  • A quick look at the Lockwood NOS drawer/cupboard latch type lock from the GMH Woodville Plant Adelaide. A special order from Lockwood back in the day for specific GMH use maybe. I forgot to mention the GMH W stamping on the bezel. And hopefully an answer for Un Common Sense and an item that might be of interest to the Canadian Pitbull:-)

    Breaks my heart seeing my beloved GMH gone for our shore's for every but its great to see part of its history even a small piece like this preserved .. I miss my LH Torana

    Memories mate, going to miss Holden. Hey with the drag race you have on with Chris and Suki, might to time to change the motor of the Bentley to a Monaro GT I think it was the 351. Now that was a beauty. Great info for Un co and the Pitbull.

    Seen a 234 with a lockwood twin core a few weeks back.
    Good bit of history on the old GMH lock.

      Would have been a nice one to have. But too steep for my wallet lol

    Hi Paul, That wafer Lockwood "cupboard" lock was fitted on the spare wheel compartment of the Holden panel vans. The compartment was at the rear below the panel van rear doors. I believe they used them from 1963 EJ through EH, HR, HD and perhaps beyond, I'm not sure when they stopped producing the panel vans. Anyway that's where GMH used these locks. Regards, Brian.

      @@brianhignett8954 lol!! Holden padlocks show up from time to time on eBay. But I think these were for locking the spare wheel in the car boot.

    Sweet cabinet lock. I bought some recently but they are the default warded cabinet lock type from the 70's. Keep the GMH lock, anything GMH will now go up in price.

      Thanks Cherokee. Yeah, the little sods hang around to try and get into my iced coffee which is always to the side. Been lucky so far, only lost one iced coffee the a hoard of sugar ants:-)

    What were Holden using the cabinet locks for? Couldn't have been for their crappy glove boxes.

      Brian has pretty much set me/us straight with the initial use of the locks. If you read his comment then you will get the story of their use. Interesting connection between Ogdens and GMH:-)
