  • In today's video, we head on a tour of Ford’s Theatre in Washington DC. We bought tickets online and they are really cheap. This gives you a reservation so that you can guarantee a spot. The tickets also include a tour at the house where Lincoln died called The Petersen House, which is right across the street. The tour is self-guided and you start with going to the museum which had a lot of artifacts and items that the Lincoln’s used. Two of the craziest items there are the actual gun that John Wilkes Booth used to shoot Lincoln and the pillow that Lincoln laid on that still had his blood on it. It was pretty crazy to see both of those items. There is also a really good bookstore down there. After that, you go up the stairs and you head to the actual theatre. In the theatre, you get to see the box that Lincoln was shot in. Although the items in the box are not the original, it is pretty wild to see the box where it happened. You used to be able to go in the box but now they don’t let you. After viewing the theatre, you then head across the street to The Petersen House, where Lincoln ended up dying. You get to step foot in the actual bedroom it happened. He bed was not the real bed as it is in Chicago. After that, you get to see a massive book tower that has all the books written about Lincoln. Finally, we went back in the museum store and looked around. We would highly recommend going to Ford’s Theatre in Washington DC and seeing a bit of history!
Stay tuned for another video coming soon. Thanks so much for watching! God Bless!!!

Glad so many items have been preserved. Too many times, history is destroyed.

You do know that the whole inside of the theatre is a reconstruction. It closed after the assassination, and was turned into an office building. In about 1880 the inside fell down. Rebuilt in 1950's ? This is a Disney reconstruction. Even the back wall was rebuilt. Only the three outside walls are original. They should have told you.

It was more of being in the actual location of where it happened and all the history that took place in the streets between the two buildings. Thanks for sharing this info as no one said that!
