- A new video of 3 different tools can be found here: • 3 DIY Gutters Cleaning... In this new video I now claim my gutter cleaning without a ladder can be faster than the traditional cleaning with a ladder.
The original video:
Climbing ladder to clean your gutter has health risks. Each year, 100K people fall from ladders. 90% of those victims did not watch my video:), the remaining 10% people who watched my video but still fell says: it is a very simple job I am doing, there is no way I could fall.
In this video, I share with you some ideas without costing you much. You are welcome to leave your ideas or "inventions" here as well. Remember it saves you time and money long term if you don't climb at all, don't fall from the ladder. If you can clean your gutter without climbing a ladder, without expensive machine, using what you already have, you will have a lot to brag about at your next party.

This little baby packs a punch for the price (just over 30 bucks). I'm comparing it to an old Craftsman blower that recently died after about 15 years. So far I've used it four times th-cam.com/users/postUgkx9IdbewMd3eOaX3SS_kV4wC73v6yWG2KY and it's done an excellent job. It's light, and it moves leaves and debris very well. It's a little shorter than the craftsman, but it's fairly easy to manage. I don't ever use the front grip (requiring both hands). If I did, it would increase the distance between the blower and the debris, or it would require me to bend over awkwardly. I'm 6' 3", so I just hold it (since it's light enough) with one hand down at my side and it's a perfect fit. It's also back-heavy, making it easy to maneuver up/down/left/right motions of the blower end. As a final perk, I can actually appreciate the safety cord lock feature, since my other blower's lack of a decent one caused my power cord connector to start falling apart, due to all of the pulling, etc. If you're not ready to spend 200 - 400 on a gas leaf blower, and you don't mind messing with a cord 2 to 4 times a month, then this thing is for you.
Very good for those who have a fear of heights & those who are elderly or cannot climb! Thank you!
thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
I love your careful, meticulous style of teaching, definitely subscribing, and I love that you do your work in such a neat , patient way, and handsome clothes! My little one floor house is very accessible but gutters still a pain, so I will def do the pvc routine.
thank you for your kind words and taking the time to provide feedback
Glad you can appreciate this. It is also important to let your kids to watch you while you are doing it, so that they may become a little smarter gradually.
An old cell phone would be a good use for the camera part. I've got several old phones I've kept figuring they'd come in handy for something one day :)
@@Christy.1 very true. In 2012, digital cameras were very common. Since then we have a newer version of this video using cell phones or gopro : th-cam.com/video/PnJm90LclYs/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for taking the time to chime in.
I used your paint roller cam before and after cleaning my gutters (on 2 story house). I could easily see clogged areas and that they were freed. THANKS!!!!
Thank you for sharing your result
Robert Lawson i also have a two story gutter in the back of my house i can reach 15 feet of it off my deck but cant reach the other 15 feet and suggestions on how to clean the last 15 feet

A lot of good and simple ideas. I can re-use them for different tasks. Thanks! :D

some new ideas and for high gutters, check out our new video here: th-cam.com/video/PnJm90LclYs/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the idea! I made my own ABS pipe (with 2- 45 degree fittings) gutter cleaner--it worked great! Blob of stuff cleaned right out and I didn't have to try putting up a 15' ladder by myself.
yes, the 45 degree would work. Thanks for sharing.
some new ideas, check out our new video here: th-cam.com/video/PnJm90LclYs/w-d-xo.html
Thank you very much for your video. It worked. Since I was banned from climbing onto the roof by my family, I had to opt to other ways from the ground. Luckily I got a used 16 ft long pole for $5 from a pawn shop and I used two paint paint roller frames;one for camera to video record the status of the gutter and the other one with a fork made from a hanger wire to push down the leaves which were clogging ( covering ) the entry for the downspout. I had to add and extension wood and taped it to the roller frame so the fork reaches to the entry of the spout. I worked well for my situation. Thanks again.
thank you for sharing your solution, I can imagine the pretty picture ^_^

I like your time management skills, instead of spending time (and money) going to a doctor's office, we better use that time doing things safely. what a wise man!

wow excellent solution, very clever... thank you.
+Emanuela Davis thank you for your feedback
This was VERY helpful! I never would have thought of using a camera to see what was up there! You are a genius! I am going to try these tips next time the gutter gets clogged! Thank you!

That two inch abs pipe with the elbow is a fantastic idea. Thanks so much for your video . Great idea re the camera. I have a boat and will do this when working on my motor.

Love the part about Avoiding Pain and Suffering as well as the Doctor's Co-pay'.....great video!
Hope this video can help someone to avoid the fall. Or at least some viewers are persuaded not to climb.
Great tips. Thank you for making this video.

Came to your channel to review your car idle video, and saw this video, which reminded me about my clogged gutter. 5 mins this morning with a paint roller and an extention pole, and my gutter is flowing nicely. Thanks Asian Fix It Dad!
Thank you for your feedback.
Great idea about the phone camera! I will try it tomorrow. I have rigged up an air hose through a 3/4" PVC pipe to a "T", capped on one end and a 1/8" hole on the other end. I connect to my compressor and it blows the stuff out. I do need to put a ball valve at the handle to stop the air vs shutting down the compressor. Now I'll use the camera to see where I need to use the hose. One more step to make it easy and safe! Thanks so much!
Thank you for taking the time to share your setup and to contribute to the topic. FYI, we also have a newer video: th-cam.com/video/PnJm90LclYs/w-d-xo.html
I like your ideas. So brilliant! Very helpful. We can save a lot of money now.
Hi, I used your PVC pipe with the hose inside on some particularly hard to reach 2nd story gutters and it worked a treat. thanks for your video. :)

I just cleaned my gutters last weekend. I never thought about the camera on a pole trick! Nice one.
the fewer times you climb the ladder, the smaller probability of falling.
I will be trying it this weekend, thank you!
also make sure check out this newer video: th-cam.com/video/PnJm90LclYs/w-d-xo.html
Excellent video, as I don't have the money to hire someone to clean my gutters and since I am older climbing a ladder is not an option.

great video and great ideas
thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
glad to hear it is useful. Is your camera so heavy you had to use two 2"x1"x8'? Would one 2"x1"x8' work?
Extremely innovative great idea with pipe and elbow ! Thanks
thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
I appreciate your sense of humor more than anything!
glad you enjoyed the humor.
Your hose-in-a-pipe is absolutely BRILLIANT, yay and THANK YOU!! Seriously extremely clever!
well the camera on a pole was also great but I'll skip that part and use the hose in a pipe. I have a 1950's house so the gutters are very easy to clean using an 8 foot step ladder but there is one section where a step ladder won't fit (because of a raised brick fence). Was planning on installing gutter guards but honestly after your idea of a hose in a pipe, think I'll just clean them that way once a year. Again thank you very much, you just saved me a whole lot of money!!
thank you for sharing
Very helpful suggestions! Also, it's so true...many people fall off ladders and have a lifetime of suffering. Be safe is always good advice :)

yes, you have a good idea also worth trying, especially if you don't have a hose. Use coat hanger to remove big branches and use vac to fish out small debris.

Thank you for this. I also use a hose through a rigid pipe, which I hold and guide, to syphon rubbish from the bottom of above-ground pool.

Good ideas. I used my gopro on an extended pole to safely check out the clog. Hurricane is headed our way and I noticed gutters overflowing yesterday. Thanks for the video.
Yes, the Hurricane would make the problem worse. Good luck to you and stay safe

I have a gutter which has many trees above it and the down pipe always get clogged.
I've drilled and inserted a hose attachment so when the gutter is clogged. I attached my hose, turn the water on and it blasts the blockage and clears my gutters.
I'm looking at a way to attach the hose in a permanent way so it looks like. So all I need do is turn on the tap from time to time.
Maybe a second skin to the down pipe to hide the hose will work?
I've tried gutter guard screens but the leaves just lay over the guard and the water ends up just running straight off the roof.

Use a ladder stabilizer to get safer on a roof. Managed to in Winter time to put heat cables on our roof and also used a ladder clamp to hook onto the gutter and even put a heavy block behind the ladder so could reach further to put wires on the ROOF. Felt very safe and secure then! But this is in general a helpful Idea too! And while putting up the cables also was able with a scoop to clean a messy gutter that even had a gutter cover on it which was removed to do the cleaning.
thank you for taking the time to share your experiences
Heat cables inside the gutter to melt snow? Does it stay there permanently?
Nice!

Bless his heart! Corg, my mother was French and was always coming up with these kinds of ingenious ideas. ;^)

Not that I got any new ideas...we have mostly flat roof at our house, but I loved the video. The host is awesome. Seriously, CorgLLC for President. Imagine the money our government would save. I have actually seen my neighbor build similar tools for gutter cleaning, so these are inventive, and good tips to use.

Hi....I'm looking to install a gutter guard on my grandparents house but need one with minimal maintenance, for obvious reasons. I've seen ur video which is very helpful. I did, however, hear of, I think they are called Rhino Gutter Guard, if I spelled that correctly, but not sure how good they really are. Have u come across this type of gutter guard and If so, what do u think of it? I'm seeking all the info I can possibly get to be able to make an informed decision. Ur help will be greatly appreciated.
Guards can reduce cleaning, however be aware that seeds, fir needles, and other small debris can clog the holes in the guards. You can't hose or brush them off. You need clean them otherwise the water simply shoots over the top.
If you have unlimited budget, there's Gutter Glove that's cool.
If you're a poor miser like me, I bought a plastic screen from Amerimax (#85198), 5$ per roll, which so far does the job in stopping big leaves from clogging the gutters. It won't stop the shingle grit though. Still sucked to install it high up on the ladder. I HATED it.
The big test will come this fall and winter with more leaves and whether it will support the snow.
***** let us know if it gets clog very easily and water over shoots your gutters.
corgLLC :)
Love!

Thanks for the good tips. I'm hoping to tackle my clogged gutters tonite with a hose attached to an extendable pole. It's two stories high and I'm hoping the pole will reach the gutters while I'm on an extension ladder. Just hoping I won't have to climb too high on the ladder.
yes, let us know how it goes. Just be aware that the backwards reaction force from water jet could be very strong. Also the higher the elevation, the lower water pressure is provided.
