I have watched many videos and none were able to solve my issue. I use an Epson 15000 and constantly ran into random black smudging and spotting. The thick paper option in the extended settings is what actually did the trick for me. I was even able to up my density to +20 without any issues with no stopping of the print or fan blowing. Only drawback is prints definitely take quite a bit longer do to the slower passes, but well worth the trade off for me! Thank you for explaining in great detail exactly what was causing the issue and providing such great solutions!
@Mikayla Loaiza You can adjust to the thick paper setting from printing preference, maintenance tab, Extended settings, Thick paper and Envelopes. You can also increase your print density here to your liking. I hope it helps you as much as it has heloed me.
I am 7 minutes in , but finally someone who actually understands the settings , what they mean, and can demonstrate. Others just regurgitate information they see or repeat a guide to their audience. You truly know your stuff and I’m confident this will fix my wet print and wheel issues.
You’re a printer genius. You have helped me twice already saving me hundreds of dollars and customer complaints for my sublimation business! Thanks again!!! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you sooooooooooo much kind, educated, and gifted man! Been cleaning all parts, changing sublimation papers, and all. Still pizza wheel marks until changing paper type to presentation matte and gradually increasing print density from default 0 to 20....very vibrant even when set to standard quality; but high quality even better. His reasoning and explanation was sooo true! Great work! YOU ROCK! May God continue to bless you and all that you assist and serve!
Sir, you are such a blessing to us all. For us, the Method 1 works! My husband and I have wasted a LOT of shirts for days and this video of yours helped us solve our problem so beautifully. Thank you so much.
Wasted shirts for days ? At what point would it hit you to print on something for practice (like shirts you’ve already messed up) to see if the problem persists
Part 1 was very informative and helpful. I cannot find part 2 anywhere on how to remove the rollers to avoid the streaking for sublimation printing. Am trying to remove the rollers for my Epson ET-8550
Thank you! We use an ET-3803 for sublimation and have no trouble with transfer paper, but when we got into DTF we started seeing ink dragging through our images. The settings you recommended look like they've done the trick! I'm interested in the conversion from pizza wheels to a vacuum plate, though. We have a large-format HP that uses vacuum instead of wheels on the output and I imagine that's what the high-end, dedicated sublimation printers use instead of pizza wheels.
Thank you for this video, I was getting defeated by my printer last night and was in tears…. I am doing a large order and it started streaking 1/2 way through my batch. If I didn’t come across this I would have ended up buying another printer. Thank you.
great explanation and examples - many people have this issue. I tried removing them completely and it did fix it but the paper sometimes lifts and jams. I got a new printer and I am trying the settings you suggested;
I keep getting pizza wheel dots on my tumblers. This started after I had 1 piece of sub paper get sucked back into the printer as if I was printing duplex. I have never intentionally used duple printing. Since that day I have been getting dots in random spots. Part of the problem is that the dots are tiny. They are not visible on the paper until I heat press the page onto the tumbler. I guess the heat makes the tiny dots expand and they appear in many places on the page and therefore on everything I have been sublimating. If there is white in the design the dots are extremely obvious. I have bought 2 different cleaning products and also have taped ribbon to a card and have cleaned the wheels manually by sliding ribbon with Windex through the wheels back and forth. It did clean some wheels and leave spots showing it removed some bits of ink. But the next time I print then cook my tumbler I am getting new spots and some of the old. I have more spots now than before I tried any of this cleaning. I have the Epson ET3830 and cannot find a Bi-directional printing setting anywhere. I also cannot see a page with the ink coverage like you showed.
I come up with a new idea, which is to spray some glue (Elmer) on a film, and temporarily stick it to the transfer paper. Then print the transfer paper with thick paper setting. It works our wonderfully.
@@BCHTechnologies hello how were the results? may I know? Since I am currently debating on whether I should just take off the pizza wheels instead XD. The vacuum system is interesting, but I believe the space is not enough and there might be a few issues with the outflow of the paper. Thanks for the interesting ideas! Btw do you know the reason why there are large ink droplets from the print on my sublimation paper?
Hello Kevin. Very informative video. I´m trying to find the correct settings to avoid pizza wheel marks but i´m having problems. I´m using sticky paper but the problem is if i use epson matt even with the lowest settings i´m getting pizza wheel marks. If i use normal paper settings no pizza weel, but i need a little bit more density. Any suggestions? thanks a lot in advance
I have an epson 2720, can i decrease print density cuz its leaving pizza wheels. I cleaned rollers and did head cleaning. I decreased print density and it helped but my red is printing yellow now
I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 that is having problems with feeding A3 paper sizes. It will feed all the way through without setting the paper up for printing and at times feeding the paper correctly for printing. there is no proplem printing on US letter size paper. How do I trouble shoot this problem?
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing this information, I'd been going crazy until now! I slowed my Epson ET 2800 down 25% and the prints are so much cleaner! Amazing, again ty.
main problem wheels mark bc of ink dnt dry quick that s bc of bad paper mostly then ink quality .. i reduced them not solved problem but when used correct paper they gone..
Okay, so I keep coming back to the pizza wheel dilemma every time I print on glossy stock. Do these even really serve an actual purpose, other than to annoy? I decided to tinker with my Epson, opened it up, and removed all the pizza wheels with tweezers. Printer still functions fine, prints perfectly now. No track marks. I guess they're to keep the paper from pressing up against the exit slot, if ink is still wet it would smear? Remove pizza wheels and just turn off bi-directional if your ink needs more time to dry??? Personally, I've done about 20 prints tonight since removing, all 20 perfect. I don't get it. Aggravating pointless function. And it's not just Epson. I literally bought a Canon printer yesterday because I was so frustrated with track marks on every print. Canon uses the same type of pizza wheel system. Guess I can return the Canon printer now :D
I can't help but think you could get away with removing all the wheels and just keep two. One on the furthest part of the paper, potentially avoiding the wheels ever touching ink if never doing borderless printing. Would only be good if you only intended on using the one paper size also, but I suspect just about anyone doing sublimation on an a4 printer isn't printing on any other size. I'll probably look into doing this and see what happens.
I did this. Took a red hot knife and cut off the plastic with the wheels, leaving only the farthest left and farthest right wheels to enable the paper to roll out after printing. My printer is just the cheap Epson L120 so I felt free to disfigure my printer this way haha
