullet, and how we can fly planes at the speed of sound but die from a 20mph car crash
idk this episode feels like a cashgrab the premise is literally "lets replicate this viral video i saw" its not about the scientific methode non of the results have any importance or have some kind of interesting implications they didnt test tanksizes, diffrent explosives, maybe what happends if you use oil instead of water or diffrent sizes of tomatoes and the shrimp myth was so specific and doomed from the start you couldnt really test/alter any parameters even if they used idk a tesla coil to cook the shrimp both of the myths feel like something from a mythathon just a small myth with no real story other than "does it work ?" but stretched to get a full episode
Does Jamie really speaks Japanese? Or was this just a matching gag and they have told him what to say. But for that it sounded too well spoken to be just repeated. 😳
I wouldnt be too surprised if he could. He's clearly an intelligent, experienced man. And he's already known to be bilingual (Russian). So being able to speak another language isnt too much of a stretch for him.
Its mythbusters. They did this shit all the time. Movies, ads, games. They tested all sort of stuff that shouldnt work at all. And a few of them turned out plausible
Most boring video of Mythbusters... :( And ,,smoothing" only one tomato with explosive charge its waste of money. They could,, smooth" 2 kg (or more)in one explosion

When I first saw this episode years ago and saw Jamie pull out the launcher I was like “GUNS IN A FOOD FIGHT?! IS THAT EVEN ALLOWED?!”
Shrimpnel 😂😂😂😂
What are the chances any of these prawns ever could have imagined what their ultimate outcome was going to be?
Any pink prawn is already precooked🤷🏼♂️
They are. Which makes me think, what about just coating up precooked shrimp with a coating of ingredients? The heat might be enough in that case...
Partially pink pawns are practically precooked.

What's wrong with Joules? Or even calories?
It was the time of BTU's last hurrah, dying after for the superior metrics.

they use plausible because even though the results were the same, they could not confirm the original used a legit method like they did
In the original video, the shrimp are pink, so cooked already. That's the difference.
Yes, and the original video was faked.
they are called prawns mate

When Adam juiced the tomatoes for the control, didn't he juice the entire tomato and not just the insides?
I don't think 0.25 mm would have a noticeable difference imo
