As a social anxiety sufferer, I totally get the anxiety! I appreciate that you share with us even the difficult feelings. You are an amazing person and what you have with Ryuji is so real and special that I'm sure his parents couldn't help but love and accept you! ❤️
That wouldn't have bothered me, actually: people think my smile is wonderful in person, but if you freeze one at any given moment, especially under contrived circumstances like school portraits, I just look kinda goofy. :)
Kelly, you are SO inspiring! Just meeting my boyfriend's (now husband's) American family gave me major anxiety! 😆 I couldn't imagine meeting parents from a different culture! But Ryuji's mom seemed really welcoming and kind. ❤️ Thank you for being so brave sharing these moments with us. 💞
So amazing that that she was willing to make everything allergy free. My husbands family and my own don't even do this when I come to meals... I bring my own food now lol
This was SO very sweet! Thank you so much for allowing us to spend this very important time with you both. I love the video and images of Japan. Amazing and so different. I live in the desert of North America. Thank you and sending you many New Year's blessings.
This was such a pleasure to watch! I'm an English teacher too and currently studying Japanese (but I'm Italian). You have such a lovely relationship! I wish you a happy marriage and a happy life
You two are beautiful couple. Even both of you grew-up in different countries and cultures, yet still have the same good family values of caring and loving. Watching your video warms my heart💜
So I just discovered your videos and seeing the love and kindness of Ryuji's family brought tears to my eyes. I'm also engaged and my fiance's family is so welcoming too and it just reminded me how blessed I am. 💗
Hello, from Montreal Canada. this video reminds me of when i took my wife to meet my family for the first time! I am Japanese with Canadian wife! its so nice to see other international couple!
I absolutely loved this video, your happiness is contagious and I found myself smiling with you! I wish both you and Ryuji so much health, happiness, and love this new decade!!!
I love Toyama. That’s where my husbands parents live as well. So nice to go there..away from all the craziness of the city. Also the fish there tastes soooo good
You guys have the same smile and are so adorable together. And he was an adorable kid. Again I have to say that you are beautiful and amazing. When it comes to Japanese speaking you are very lucky that you got to experience so many thing and no matter what you are doing great. You still young, I am 43 and trying to learn to speak Japanese but hard to remember words and putting sentences together. Being an English teacher is difficult because you are only supposed to speak to the students. I hope that you stay warm and happy always with Ryuji and yeah.... 9milllion kids definitely made me laugh.
Wow I went to that village in late 2017 and there was more than a metre of snow there! I wonder why there wasn't any snow this year.. I was able to visit there because my host families grandparents lived in takayama (they normally lived in Saitama) and we spent new years there. It was such a good experience and this video has brought back some wonderful memories :)
This was really lovely to watch! I'd like to visit the village one day and that house was so cute! I love the way they sound when they speak Japanese, his mother's voice is so beautiful.
How wonderful that you got to meet his parents and visit his childhood home. I always wanted to visit Shirakawa Go! I may have a chance I'm heading to Takayama and Toyama in April! Happy New Year to you both!
That Black and white photo of you is so beautiful, the way your standing, looking at the camera, it tells so many different stories. This video was really sweet!
It was nerve wracking for me too to meet my bf’s parents in Tokyo few months ago, especially that my Japanese is very beginner level 😅 Happy to see that everything went well for you! You’re such a great couple ❤️
Hey! Your channel just popped up on my recommendation and I watched few videos. I am already in love with you guys! I am 23 years old Japanese girl and working in Canada. Your first videos just reminded me how I was when I got here in Canada when I was 20. Well, I still feel lonely enough but you just gave me such a good idea of my future! Hopefully my lonely life will turn out like yours! Thank you for making those awesome videos!!!
It's so cute Ryuji's mom was so nervous that she drank beer like water.^^ The first time, I met my boyfriend's parents his dad was so nervous he spoke a lot in broken English. XD I wonder what other effects you had on the family?^^ Good luck with the 9 million kids! XD
You guys are so adorable I cant ahhhh, glad it went well meeting his parents! That village is stunning, Its amazing being able to go places that date back all the way BC...crazy
Hey Kelly, I have been following you for about a month now and I love to see you grow as an individual. When I started watching your videos I felt appealed by your kind words. You seemed a little lonely and sad but you have now found someone to love this is amazing. You now seem so happy and complete. May god bless you with love and hapiness for the rest of your life ! Keep posting new content I love your channel and I love Japan ! Thank you, you are truly inspiring xx
Japanese culture is so family oriented, love it, I lived 3 years in Yokosuka and a little bit of it in Nagai , and would have to use the buses for transportation until we moved onto the Naval base. Always beautiful countryside. 👍🏻👍🏻🤗❤️👵🏼
Totally understand where you are coming from. My in laws are also Japanese , but live in Oahu Hawaii. Their parents where there during Pearl Harbor. Give yourself some time and in time they will love you. I've been married 6 years this coming weekend . I am so happy for both of you . Happy New Year to you both. Look forward seeing more adventures from you :)
I was in Shirakawa-go about 2 weeks before you visited! While I was disappointed I didn’t see snow there due to a wrong assumption on my part, I still loved it there as it’s such a beautiful place! Ryuji’s childhood dream of wanting to be Superman and you jokingly saying it’s an unrealistic relationship reminded me of this old song called Superman by Crystal Kay! Not sure if you know about this song but I love it to death and I think the chorus is so sweet. Chorus: 空を飛べる訳じゃないし 時を止める事も出来ない それでもyou're my hero ずっと oh ただいつまでもその笑顔見せて そばにいてくれるだけでいい 誰よりも強く優しい You are my superman forever
Do you and Ryuji speak only in English when you're in Tokyo? If yes, would you consider having a challenge like "speak only in Japanese for one day a week" when you are with Ryuji or something like that?
What a delightful time ... Thanks for sharing this significant moment with us ... You 2 are a ideal match! Wishing you a happy and healthy new year 🎊🎈🎉 Success with all your future ventures 😁✌💚
You have great editing skills for vlogs, even for simple activities like cleaning your house you make watching it enjoyable. You inspire me to edit / start my own.
Loved this. Been following your journey for a while after I visited Japan for the first time. I also feel like if I have a connection with that country don’t know why. Love seeing you and Ryuji together through this journey. Only a suggestion, If you want to improve your Japanese, take advantage and only speak Japanese at home. This really helps when I do this with my small daughters and Spanish. Thanks for your videos!
Hi Kelly, I remember meeting my parents in law and family in law for the first time in Morocco it was maybe 2 hours after I landed. My husband who was only my boyfriend at the time brought me to his friend's house first to make me feel less nervous. Its very scary meeting foreign parents and having language barrier.😊❤His parents and grandma loved me when they met me right away.🥰 I hope you guys have a great new year in 2020.🙏🏼❤
Thank you for the honor in taking us to meet new family! What a special time! I totally get being nervous meeting his family. You're a beautiful couple... It was a beautiful scenery and town... I loved the historical museum as well! I'd love to see more historical locations. Do they have any historical reenactment groups or towns like in America?
I was planning on visiting Shirakawa-go sometime this week and was shocked that there wasn’t any snow in sight. Previous years I’ve visited there would be lots of it by January. Decided to skip out because no snow 😭
Excellent video to start this series. It has everything, good editing, music and content. Emotion, life and love. God's Blessings for the new year, it is wonderful you seem so happy. Really love your view of life and challenges. You remind me so much of my (teacher) daughter. She has different challenges, but the same resolve, innovation and creativeness.
I’m not a softy crybaby but this episode really made me cry from laughing and joy🤣 Japanese culture is awesome and so family oriented,Thank you for sharing this with the world.
What a beautiful place in Japan. I remember when i first meet my Taiwanese girlfriend mother and father. It was very exciting and scary at the same time. We do live on just one planet but cultures are so different and interesting. I really like interracial couples. I think is fantastic how much you learn while living together with somebody that is so different. Great video.
Not all interracial couples r good. Many white men/Asian women couples end up abusing n killing each other, n their own children, at reddit com/hapas SMH
@@terminatorevil766 I agree that it is far more difficult to have a positive relation in this case (I think this is wonderful because is hard). Also this depends on many factors from both partners : EX: education level, personality, mind-set, personal goals etc.
I dont usually comment, but for some reason I really wanted to thank you for letting us into your life. I feel that it was a really real and normal video. I myself just started dabbling in social media recently. It is very nerve wrecking and a lot more pressure then some viewers realise. Also the two of you are soo cute together. And I love how he always uplifts you out of your anxiety. Like that is such a positive relationship. I am so happy for you, which is so weird, because I dont even know you but still.... Ok being real for a moment, I am so grateful for this video because I want to visit as many of the old villages that are left as possible, and now this will go on the list. I didn't even know it existed.
shirakawago is the village called "Hinamizawa" in "Higurashi no naku koro ni" , one of the only anime that I liked because of the atmosphere of the village ♥ teenage memories haha ♥
Awww you guys make such an amazing couple. It's so scary meeting your partners parents. I have been with my boyfriend for 5 years. They only found out he was gay the christmas before they met me. Poor Ryuji's mom!! Lol At least you know she was probably worried about making a good impression with you as well. Shows how much they want their son to be happy! Obviously they trust his judgment and want you around.
Thank you for your channel. I have watched all your videos and immensely enjoyed them. You do such a professional job. Thank you again. May God bless both of you.
It's so beautiful to see how you guys radiate with happiness! It makes me all fuzzy and warm to see two people love each other like you guys do haha!
Aww thank you!
Yee it is, kinda makes me want to have same feeling to xD to feel that happiness. Best of wishes to Kelly and Ryuji ;)

Not only am I a foreigner...I am a TH-camr as well. So I was scared haha.
Omg when you said "I'm in Ryuji's room" something straight of out of a high-school-sweethearts movie! Aww
wow that village was so dreamy.. going there with a love sounds like heaven
It's very instagrammable too!
9 million kids lmao. this man wanted to raise a whole country. 😂
🤣
Yea it made me like both of them less. I’d b like heck no!
@@KellyMorita Hey Kelly! With or without make-up, you are absolutely stunning! Even Ryuji would bet on that.
