  • Lydd (Ferryfield) Airport, operated by Silver City Airways, Silver City brought their cross channel operation from nearby Lympne Airport in 1954 and by 1959 made Lydd the third busiest airport in the UK. Many thanks to Peter Player for this short clip of film, which features him and his family going on their holidays.

Back in 1951 we flew to Le Touquet from Ferryfield .Then in 1953 we flew from Eastley to Cherbourg .Years later in 1969-71 we flew from Ferryfield again to Basel . Loved low flying over France you could see so much .

We flew in them in the 1950's from Lydd. It was a terrible raining day! Got in side it, sat down and the rain poured in!😍😀😁😂. Best holiday we ever had. Thank you very much Silvercity Airways.
