So I moved from NY Ranger territory to Philly just over 20 years ago. You picked good cheesesteak spots this time. Next time try Barry's (not far from Dalessandros). It's phenomenal!!
As someone who lives on the other side of the state and hasn't visited Philly, this is a very helpful guide. Shoutout to whoever made the wise decision to eat outside the car after getting Dalessandro's!
Born and raised in Philly here, some of the best hoagies and cheese steaks are in the suburbs, my fav is Phi and Jim's in Chester PA, and although I like cheese steaks, I love a good Italian hoagie. The roll is super important, but so is the quality of the ingredients and the way they construct the sandwich. A classic cheese steak uses American cheese guys.
Live at least 25 minutes from there but decided to stop and pick up two pizza steaks for me & the Mrs. They must put at least 3/4 pound of quality steak on the sandwich. Wife could only finish halve and fat boy me could not finish mind. Reasonable priced and did not have to pay the Philly sugar tax on the sodas. Great they have self serve hot peppers & pickles and load if napkins.
There are huge parking lots right next to the art museum and Rocky statue with free parking. Come back when it’s warmer out and enjoy the Schuylkill river trail that’s right there. Gorgeous slightly along the river on Kelly Drive
That was a tough moment for Krystal when she dismissed Dinic's so quickly. They have an option to add provolone. But if she's just looking for the basic "wiz wit" then yes, Dinic wouldn't be the choice. Part of being basic (at least, about food) is knowing that you're basic.
Claymont Delaware for steaks. All my Philly friends know it. 15 min south of the city off 95. Just beyond PA sales tax. Youse 😊 even want to try a Buffalo chicken cheese steak. OMG so good !
Happy New Years lovely KP and Joey..Great video visiting to my great area of Philadelphia, Pa..Keep on with your great videos, happy travels and take care.
You have to go back! Angelo's has the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. Pizza too. We live in Pittsburgh and have driven there twice(almost)just for that.
This was a such a fun video to watch! Enjoyed your tour of Philly’s Independence Mall area, Reading Terminal, and of course Philly cheesesteaks!! Have you and Joey been to the White House Subs in Atlantic City? Their Italian subs and cheesesteaks are great too, but I absolutely love their Italian, you should try it out!!
Great video, you're such a beautiful awesome young lady, Joey's one lucky guy, love philly cheesesteak sandwiches ❤ welcome to pa where I live ,and happy new year to you and Joey ❤❤❤
Great video! My takes on the steaks you tried in this vid - Jim's is by no means bad but like your experience is mostly just your standard run of the mill steak. You eat it and you're happy, but it's not making or breaking your day. Uncle Gus' aka Angelos Jr's is very very good if you can stomach the line and headache to get it. Danny's signature bread is the best you can get and unless you have a real aversion to crusty seeded bread is one of the best in Philly. Dallasandro's USED to be the cream of the crop but post covid hasn't quite kept up. That said they are also a at least in the upper bracket of cheesesteaks. You gotta try: Angelo's, John's Roast Pork, Cafe Carmela and Del Rossi's to name a few of the very best. And yea, Dinic's is a must at least once, shredded pork, not the classic sliced.
That awesome Krystal glad you came to Philly if you can come back in December you must go to Macy's 13 St and market to see the Macy's light show it a must do. . I love dinicks roast pork sorry you didn't get a chance to try it. But it very good.
I am a native Philadelphian and while you did choose some good cheese steak outlets they all are still mostly tourist stops and that is why they are so busy besides being good. However you also could have found a very good cheese steaks at at almost any local pizza shop or deli that serves hot sandwiches and at lower cost. You did do the right thing by ordering a basic cheese steaks consisting of steak, cheese and onions if you wish. Most local shops will offer many other options such as peppers, pickles, mushrooms or other items. Besides the cheese type as well. Most shops will offer provolone, American or Swiss as an option. Most local Philadelphians do not ask for cheese wize because we do not consider that a real cheese. Other than that the type of roll used also makes a difference. So thanks for trying other outlets besides Pat’s or Gino’s which are famous just because they are open all night. But if you make it back again try a local pizza or deli sandwich shop.
Next time you guys are in town go to Avenue Steaks on Oregon Ave get the chicken cheese steak with cooper sharp and fried onions and don't forget to thank me afterwards 😋
Uncle gus owners of Pearl's Oyster Bar, Tommy DiNic's and Angelo's Pizzeria South Philly. You def should’ve scooped a Tommy dinics roast pork w sharp prov n broccoli rane considered best sandwich in America lol .
Born and raised in South Philly and New Yorker American cheese is the best on a cheesesteak without a doubt! And with fried onions ketchup and pickles it hits all the notes..it's the only way! 😉🍀
You guys picked great spots. Dalessandro’s and John’s Roast Pork’s Cheesesteak are my top 2. Uncle Gus’ is brand new, but is very highly regarded. Dinic’s Roast Pork which you guys skipped was ranked one of the top sandwiches in the country. I’m glad you didn’t go to tourist trap Pats or Geno’s. They both are terrible by comparison.
When i was a kid there was tonys pizza and perris pizza in port richmond. Both had amazing cheesesteaks. I mostly went to tonys because we're related through marriage.
They're good I do like the Alessandro's but definitely not the best, they chopped the meat up too much, you obviously haven't been around the city too much!
You mussbe be from New Yauk. Whiz is as touristy as Pat’s and Geno’s. American or Cooper Sharp are Philly with provolone as a backup. You passed on DiNic’s roast pork? My gif, bug you want to go to John’s. DiNic’s is at least as good if not better, but you passed….
I can't believe no one ever mentions Cosmi's. Better prices, quality is good, and your not looked down upon for not wanting to order like a hood rat. You also get to put whatever you want on your sub, not want they want you to. The Philly cheese steak racket is played out and stupid. Best steak I ever had was at an airport bar in Charlotte.
I dont have a problem with outsiders going to Pats's and Genos. I do have a problem if they go to Pat's and Geno's, nowhere else, and then proceed to say they've had cheesesteaks. Almost every single video I've seen where the person goes to thise 2 spots AFTER going to other places, Pats and Genos gets horribly rated. They only get rated well when the person, who has never had a cheesesteak in their life, has those 2 first. Add in when that's the only 2 places they go, and you can see why people got a little something to say about their video.
There is no such thing as the "best cheesesteak" in Philadelphia. It comes down to personal preference and taste. It is hard to find a bad cheesesteak in the Philadelphia area.

I drove there just try a cheese steak to say I did it . I was visiting Washington DC and decided to drive a little further for a few days just to say I tried one in Philly lol. 12 hours from TN . That’s ok maybe next time if I’m out that way I’ll try some others . Maybe the grill wasn’t seasoned enough yet from other cooks that day. I got there just before they opened . No line at all .
OH boy! You two ate at the biggest Rat dens in the city. Search on here Inside Edition and Jim's or Reading. Angelo's isn't that good. Nowhere near as good as New York Pizza. It's like how a girl looks. A New York 4 is a Philadelphia 8.2. It's typical South Jersey Pizza, (that's their original location) Pizza guy only gave it good reviews because he needed to grow his sports book and bar in Philadelphia. If you go back, he gives a lot of high scores to Philly places. They're all like dollar pizza places in Manhattan. Also I call in to question Joey Palace's reviews. Everyone he tries he likes better than the previous version. Good video. Tony Luke's had to change their name (not really ownership wink wink) because of some kinda racist rant the owner went on. So it's called Tony and Nick's Steaks. But they might close because the owners are going to jail for tax evasion. Unless they can get the judge to stagger their sentences. DiNic's makes good Roast Pork but Better Roast Beef. But then again you might change your mind once you watch the Rat video. Go Birds! And Quick is playing like he's 22 !
John's Roast Pork on Snyder has always been my favorite
Gotta say ...as a lifelong Philly guy you can never go wrong with Jim's Steaks.....consistent high quality and satisfaction.
I haven’t been since the fire renovation, but I’ve heard it’s not quite the old Jim’s.
I'm always happy worth Jim's.
Jim's? really? C'mon man
@ Yea, Jim’s, and Dallessandro’s, actual great steaks. The OG and the second OG, 1 and 1A.
@@ianmcbride3100 Jim's has always used high quality grass fed sirloin beef ...others use mostly rib eye.
1. Angelos 2. John roast pork 3.cafe Carmela 4.Del Rossi 5.Woodrows 6. Dalessandros 7. Uncle Gus 8. Jim’s etc
Decent list. Have you ever tried Lillos in Haines port NJ, or Curlys up in Levittown? They’re on par with Angelo’s imo
💯
Delsandros. Yeah
Dalessandros, Jim's, Steve's Prince of Steaks, Angelo's, all good choices. Stay far from Pat's and Geno's...tourist traps!
So I moved from NY Ranger territory to Philly just over 20 years ago. You picked good cheesesteak spots this time. Next time try Barry's (not far from Dalessandros). It's phenomenal!!

You saw the second bank, the first bank is actually also in Philly, it's on 3rd and Chestnut
Philly always has the best cheesesteaks in the nation! This video is making me hungry! Happy New Year KP!
it's called a PHILLY cheesesteak. aint nobody doing it better.
