ashwathama was the one and only son of dronacharya(the guru of pandav and kauravs), he was cursed at the end of the mahabharat war by Bhagwan Krishna because he misused his Bhramashtra which was the biggest weapon, to kill the only grandson left of pandav specifically Arjun who was still in the womb of her mother which in turn made Krishna so angry that he cursed Ashwathama to be immortal till the end of kalyuga and bleed from forehead forever and beg for death forever and at the end when kalki avatar of bhagwan vishnu will come, he has to help him to kill kali(the villain of kalyug).

I think Prabhas is KalKI avatar and Amitabh Bachchan is Ashwatthama ( who is one of the seven Chiranjeevi or seven immortal beings who are said to exist until the end of the current cosmic cycle. He got cursed by Shri Krishna that he will be on this Earth as long as it exists because he tried killing son of Abhimanyu when he was in his mother's womb (Even Trinity dont have right to kill someone who is unborn) soo yess Ashwatthama is still on the Earth and he will join forces with Kalki avatar to end Kaliyug after approx 432000 years out of which 5000 years are already passed soo now 427000 years remaining

There is 7 immortal in this world according to Hindu puranas. Ashwathama is one of them he is the son of Guru Dronacharya who was the guru of all pandawas and kaurav like Arjun, Bhim, yudhishthir, duryodhana etc in Mahabharata in dwapar yug around 5500 years ago
While other 6 immortas are blessed and some are avtar of God's like Hanuman ji and Parashuram and some great saints but ashwathama is punished by lord Krishn.
