There are 101 trainees from different entertainment agencies (and also independent ones) who competed. Some of these trainees also have groups of their own before (like the case of Hwang Minhyun of NU'EST/Wanna One). They were chosen through a series of online voting. He didnt debut in the final line up bcs of lack of screeentime until the peformances started people started seeing how damn talented and handsome he is bcs in peformances they cant give someone more screentime then the other so it was fair and people started changing their bias to him but ofc thats not enough bcs some people have been stanning someone since the beginning and they cant just change that and hangyul went through a lot in his past like with his parents, his biologic parents left him and after years he got adopted. And plus the life of a trainee
Hangyul can dance,sing,rap at a high level he is very good at achrobatics(flips and other stuf) and he is good at playing instruments and he did taekwondo and has abs
And is handsome overal he's a perfect (idol)trainee
Info about X1: X1 was based of survival show called Produce X 101/ produce 101 S4 and they we're voted by producer of Korea (I think) out of 101 trainee only 10 we're only chosen while the 11th place must be chosen with a X rank (I have not watched the full produce x 101 yet) here is the ranking they got :

Every members are talented and act can do many things like the two olders hyung is act rapper and show off their singing skills here and its killing 👍🏻... Btw Yohan the centre is act a vocal and just start to learn to rap in the produce x show... Their concept is all about X which they said is infinite possibilities of talents and X also they cut in to half and put 1 at the middle can be seen as butterfly so there are lots of butterfly concept in here too... Their fans is called One-It... Their debut album got sold 477k and hv another 2 more days before a week end and this already become the 3rd most sold album in a week in 2019... The album consists of 6 songs which are Stand Up (intro) , Flash (title song) , Im Here For You , Like Always (fans song) , U Got It (sexy song from produce x show stage) , Move (catchy cool songs from produce x show stage).
