    Converting a lidl chuck glider into a Rc Slope Flying Wing.
    For a fast aerobatic Slope model.
    The Sparr is 6x6x920mm spruce hot glued into a slot to support the wing.
    I use cloth tape to cover the wing and give it extra strength starting from the rear of the wing. When one side was complete i slide the wing into the body and finished fitting the remaining Aileron and covered with tape .
    When finished Hot glued into position.
    Servos where fitted in the same way as my previous builds as was the radio gear.
    Ailerons to be controlled using a delta mix on the radio.
    GoG is 40mm from the leading edge And is very sensitive around that point as most flying wings are
    Test flight to follow.

    Great! Would you mind telling me what battery works with a regular receiver in there? Or do I need to use a 2 cell lipo with UBEC? Thank you

    • @RcAircraft
      @RcAircraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used a 450mAh 2s Lipo and Bec to reduce weight and to hit my CoG mark. A standard 4.8v NiCad pack might have to be fitted further back for the correct CoG position. Hope that helps.👍🏻

    Where is the CH on this one?

    • @RcAircraft
      @RcAircraft  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, where is the CH ?
      Do you mean balance point ? . If so at the moment i am waiting for the weather to break so i can test fly it, here in the Uk we have heavy rain fall all week.

      Sorry, the keyboard helped me to mistype...
      Yes I meant C of G, we call CG here in Brazil.
      I have a similar project using an MPX EasyGlider, I am still wondering the balance point and how much up trim to get it flying...
      Any suggestions are very welcome!

      @@ladraode9dedos409 Usually a good starting point is 1/3rd back from the leading edge and 3mm up on both elevators also known as reflex .
      Test glide over long grass and adjust nose weight to get a good glide.When happy be Brave and chuck it of a big hill :-)

    What method do you use to get rid of the tip dihedral please Steve? or is the spar just holding it flat against its tension?
    To get more dihedral on the R/E one I cut & re-glued (Por)
    Now I've seen how well yours flies, I think this might be my next Lidl conversion !

      I bend the wing gently then it is the sparr that keeps it in position. I have a nicad pack in the nose for both power and to aid balance which is on the wing tips, yes it is that far forward 👍

    Hey Stephen. wow i just came across this video. i saw a glider in lidl the other day and bought it and thought how cool to strap a ducted fan and servos on. ive never flown a rc plane, except my rc ducted fan 4ft cardboard box i built last week (id had a scrap edf , tx rx and battery from a smashed f16 from a decade ago). It didnt last long as my battery fell out my TX as the wing climbed to 75feet 😂😂 . got it on video too lol... shame as i was super happy id managed to get it flying with no prior experience or plans, a lack of thrust for the weight too almost 2kilos!
    (always had an interest in aerodynamics of full size planes and flying wings mind you )
    anyway i didnt even know people did this with these lidl gliders i thought i might be the first. turns out there are hundreds haha.
    anyway be nice to chat, and im only in sheffield, youre in huddersfield, right?
    regards
    Mark

    Today's first flight, great for a first. Some small adjustments to be made at the control rods to bring the servo horn more to the center.

    • @RcAircraft
      @RcAircraft  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes a little adjustment here and their is par for the coarse with any model. Flying wings or plank as some call, you need to find their sweet spot to have them flying the you like.

    If the canopy is glued with hot glue you may use alcohol to pour into the crack.

    what is the benefit to have a so short tale? thanks

    • @RcAircraft
      @RcAircraft  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A short movement arm is more aerobatic, a longer movement arm is more stable, But you can get away with smaller surface area so less drag if further away.
      So all depends on what performance you are after.
      Hope that helps

    • @flyingtonyw
      @flyingtonyw 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe more pleasing to the eye. My experiences with wings, much further forward cg, critical and don't tend to loop as well as conventional. But I love wings and less to mess with,

      Hi, Yes i used Hot Glue, I thought the foam would be ok. Now i know it`s NOT Ok, so No More Nails Wood Glue would make for a better choice even if it is slower.
