Multumesc!
Very impressive build! I like that you were able to repurpose the old TV IF coils! Thanks for including the dimensions and number of turns on them. I'm running out of the ones I saved from sets I dismantled as a kid and of course they don't make them anymore so I have been looking for ways to make my own.
Excellent project. I also had problems screening home made coils. It turned out that the screening can was too close to the coil. Screening must be at least twice the coil diameter on all sides, otherwise it acts as a shorted turn and destroys the coil Q. The ECH84 is slightly different to the ECH81, the 84 was used in TVs, the 81 was radio mixer and can be AGC controlled via G1. Valve radios are awesome and easier to build than solid state.
7:40 Your IF transformer might be tuned at the edge of its tuning range By adding the shield the coils inductance is lowered. That means you are out of the needed frequency range (455Kc) The tuning range depends on the core`s position, [core inserted into the coil 420kc ------------455kc-------------480kc core inserted partially into the coil] . Now, if your IFT tunes like this [ core inserted into the coil 455------480-------500 kc core inserted partially into the coil ] then by adding the shield inductance value gets less so it means you need to push the core inside the coil to increase the inductance but you are already fully inside.
Hello, you can receive many more stations, even at night. If you turn the ferrite antenna three turns to an empty position where there is no wire. Wire 1 must be connected to the ground and the other end of the wire to a water METAL gutter in a house, then you will receive 100 stations. I did that 55 years ago. For AM and shortwave Not for FM
Try to move the coil on the ferrite a little. But you have some local oscillation ... hearing those "peeps" when you are changing the varco. Radio works nice
Very nice! I wanted to write good luck with... but you already have success!!! LOL Does it also receive NL pirates around 6200 or 6300 - 6400KHz - AM VrGr Rob
Impresionanta sensibilitatea si selectivitatea acestui radio!
Multumim pt schema si datele bobinelor.

Thank you. Concerning the coils, you could try to print some using a 3D printer with ABS (or PLA if there is no heat source near the coils)
The receive sounds very nice, well done!👍
Thanks, Ian! All the best!
Great work, to build a valve radio that works so well. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for lesson in IF transformers!
Fajny odbiornik. Podobne filtry prułem z naszych starych telewizorów. Pozdrowienia z Polski.
Very good Work Congratulations
Tnx!
NIce Radio and project!!

Thanks for the IF infos, I will try to use a larger screen shield!
Good result and work with open IF coils ( without screening ).
20:59 This is a Greek station or might be the Radio Pianica in Bulgaria I think.

Good work! if you want some advice you should shield the IF coils
Hi. You are right, but, for some reason (not just because de-tuninig induced by Al shield) if I try to shield them, the radio stops working....
@@perianmarcel2059 Ah OK!
Very nice

Radio works nice
I have already adjusted the core inside the input coil, that seems to be the best position....
done perfectly
Thank you!
Sir can you provide the full circuit details and diagram please ???
Have you watched the movie till it's end? Circuit is at min 24...
stil cool stuf ..tubes .. ech84
