Eve is definitely one of the best female rappers who ever touched the mic. She doesn't get acknowledged as much as she should. She put in a lot of work and was rolling with the big dogs (Ruff Ryders) back then. That Era of music was crazy!!

@@Grayson3869 yes she was compared to her peers at the time on Roc-a-Fella and Murder Inc. She definitely was the most favorable candidate of all the girls. And she was definitely overrated. She almost Lil Kim’ed Ruff Ryders when Ruff Ryders began to solely push her over the Lox Drag and the other artist. Just like Kim overshadowed Lil Cease and the rest Junior Mafia. Luckily the rest of the Ruff Ryders they so lucky 🍀 they survived the EVE push from the label. Unfortunately with Kim Junior Mafia didn’t. Eve didn’t deserve to attempt to overshadow her peers on the label with all that attention like nobody else existed on the label like how Junior mafia was treated. Eve for that reason was overrated. There was a point where they tried to force feed more Eve on us after her success. I was there I remember her career starting for the beginning at a young age. I remember the landscape of female hip hop back then. Who was hot and not and how hot they was who was hotter than who at what time. So I know.

It was the industry making us out to believe their can only be one female popping for that time period. And like Nicki Minaj later on, the industry gave us the impression and forged the perception and made us believe there only could be one female putting on for the game, and Eve was just the one chosen at the time. She was the chosen one which is why she was overrated.

I remember Eve saying how other female rappers didn’t welcome her that well as well. I think jealousy. She was the only one truly spitting at that time besides Foxy Brown/Rah Digga.
I’m shocked so many girls don’t mention Eve influences especially these new rap girls today they just skip over her to say Lil’Kim when most probably don’t even know Kim catalogue that well maybe her 2000s songs. I’m like how can y’all skip over Eve and only say Kim & Foxy !?? Nah Eve is more of lyricist and didn’t have men helping her write her stuff and she freestyles off the top of the dome that not a lot of female rappers could do. Only a select few can do that and are lyricists throughout history.
I saw Glorilla who’s a gen-Z rapper the only one mention Eve as an influence on her as a female rapper. She was a real one for that because Eve was apart of my childhood as a 90s baby and my mother played her/Missy growing up more than Trina/Lil’Kim at that time.
