  • Is the Bianchi Specialissima the best Italian race bike you can buy right now? It definitely impresses with great handling and silky smoothness and it’s packing loads of modern tech, but it commands a big price tag. Is it worth the money?

Record modulates, Shimano also nice, but a bit more on/ off, like you say. I believe Magura is Campagnolo`s hydraulics partner.

      Due to a cardiac siuation in the recent past, my wife convinced me to transition from Swift carbon road to Bianchi Aria e-road. Its been the best decision I could ever take to extend my riding years. A Bianchi in celeste is a head turner in any model and the Aria e-road has been the best rehab I could have ever asked for. Its a superb carbon bike with the lowest e-assist power among e-bikes. For the most part I ride sans e-assist, but avail of it only when needed, as I live in a hilly area. Here is the issue I have with all this “neat and tidy“ front ends. As a shop owner and mechanic it’s a hard conversation to have with a customer when A simple job like lubing the headset bearings or replacing the headset bearings turns into a several hundred dollar job because of all the work that’s required. If you’re not aware, the hydraulic lines on most of these bikes are running through the headset bearings and so to remove the headset bearings you have to remove the hydraulic lines. The front hydraulic line is routed through the headset and then through the fork not that big of a deal. However the rear, hydraulic line is running through the headset through the frame and all the way out to the rear triangle. Also during Covid times hydraulic lines And fittings are at an extremely short supply. You will at the very least have to do a brake bleed but will most likely have to cut the hydraulic lines and replace them which means running new lines internally through the entire frame for the rear most likely having to remove the Crankset and bottom bracket as well. All this just to make the front end nice and tidy. STUPID AF

    • @adamsenik2573
      @adamsenik2573 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And for that reason I dislike new ideas such as internal cable routing or electronic groupsets. I own Trek Emonda ALR, and it is a headache to replace cables (they run only through bottom tube) compared to my commuter, which has got full external routing. I wanted to buy aero bars, but the idea of disassembling, assembling and bleeding the brakes have put me off.
      Another issue is electronic shifting. As cool as it sounds, I can't imagine spending few thousands pounds for something that won't improve my performance. Last week, when I went for a ride in Yorkshire Dales, I was overtaken by a cyclist who owned DuraAce Di2. I managed to keep up with him on my Trek with Tiagra.

    • @marcokalle2452
      @marcokalle2452 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@adamsenik2573 so what you are saying is that Dura Ace Di2 slows a cyclist down? Or that Tiagra gives you marginal gains over Dura Ace Di2? It's not about what gear you ride, but i'm actually very happy with my Sram Force AXS 12-speed wireless shifting. Do i need it? Not neccessarily. Do i still go slower sometimes than the occasional old punter on a steel bike with downtube 7-speed shifters? Probably. But who cares. Ride what you like and can afford. And can afford to replace

    Thanks for the video, you posed the question does Celeste paint matter, well as the fortunate owner of 2 rim brake Specialissima’s one is a Pantani Oropa Anniversary painted in the 1999 Mercatone uno colours and the other is a 2021 Celeste, they do still offs the rim brake frameset in the new colour way, I can say the Celeste shows off the lines of the bike much better, to an extent where it doesn’t even look like the same frame, so personally Celeste is best.
    My dislike of this new bike is the staggering amount of weight disc brakes add, 7.5 kilos without pedals is crazy heavy, my rim brake bike weighs 6.1 kilos on Bora 50 wheels, with pedals, power meter, Garmin mounts and bottle cages! As a light rider of just 53 kilos there is no way I would buy this disc brake bike, I understand why some heavier riders will prefer discs but for a light rider like myself, discs are a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.

    7.5kg with a frameset weight similar to the Giant TCR SL’s? The TCR Advanced Pro 0 (~100g heavier frameset + ultegra di2) is only 7.2kg (a TCR SL bike is sub 7kg). Where is the extra 300g on this bike coming from?

    My infinito CV has those axles bolts but the front is always working itself loose. I've tried cleaning both female and male threads to no avail. And you've noticed I'm sure, that you can't torque properly with a wrench. How do we win against that bolt? Mind you the rear is fine.

    • @davidsherwood8286
      @davidsherwood8286 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ive had that problem with my infinito CV, like you i cleaned the threads and before every ride i check both front & rear through axles and give them a little extra twist, which seems to have sorted it out.

      Have not had issues on my CV with the threads coming loose on the front or rear axle. Try a thicker viscosity grease and tighten!

      the bike is pretty pricey, but I think the real outrage is how low average salaries are. I saw something recently that said had the upper classes not rigged the system since the start of the 80s, the median wage in the USA would be $92K. I expect it would be similar for the UK (in GBP obviously, say 55K GBP)
