I'm proud to say that my Late Grandfather was a Chelsea Pensioner, he was proud to serve his Country like any British Citizen . Forget the borders , we are one Nation only divided by lines on a MAP . Everyone in England is of mixed Blood , Celts , Norwegian , Irish, French you name it its in our BLOOD , But we are one Nation only diveded by Lines on a MAP. My Ancestors are both Irish and Scottish , I'm proud I'm of mixed Blood . And do you know why! Because I'm British of mixed Blood . Because of Generations of intermixing . I'm proud of my Ancestral Roots , I'm also proud to live in England. Because this is where I live .P.S. Wear your Poppy with PRIDE, I do and I did in Greece for 23 years, now I wear my Late Fathers medals on Remembrance Sunday .

to be a chelsea pensioner all you need to be is ex military and be prepared to give up your military pension to pay for living quarters in the hospital

I wish just for once the voice over would have a day off when this section of the concert comes. This is song almost sacred to us, the last thing we need is some twit mumbling on during a special occasion like this.

    Lyrics of the Old Brigade
Where are the boys of the old Brigade, Who fought with us side by side? Shoulder to shoulder, and blade by blade, Fought till they fell and died! Who so ready and undismayed? Who so merry and true? Where are the boys of the old Brigade? Where are the lads we knew?
Then steadily shoulder to shoulder,Steadily blade by blade!Ready and strong, marching alongLike the boys of the old Brigade!

Sung with the proper lyrics: Oh father why are you so sad on this bright Easter morn'
When Irish men are proud and glad of the land where they were born
Son I see in memories view of far-off distant days
When being just a lad like you I joined the IRA
Where are the lads who stood with me when history was made
Oh Ghrá Mo Chroí, I long to see the boys of the old brigade
From hills and farms the call to arms was heard by one and all
And from the glen came brave young men to answer Ireland's call
It was long ago we faced the foe, the old brigade and me
And by my side they fought and died that Ireland might be free
Where are the lads who stood with me when history was made
Oh Ghrá Mo Chroí, I long to see the boys of the old brigade
And now my boy I've told you why on Easter morn' I sigh
For I recall my comrades all of dark old days has gone by
I think of men who fought in glen with rifle and grenade
May heaven keep the men who sleep from the ranks of the old brigade
Where are the lads who stood with me when history was made
Oh Ghrá Mo Chroí, I long to see the boys of the old brigade
