It’s crazy to think that just a singles match at wrestlemania was held in the same regard as a world title match when nothing was tangibly at stake. There were years where the streak match mattered more than the world title.

Stats like a real sport? I should look up the stats on how many time Raymond Reddington killed someone. You know because the Blacklist and Rasslin are both TV shows.
Those matches vs HHH could've been at any point for those moments to happen, when HHH was just beating the shit out of him, plus the Superkick + Pedigree combo.
@@exhalt7462 the referee thought he messed up for a second because nobody but Brock, Taker, and Vince knew the outcome. The ref legitimately feared for his job for a minute, and everyone backstage was confused too, that’s why it took so long for Brock’s music to play after the win lmao
Undertaker streak was awesome and really hooked us. It could be more star studded with Bret Hart, Steve Austin and Rock been added in this list. Probably this streak should never ended and undertaker should have retired.
Hulk Hogan, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Goldberg, and Bobby Lashley should be on the list too in my version of the streak. and my version is where he's still undefeated at wrestlemania.

Hate it or love it. This moment was major. Left a shock across all fans. Entertainment at its all time high. I screamed at the tv. I cursed at the tv with my little son watching. I was mad. But eventually understood the value of what had been done. One of the greatest moments ever, still talked about today.
I had been out of wrestling for a few years at that point and didn't get fully back into it until 2022. But I remember seeing the headlines and being blown away; a news headline, and I had the same look on my face those fans did. I'm still salty about it, especially after hearing that Taker would have liked to have seen Roman or Bray get that feather. But it does say how momentous it was that, at the time of this writing, I'm still too much of a coward to go and watch that match; as if not watching it makes it not fully real. That's wrestling's power in storytelling.
I swear I heard the commentary team say that Taker was undefeated at Mania during his match with Kane at Mania 14; and wasn't mentioned for the first time at Mania 17 like you said.
Nothing will ever match that feeling of watching the undertaker stalk to the ring during your first wrestlemania. I’m so grateful I grew up during the phenom era.
Of all the ones who could've ended it, I personally would've preferred Randy during his Legend Killer gimmick. While he was far from the wise and mature man he is today and he refused to go over out of sheer respect, the knowledge of defeating Taker, walking onto RAW the next night to nuclear heat would've been unparalleled. While Brock definitely was the right guy to end it; the nuclear heat he obtained spoke volumes; by that point, it was more "who else could've been given the nod?" Personally, 21-1 should've been it, Taker calling it quits for Wrestlemania matches, though we wouldn't have gotten the Boneyard Match with AJ Styles. It's a double edge sword.
End of an Era is my favorite. When Shawn Micheals hits Taker with the Sweet Chin Music, then HHH with the Pedigree, and Taker still kicks out, I lose it every time.
I always felt like Kane shouldve ended the streak. It would’ve been a nice way to tie (possibly) the greatest storyline in WWE history off. I imagine it would’ve been the end of both of their careers. Kane finally getting one over on his big brother in a lasting way and Undertaker losing gives the shock value. Also, they could’ve done the thing taker did after facing Roman; but this time instead of just Taker taking off his gear, Kane could’ve taken off his mask as well (since he was “Demon Kane” at the time). I really don’t think anyone “needed” to beat the streak new talent or old. It just reached a sacred place. But Kane beating it would’ve make sense.
Agreed. Imagine if Kane ended the streak in a buried alive or casket match. With Kane setting himself on fire in the middle of the ring and disappearing making it look like he ‘cremated’ himself or being took to hell. Would be an awesome ending in my eyes
Another perfect candidate that coulda broke the streak coulda been Bray Wyat with his first gimmick. Ive always imagined Bray being a descendant of Taker thru "Sister Abigail" and he coming for revenge. I feel this storyline could've birthed a new streak for the next generations.
The whole WrestleMania brand was built around the streak of taker.. he was just the crowd puller.. legend.. and he made Superstars to those who lost .. legend no doubt
For so long, the Undertaker was a starring attraction at WrestleMania due to his lengthy winning streak. Only in recent years has he been beaten by the likes of Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns,
Don't forget the memories his WrestleMania-wins and his first loss created all over the years. The first WrestleMania-Win of the Phenom, I kinda witnessed, was that awesome match at WrestleMania XXIV against Edge for the World-Heavyweight-Championship. My heart pumping very high during this entire match I watched in a TH-cam-Video in a internet-café, a long time, before I got my own internet-connection and how I went crazy, when Edge finally tapped out during the "Hell's Gate" (Which was unnamed at this point in WWE). I started to watch wrestling on regular bases, just in time when Undertaker started to play his mind-games on Mark Henry before he returned at "Unforgiven 2006" and became an Undertaker-Fan immediately. In my youth and childhood I watched wrestling casual and when I had the oppotunity to do this, because in Germany every wrestling-show (even to this day) are broadcasted after 10 pm and with an FSK 16 rating (which is a TV-14 rating in USA). I will always remember this moment, when Undertaker finaly raised the championship-belt into the night sky of Orlando Florida inside the Citrus Bowl Stadium for the rest of my life.
Great video! Yes the streak debate is still going on on whether it was the right decision. Imo, it should have been broken, but not at the hands of Brock at 'Mania 30. With the benefit of hindsight, a Roman Reigns win 3 years later could have given us something like the present Tribal Chief heel persona in 2017 itself. Recall for once the crowd reception for Roman the Raw after Wrestlemania 33 when he gave Taker his second defeat. Now imagine what it would be if the Streak itself was ended by the then eyesore of the fans. We rarely get the kind of nuclear heat for wrestlers the way it was in the kayfabe days of 70s and 80s. It could potentially have been an all-time run for Roman instead of the uninspired stretch he had before turning heel. As for Taker himself, the wide-eyed shock moment of fans would still have happened, and perhaps even have been amplified. He could even have retired there with an athletic in-ring performance rather than being concussed for half of the match.
The fantasy matches I would've booked are Andre the Giant (1-0), literally anything other than Giant Gonzalez (3-0), Ted DiBiase (4-0), Vader (6-0), Terry Funk (8-0), Goldberg (10/11-0), Big Show (14-0), Lesnar (21-0), Punk (22-0), Strowman (23-0), Cena/Sting (24-0) and Reigns (24-1)
Little known fact is that someone on commentary actually brings up his undefeated streak all the back at his match with King Kong Bundy. They mention he is 3-0 at WrestleMania as on off-hand comment.
I been a huge fan of Taker, long before he became Taker. I saw him for the first time on WCW tv, in 1988. I was 13 and I was hooked! He was "Mean Mark" Callous then. My mom heard me scream YES, she comes running and when I told her I found my favorite wrestler, she looks at me, rolls her eyes and walk away. I didn't see him again until November 19, 1990. I remember hearing The Fink say Kane, The Undertaker. I fell out laughing at that but I saw it was the SAME GUY!! We all know what happens next. Him and his character were/are my end all, be all! It didn't matter who he was wrestling, I always rooted for Taker. I've kicked people out my house for talking trash about Taker. I've lost boyfriends because I love him more than just about every man God created, except my Daddy and Grandfather lol! I even have his name tattooed on the back of my neck! I screamed, cried, tore up my house when The Streak died. Like for real. I didn't care about the end of that 'Mania. I'm still mad! Nothing else mattered to me. When he finally said goodbye at Survivor Series, I cried for days. To say I love Taker is the understatement of this or any millennium! I LLLLOOOOOVVVVVEEEEEE TAKER! Thank you for this retrospect. No I haven't watched The Last Ride. I refuse. I'm not ready to let him go!
I started out afraid yet intrigued and in awe of The Undertaker. I didn't watch wrestling unless I thought The Undertaker was going to be wrestling. The Undertaker is and will always be the most beloved and respected person in WWE history. He is the epitome of what any wrestler needs to be. An amazing wrestler with charisma and a character that can be believed to be as what they present themselves. There will be many imitators but never any duplicators.
Wow you did such a great job explaining things in this video! Very well done. I always go back and forth about the streak being broken. When it happened, I hated it. Thought he deserved to retire with the streak. But Now not as much, it makes sense for the giving back to the business which I know Taker is big about. I just wish it wasn’t Lesnar & instead was a younger guy to put over. But I haven’t been current on WWE for over 10 years now so maybe he was the right choice. Also I have to say you did gloss over the Edge match but I remember that was the one time I really was scared the streak was going to end.
WWE pretty much started dying for me after his streak was broken. Now it's unwatchable and it makes me depressed because I was as big a WWE fan as there was back in the day. People used to say the New Generation era was the low point but these last 5+ years are easily the worst.
The more years go by the more I’m conviced Brock Lensar was the right choice to end the streak . People often says that Brock Lesnar didn’t need to end the streak as he was already the final Boss of WWE a former multiple times world champion and UFC heavyweight champion and while the last part is right but the first aprt well ; Brock LESNAR run after a returning under one of the biggest ovation of the PG era was losing inexplicably to John Cena in his first match having an underwhelming feud agaisnt HHH in which despite technically winning the rivalry he somehow lose the most important match of the series at WM 29 an exceptional match vs Cm Punk but where he wasn’t the focus of the rivalry being instead Punk vs Heyman a program vs The BIG Show which nobody cared at the time or remember today but in which while Lesnar win the match had a buildup where Show would dominate Lesnar several wekks in a row One of the reasons people were as shocked by the result is that Lesnar so far since his return wasn’t booked like the most dangerous man on earth but more like a legend who would stop by and win sometimes lose other …. They were 50/50 booking Brock Lesnar . Giving this win and having squash John Cena made him what he is today
none of that has anything to do with lesnar "needing" to end the streak though. thats all just bad booking from wwe creative. if they knew what they were doing they wouldnt have jobbed lesnar to guys like cena and h. its like evryone forgets that the reason why ppl didnt like lesnars seemingly invincibility was because he didnt become this way until mid 2014, a whole 2 years after returning to the company. wasnt until they realized roman becoming cena 2.0 needed a david vs goliath moment and it was so artificially manufactured that is wasted like 3/4 years of reigns career. D.Brys win at WM30 is the best ending WM has had in over a decade because it wasnt planned the same way eveything else had been
Taker v Lesnar should've happened at WM29 (Punk getting his main event) in an MMA-style battle which suited since Taker's interest in it as well as the brief encounter he had with Brock in the UFC crowd a couple years earlier. Brock would've gotten his monster push anyway with the Summerslam match with Cena in 2014.
From day one I thought it was the right call, if only because it's a reason to actually remember that stinker of a match - if Taker had won that night, I actually feel like there would've been a lot of people saying "he _should have_ lost that night 'cause he clearly didn't have it in him anymore"
I like the part where you mention Cena. I think because of Brock, there's now an antidote to the "Cena Effect," the likes of Hogan, Roman, and Cena himself suffered. They need to be destroyed by a Brock, as that destroys the "Cena Effect" on whoever has it when people see them being squashed. Now I see Cena, I no longer hate him. :p
All Lesnar needed was to demolish Cena. Squashing peak Cena makes you seem invincible, you don’t need the Undertaker win. Have Reigns do it, and turn him heel after he beats Undertaker. Fans will boo him after beating Taker: “This Is My Yard Now” promo showed that. And with that, you can introduce his head of the table gimmick, as it’s very similar to taking the “this is my yard now” idea too far. That’s how the streak should’ve been broken
I was there in Hartford for his first appearance at the survivor series. It was a huge mystery about who he was. And when the lights went down and the bell tolled, little kid me was mesmerized and terrified.
I'm just glad i got to be a kid that experienced what it felt like to see him enter that survivor series the first time..he legit scared me and all my buddies.
With undertaker being my all time favorite, I have been a fan since he first showed up in WWF, I was 6 years old, now 37! So for 31 years the undertaker has been a constant in my life. Now, I do believe the streak should have come to an end, but not till he was absolutely done! Brock was not the guy! Roman maybe, but seeing as, if you look at the roster now, who would it help, and will they be fired? Aj styles.....good choice, the fiend.....yes, but gone for now! Drew McIntyre should have done it!!! I don't see drew going anywhere, so someone who it would help a lot, and who can carry that legacy, that's who I'd choose!
@@garyhen1707 35 instead. Scottish psychopath character kinda looked like undertaker esk that could’ve took over wwe then would’ve beaten seth at summerslam but kinda glad that didn’t happen cuz 2020 rumble was legendary the way he rose to the top using brock as stepping stone and eventually won the whole thing
Undertaker is my favorite wrestler and the iconicness of the streak and some of the amazing matches that made it up will stand as an incredible achievement in wrestling history. Call me biased, but I will honestly say the streak should have never been broken and no one was truly worthy of the honors. However, I will say Brock may have not needed it but he seemed like the only one capable, his booking prior was kind of weak but he had the legitimate toughness to be seen able to do it. And although the streak is known for some really good and really bad matches, it also had a lot of luck behind it. Originally, Giant Gonzalez was going to win but Hulk Hogan spoke up and said that would be bad. Randy Orton was set to break it but Orton had cold feet about it and they realized he wasn't ready for something like that. Taker himself asked Kurt Angle and Angle said no way as he respected Taker too much to do so. Then Edge was offered it but he felt he didn't need the win nor did he want the pressure that would come with it. Even Triple H wasn't up for it when the idea came up. Taker and Vince both went to Brock, Taker himself said he wanted someone to do it one day, and Brock said he would take the responsibility. So even if we as fans can't be 100% happy about it, at least Taker can be pretty happy about it.
bruh it was due to taker only that many rejected it out of respect..if anyone rejects an offer which could have been the best moment of their career then u must know that the opponent is given massive respect by everyone..
I remember that much between Brock Lesnar vs undertaker I was 9 at that time me and my brothers always knew he was gonna win but when we heard those 3 words 1 2 3 we was shock the streak was over it was just silence in the room we couldn’t believe it the streak was over it was just shocking that Brock did it it will always be my wrestlmaina shock moment to this day
End of an Era is not just the greatest moment in the careers of the Greatest 3 in wrestling, it IS the greatest moment in all of wrestling! Everything from its build up to its most emotional ending… No moment in wrestling will ever match End of an Era.
In hindsight, a case can be made that Randy Orton should've ended the streak, even if it would've meant that Taker vs Shawn Michaels would not have happened. I will never understand why Lesner got the nod but that's WWE. 🤷🏾♂️
In my opinion, Orton, Batista, and Edge would have benefitted the most and been the most deserving of ending the Streak. Lesnar would have been a great choice if he had stayed a wrestler, didn't leave after his match with Goldberg, and had the match with Taker at Mania much earlier. Cena would have been great choice to finally turn heel probably around 2010 or so, but Cena was already a star and wouldn't have benefitted other than the heel turn. Punk would have maybe been a good choice, but I'm not sure though. Wyatt would have been a good passing of torch choice.
I always believed that Lesnar kind of “needed it” in order to become WWE’s Thanos but that is mostly due in part to him losing to Triple H and John Cena upon return. If he stomped through Cena, HHH, and Punk in that order, the Streak probably wouldn’t have had to be in conversation since he would have been established once again
@@charliehovey4534 In the case of HHH first time against Taker and Kane's matches against him, that's not an awful idea. That could have done a lot for them back then. Although, when they faced Undertaker, the Streak wasn't really something that was referenced and might not have been as big if someone had beat him back then. It did turn Lesnar into this final boss of WWE and he arguably needed the big win after baffling losing to both Cena and HHH. I'm not sure what the purpose of HBK or HHH winning would have been when they were challenging him from Mania 25 - 28. It would have been far better for a younger person to beat him so they would have all of the momentum of ending the Streak.
The fact is, Mark Calloway ‘Undertaker’ knew, if he didn’t finally ‘lose’, he would spend his entire retirement being challenged by every ‘wannabe’. I believe Brock Lesnar was the ONLY believable ‘conqueror’.
That’s not a fact lol. Undertaker has spoken on it. That’s not what he said. The Brock thing is true but it was that along with them thinking he was coming back full time.
@@aureuskeith2312 he put it in quotations. It’s clear he knows it isn’t real. Tried to make someone look dumb and just made yourself look dumb. Congratulations.
I wouldn't have minded Michaels or HHH ending it, I've never really liked Punks personality, but he would've been a good choice, but my personal favorite choice would've been Orton. That would've been the absolute peak of his "legend killer" gimmick. It doesn't get any more legend killer than that.
Loving this one thanks for sharing very information blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Mad we never got to see Sting Vs. Taker. But maybe that one is left for everyone to wonder what could have been. I'm not sure if it would have been a good match late in both of their careers.
Kevin nash making taker look good in that match is even more impressive considering taker's mind was gone that night due to him being served papers for divorce.
As much as I never wanted to see the streak end, I have to admit that BROCK was a suitable guy to conquer Taker’s undefeated steak. To be honest, Brock is once in a life time athlete and I couldn’t think of any other wrestler to carry such sheer dominance after that victory. I agree, there are better wrestlers that could’ve ended the streak when it comes to this argument. Nonetheless, this was arguably a big decision.
I agree with that. Considering the way WWE books their talents, almost no other could carry this accomplishment. Since a lot of superstars bounce in and out of the main event, we could have seen the surreal scene of the streak-breaker losing in three minutes at RAW to the last NXT call-up. And probably with a roll-up.
And another thing to back it up Is that Lesnar wasn't a big threat before he beat Taker bc he lost to Cena he lost to Triple H then but beat him twice . It was a rocky start for him and ending the streak would make Lesnar legit again
Yeah also Brock was the only guy in undertaker's career he just could not beat so it makes kayfabe sense as well..wish they should have told a better story at mania 30
I agree but I’m thinking of it now the other person I see ending takers streak apart from hbk was orton. I mean could you imagine the heat boost orton would of got if he ended the steak back in their wm21 match 😳
I think Brock was a fair choice. Michael's/Undertaker was phenomenal, and I wouldn't change either match. HHH? No Thanks! Randy was a legend killer, but I wouldn't want to see him beat Undertaker. Batista was believable enough, but I think more star power was needed. Brock had it all. Believable, star power, and basically the last man left standing that can sell it.
Taker was so special that dudes wanted to face him for the streak than a championship. Should’ve never been broken but Vince is notorious for ruining wrestling.
For me when the Streak ended that was pretty much the end of "classic" WWE. That moment when I realized that from that moment on, they (the WWE) were no longer focusing on "me" as their target audience. It's taken me what, 8 years to realize that's ok. As long as "the kids" are watching and enjoying what's being put out these days, they're doing something right! I still have my "old man" DVD's that I can watch and remember some great WWE moments/matches!
In the undertakers documentary the last ride the undertaker reveals that he doesn't remember that match against Brock Lesnar and it is also revealed that he collapsed backstage afterwards
I was feeling "meh" at the time when Brock won it, but you can't argue with the logical choice. Lesnar was just a very tall order of a challenge for Undertaker and Undertaker would have to do to Lesnar, what HHH did to him during their encounters, to beat Brock. It just simply made sense to have Lesnar win. If Undertaker had won that, then, are we saying an aging 49 year old at the time can't be topped? That'd be ridiculous. So I think the answer was the right call. There couldn't have been anybody else at that time to try ending the streak. The roster was thin and a lot of people didn't want to go near the streak anyways. Even Brock Lesnar hesitated, but eventually took up the chance.
no it made no sense Brock didnt need the win now i do agree with you brock should have went over hhh at wm 29 but of course hhh needed the " WIN " but brock was already a made guy
Lance Storm once detailed how they could have taken a bit of the sting off his first win - so as not to make fans quite as sad. Undertaker should have declared that he would keep going until someone beat him. That would have conditioned us to accept that it would happen at some point.
Cherish that streak was sustained for so long, otherwise as the Undertaker himself admitted, "if Stone Cold's neck wasn't having the issues or if Rock hadn't moved on to Hollywood, either of the two would have broken the streak much earlier."
2:02 LOOK HOW FLAWLESS THIS MAN LOOKS! HE'S RELAXIN' WHILE FLYIN' THROUGH THE GODDAMN AIR! Fuck Brock Lesnar, Randy "The Legend Killer" Orton should've done it, as far as I'm concerned, Undertaker picked up the win and The Streak continues, 'cause fuck that, Vince can't even respect the legacy of his most loyal and trusted employee.
i wish the undertaker had never lost at wrestlemania, and retired as the only wrestler undefeated at wrestlemania. I wish he could've added names like Hulk Hogan, Bret the hitman Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Mick Foley, Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, Braun Strowman, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, and Roman Reigns to his list of Victims at Wrestlemania.
I can still remember his debut match. Undertaker destroying Snuka so easily, while acting like a Terminator immune to pain or fatigue was inhuman act when you were just a kid. I remember asking how can you beat such monster?
It pissed me off to no end when Lesnar won over Taker and broke the streak, especially when Vince made the decision to do so spontaneously the day of the match. To this day, I really believe Taker could have retired with the streak intact. The was no real reason to break it for anyone. It's just another example in the growing list of reasons why Vince McMahon is out of touch.
To be clear, I don't blame Brock for that at all. By all accounts, he didn't have a problem with losing to the Undertaker. This was purely a McMahon decision, which as I said before was made the day of the match on a whim. Screw Vince.
It was the streak ending that got me back into wrestling. So I'm grateful for that. Seeing my favorite superstar become a multiple wwe champion, seeing retirements, dream matches. The wonder of wrestling was back.
I have to disagree with his first match against Jimmy Snuka as being ho hum. For it's time and how short it was it's a good match. When Jimmy, standing outside the ring on the apron, jumped up, stood on the top rope in the middle of the ring, and jumped off in a high cross body only to have Undertaker catch him in mid air, for its time, was a holy s moment.
It’s crazy to think that just a singles match at wrestlemania was held in the same regard as a world title match when nothing was tangibly at stake. There were years where the streak match mattered more than the world title.
WrestleManias 27 and 29 immediately spring to mind.
From Wm 25-29 streak was bigger than championship match
All for Brock to end it hahahahaha
Definitely at 26 the Streak vs Career match vs Michaels that was bigger then either world title match and fittingly main evented.

But eventually understood the value of what had been done. One of the greatest moments ever, still talked about today.
But dumbest decision of all time Brock didn't need the win
Wow. The facts laid out in the final two minutes of this video are incredible. Thank you guys for your hard work and happy Christmas!
Great work, Jack. Love these.
End of an Era is my favorite. When Shawn Micheals hits Taker with the Sweet Chin Music, then HHH with the Pedigree, and Taker still kicks out, I lose it every time.
Same
I always felt like Kane shouldve ended the streak.
Been saying this, it always should've been kane.
Another perfect candidate that coulda broke the streak coulda been Bray Wyat with his first gimmick. Ive always imagined Bray being a descendant of Taker thru "Sister Abigail" and he coming for revenge. I feel this storyline could've birthed a new streak for the next generations.
@@adamcroft80 nice one. Totally agree to your story
demon kane didn't look believable..he coming as like in 1997-1999 would have made it beleivable..
Fantastic video, thoroughly enjoyed this.
The whole WrestleMania brand was built around the streak of taker.. he was just the crowd puller.. legend.. and he made Superstars to those who lost .. legend no doubt
When taker lost, my feeling was as if I had the wind knocked out of me, I was dead shocked.
For so long, the Undertaker was a starring attraction at WrestleMania due to his lengthy winning streak. Only in recent years has he been beaten by the likes of Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns,
9:37 I think Edge would rather people forget about money plane
I was at work at Food Lion when the streak ended. I completely forgot where I was because of how shocked I was when the notification hit my phone
Man this video was good, I got to listen to it again
5 are on the active roster. Styles, Edge, Orton, Lesnar, and Reigns
What younger guy on the roster would've made sense beating taker
Ah Yes! I was patiently waiting for someone to do a review on this. But like always Goodie Mornin' Culti-Crew and STORYTIME!!!!!!
WWE pretty much started dying for me after his streak was broken. Now it's unwatchable and it makes me depressed because I was as big a WWE fan as there was back in the day. People used to say the New Generation era was the low point but these last 5+ years are easily the worst.
Same hear i stopped watching soon after and will never go back!
New generation was still shit too. Don't get that wrong lol.
@@TheBuddha337 New Generation has talent but WWE is not good enough to push them

The more years go by the more I’m conviced Brock Lensar was the right choice to end the streak . People often says that Brock Lesnar didn’t need to end the streak as he was already the final Boss of WWE a former multiple times world champion and UFC heavyweight champion and while the last part is right but the first aprt well ;
Brock LESNAR run after a returning under one of the biggest ovation of the PG era was losing inexplicably to John Cena in his first match
having an underwhelming feud agaisnt HHH in which despite technically winning the rivalry he somehow lose the most important match of the series at WM 29
an exceptional match vs Cm Punk but where he wasn’t the focus of the rivalry being instead Punk vs Heyman
a program vs The BIG Show which nobody cared at the time or remember today but in which while Lesnar win the match had a buildup where Show would dominate Lesnar several wekks in a row
One of the reasons people were as shocked by the result is that Lesnar so far since his return wasn’t booked like the most dangerous man on earth but more like a legend who would stop by and win sometimes lose other ….
I respecfuly disagree it never should have happened!
Eh. Drew wasn't ready. Brock was the right pick if they were going to end it when they did.
@@TheBuddha337 true though they didn't need to!
@@TheBuddha337 they could've held off until 36, just have drew beat taker in front of no one lol
Arn’s Spinebuster to Taker was freakin epic.
Undertaker said that he would rather have a young coming star to end the streak Brock didn't needed he was already over
bruh it was due to taker only that many rejected it out of respect..if anyone rejects an offer which could have been the best moment of their career then u must know that the opponent is given massive respect by everyone..
Undertaker for hall of Fame 2022
When that hand hit the mat at 30, a part of my childhood died right that second. It felt so eerie. I stopped watching wrestling after that
I'v noticed that dead man taker is beaten at mania but biker taker is 4-0 at mania so some sort of streak still lives on at mania.
The streak was more of a fluke then a plan imo. Then suddenly they realized "Wow he's never lost, we've got an angle here!".
Pretty much
In hindsight, a case can be made that Randy Orton should've ended the streak, even if it would've meant that Taker vs Shawn Michaels would not have happened.
@@TheAlSnowShow I've heard that argument be made a bunch of times and it's a fair point.
no they should have given the only streak break to someone like hhh, hbk, kane, not lesner.
Edge mentioned in his WWE documentary about his return that WWE asked him if he wanted to end the streak; they were willing to do it, and he declined.
one day wwe will run a slow burn story again. like the kane/taker wrestlemania 20 storyline, the video package before the match is fantastic

I wouldn't have minded Michaels or HHH ending it, I've never really liked Punks personality, but he would've been a good choice, but my personal favorite choice would've been Orton. That would've been the absolute peak of his "legend killer" gimmick. It doesn't get any more legend killer than that.
Undertaker was not only the biggest match on the Grandest Stage of them all, but he was always the biggest match ever anytime anywhere
Wrestling will never be the same without Undertaker. What a legend. Love u UNDERTAKER
these are very flattering pictures of Mark Callaway, I am impressed.
The match should've happened in 05 or 06
Kevin nash making taker look good in that match is even more impressive considering taker's mind was gone that night due to him being served papers for divorce.
And another thing to back it up
Is that Lesnar wasn't a big threat before he beat Taker bc he lost to Cena he lost to Triple H then but beat him twice .
@@el_bearded_vato_6613 It was just the bad timing it was 2005 the streak wasn't a mythical thing back then but by 2012 it was a huge deal
But brock didnt need the win to me he broke the streak cause he lost hhh and cena thats bad booking
Brock should forever be booked as the hardest man on the planet, and that’s why he was the right choice to break the streak
When the streak ended my heart dropped
He should've never lost it.
Definitely agree
Taker was so special that dudes wanted to face him for the streak than a championship. Should’ve never been broken but Vince is notorious for ruining wrestling.
Nice vid dude, well done 👍🏻
Right decision to break the streak. People still talk about it. I don't think they would talk about it if he beat Lesnar.
They really should have had the Rollins Money in the Bank Cash In finish ending the Streak
Sting should've followed his gut
It just shouldn’t have ended. It’s that simple.
His WM debut was on his birthday. That’s awesome.
In the undertakers documentary the last ride the undertaker reveals that he doesn't remember that match against Brock Lesnar and it is also revealed that he collapsed backstage afterwards
Chicago Illinois loves this content 😎
I dunno, the year previously, Triple H beat Lesnar resolutely.
That’s assuming the streak had to be defeated at all. Which it didn’t.
The Streak can never and should never be replicated.
Lesnar was the most legitimate choice at that time to beat Taker, regardless of who people think could have used it or deserved it
Excellent video produced
Lance Storm once detailed how they could have taken a bit of the sting off his first win - so as not to make fans quite as sad.
Undertaker should have declared that he would keep going until someone beat him.
That would have conditioned us to accept that it would happen at some point.
Retroactively Lesnar taking the streak was a frigging class booking
Cherish that streak was sustained for so long, otherwise as the Undertaker himself admitted, "if Stone Cold's neck wasn't having the issues or if Rock hadn't moved on to Hollywood, either of the two would have broken the streak much earlier."
I was at wm30…. Left after that match and I’ve watched it like 5 times since then

I wish Kane’s mask was never removed!
March 24th is also Taker’s birthday.
i wish the undertaker had never lost at wrestlemania, and retired as the only wrestler undefeated at wrestlemania.
3:46 I think the most important thing was that sid shat himself on that tombstone
When that day comes when he enters the HOF.. He gonna need his own ceremony.
