"Dangerous Dan" I was "gifted" a pile of fiberglass backers and a dry paper roll of targets. I never strayed from the 0.303B, for 30 years. Decade ago, I finally bought a 30-30. Less recoil and lighter to carry. I sincerely am indebted, to the kind and knowledgeable shooters and the professionals who shared time. I was a 20 something kid, who had better eyesight than most. I was honing my restricted skills early on. The first competition, I shared a ride with 2 gents who were 20 years older than I. I had a full-on buck fever. Rather than imagining myself on the home range, plunking into to X ring, I was looking left and right, seeing grey hair and psyched myself out. 5 years on, I was lucky enough to have an invite to a RCMP range. I was using a Ruger Bull barrel. One gent was on the range, grey rain coat, suit- tie, carrying a 357 under the shoulder. I waited until he was done, then intro'd myself and asked if I could approach the line. We both shot targets and struck a conversation, until the rest of the shooters arrived. He was part of the Protective detail. Nice chap, he recommended the force as a career. I never did take up that challenge, but each time a member has been struck down, I think back. I hope that I have been like a sponge, when squeezed, I have given back to new shooters. I take my Dad shooting, and while we have ready made excuses, it is just about burning some powder and chatting. Service Rifle - was something I think I saw the start of, some long time ago, 1000yds. I was 17 and patching targets, in the butts. After the shoot, I became aware that the gent shooting my target was a WW1 vet. He was hitting in a 24 inch circle. I just listened to the older men talk. Great times.

Watching Ryan and myself shooting at 12:24 brings back memories. It is amazing how far we pushed each other over the years.

Another great video RC. Even the usmc vs army qualifying ranges are different. Even as much as I've been to the range I'm always remembered to go back to the basics. Sight alignment / picture, breathing, trigger control and such. Also practicing each position to get comphertible. There's so much stuff that goes into the basics that once mastered can bring much success.

In the United States we usually shoot 20” AR variant rifles at 200 300 and 600 yards. It’s a blast and has increased my confidence in my own marksmanship as well as my ability to make hits hunting or any other shooting activity.

I respect your affinity for the great Enfield , but i would love to see you do review and shoot with the new Tikka Arctic Canadian Ranger rifle . You are uniquely qualified to wring one out . would love to see your opinions on it.

I haven't shot the C19 to any extensive degree however I am very familiar with the T3 platform. I have incredible faith in what it is capable of when it comes to speed and accuracy.

I ran my number four... mind you this was years ago , and when I was in the service we ran both the FNc1a1, and the c7. I started shooting DCRA with cadets, then My unit ran a team in Ontario the QYR. I then ran as a civi for a couple of years with my Brit number 4

Awesome. Were they still issuing ammunition to all shooters back then? I'd love to spend more time at Connaught - hallowed ground.

In regards to one of your previous videos regarding having a company to produce worn/wearing Enfield components... As a fellow Canuck in Ontario, I may have a few options for you! How may I be in communique with you on a more private venue than TH-cam regarding this? Sincerely, James

Good Day Chair. Could we see the headings of the columns in your rifle diary? I like that book. Reminds me of my “...right in the rain...” diaries. Also greetings to all subscribers and trust you will remember to oppose Bill C-71.

Do you have the option to bring your own ammo to these matches? Here in Switzerland for « vaguely similar » matches (no moving targets, but 300m service rifle and B4 target goo.gl/images/xU5p7e) the ammo is provided by the army and the same for everyone...we shoot 1985 stuff this year because they found an old stock in a cavern :p

minutemanqvs I don’t mind if the ammo is provided. Everyone has the same advantages and disadvantages and the best Marksman wins. DCRA matches used to be like this here in Canada. Lucky that the Swiss make match grade ammo! Providing your own ammo does provide a competitive edge over other competitors who don’t know how to roll their own.
