A bit confused. I will be in Athens for 5 days, but have read one can walk everywhere easily or that taxis are cheap. I had planned on taking the Metro from airport to my hotel downtown. Now I’m wondering if I should buy one of those 5 days tickets instead. Also, I am over 65 so do I have to purchase at window and show someone my ID?

You can buy a bus ticket from the ticket booth he shows in the video (its in syntagma square) the price is 5.50

It’s 4.10€
It’s generally not worth getting one except if you use the public transportation for over 4.5 hours in a day or if you want to use bus line X80 (to use it you need a 24 hr ticket).
In all other cases get 3 tickets and use those (2 for 2.30€ and 1 for 1.2€. Total: 3.6€)

Hi if you buy a 5 day ticket from the machine is it already validated or do you have to validate it in a machine before boarding?
You have to validate it for the 5 days to start counting and then you validate it to enter AND exit a metro station and only when entering a bus, trolley bus or tram

It doesn't need recharging as long as the 5 day-period is not over. What do you mean go anywhere in Greece? This ticket is valid only for Athens.
Electric railway is just metro M1
There are actually 3 lines not 2
The third one is electric train
