My girlfriends and I did a really fun dance to this in my grade school talent show. One of my all time favorite songs and for sure best groups of all time!

This was their first single, which put them on the map. The rest of the songs on the album (cooleyhighharmony) is the sound you’re “accustom” to when it comes to B2M. There’s some great songs on this album, and “Please don’t go” in my opinion is the best; while “Lonely Heart” is a sleeper that most people don’t talk about.
@@jmrx12 Understandable, and it’s the perfect song to release as their first. It introduced them and where they’re from. With that said, it’s a song that had to be released first because New Jack Swing was really in, and it had to have the dance vibe to it. But, I’ve always been more in to the slow jams, so this actually ranks about fourth or fifth for myself from the album. I’d put Please don’t go, Lonely Heart, uhh ahh, and this is my heart above it (staying with the original release, so won’t include end of the road of course). Everybody has their personal preference, and mine has always been the slow jams.
The other groups that you saw in that video- were groups that were up and coming in that time. Such as Another Bad Creation. White dudes Sudden Impact- I don't believe had much lift off- not one that I know of. But, Another Bad Creation did- for about a minute. Just giving you a little history. If you ever get a chance to play- A Little Bit of Love by New Edition whenever you are heartbroken. Stay sweet-:)

Oh my God those songs take me back! I'm surprised somebody of the didn't me knows who minute large R. My 2 songs were use me and salty dog. Sad to say but a lot of the songs everybody mentioned are back in my rotation.
Since somebody else beat me to the punch about Michael Bivens (the "Biv" in Bell Biv Devoe or BBD) rapping, I'd just like to add more FYIs/context about the song and the group. BBD was the one who discovered them and got them the record deal with Motown, which explains the title of the song that was actually their debut single. Bivins managed them through their debut album but I'm not sure if he stayed on beyond it because he seems to have been totally absent from their 2nd album onwards. The song was a Hot 100 Top 5 but what really made them superstars was an LA Reid & Babyface ( he was part of a songwriting/producing duo back then) song on the Boomerang movie soundtrack called End of the Road that they claimed they barely even remember recording in the middle of their tour. Well, their lack of memory didn't matter as it quickly reached #1 (their first) and spent a then record-setting 13 weeks there. They then broke that record 2 years later with 14 weeks for I'll Make Love To You and then broke that record again along with Mariah Carey with One Sweet Day, staying at #1 for 16 weeks, which for almost 2 decades held the record for longest stay at the top spot in Billboard's Hot 100 history.
From what I remember hearing, they were told to release a more catchier, jamming song first as a single instead of a slower paced song. they felt the catchier fun song would appeal to more people, get the attention. the song was already recorded but the studio felt it was the one that would introduce the world to B2M. it worked. it was a jam and people eventually supported their other songs even though they didn't sound like this one.

So lil history..The white kids in the video 'Sudden Impact" are from Newport News VA.. Michael Bivens discovered them when a member of Sudden Impact gave him a mixed tape out in L.A. Aaron Kane the lead singer of Sudden Impact was working with Teddy Riley from Guy who had just moved to VA beach.. Legitimately one of the first artist to work with Riley before all the famous artist came out the 757 like Pharrell,Missy,etc.etc.. Aaron Kane has plenty of videos out and is currently a music producer in Philly.. They were signed to Bivens but never formally recorded an album..

The other groups that you saw in that video- were groups that were up and coming in that time. Such as Another Bad Creation. White dudes Sudden Impact- I don't believe had much lift off- not one that I know of. But, Another Bad Creation did- for about a minute. Just giving you a little history. If you ever get a chance to play- A Little Bit of Love by New Edition whenever you are heartbroken. Stay sweet-:)

In Australia and The UK they are revered. When The Backstreet Boys started out they wanted to be known as a New Kids On The Block Image with a Boyz To Men Vibe. On The X Factor (UK) any up and coming Boy Band talk about how Boyz To Men influenced them and in 2002 when a group of kids were let go on Popstars The Rivals the kids who could stay sang "One Sweet Day" When they were in Europe on a Talk Show they serenaded one of the Co Hosts Angela Griffin with Open Arms by Journey and the woman nearly lost it.

Oh my God those songs take me back! I'm surprised somebody of the didn't me knows who minute large R. My 2 songs were use me and salty dog. Sad to say but a lot of the songs everybody mentioned are back in my rotation.
Since somebody else beat me to the punch about Michael Bivens (the "Biv" in Bell Biv Devoe or BBD) rapping, I'd just like to add more FYIs/context about the song and the group. BBD was the one who discovered them and got them the record deal with Motown, which explains the title of the song that was actually their debut single. Bivins managed them through their debut album but I'm not sure if he stayed on beyond it because he seems to have been totally absent from their 2nd album onwards. The song was a Hot 100 Top 5 but what really made them superstars was an LA Reid & Babyface ( he was part of a songwriting/producing duo back then) song on the Boomerang movie soundtrack called End of the Road that they claimed they barely even remember recording in the middle of their tour. Well, their lack of memory didn't matter as it quickly reached #1 (their first) and spent a then record-setting 13 weeks there. They then broke that record 2 years later with 14 weeks for I'll Make Love To You and then broke that record again along with Mariah Carey with One Sweet Day, staying at #1 for 16 weeks, which for almost 2 decades held the record for longest stay at the top spot in Billboard's Hot 100 history.

From what I remember hearing, they were told to release a more catchier, jamming song first as a single instead of a slower paced song. they felt the catchier fun song would appeal to more people, get the attention. the song was already recorded but the studio felt it was the one that would introduce the world to B2M. it worked. it was a jam and people eventually supported their other songs even though they didn't sound like this one.
You were spot on with them having that 60s sound. They were our generations Temptations or 4 Tops.

Coming late, why they didn't do faster songs Michael "Bass" McCrary he had scoliosis. He needed a cane to walk around. They incorporated canes to their style. This is their 1st single. Unfortunately, Michael was informed he was going to be at risk for paralysis to the dancing. He is now suffering from multiple sclerosis. That's why you see 3 men instead of 4

So lil history..The white kids in the video 'Sudden Impact" are from Newport News VA.. Michael Bivens discovered them when a member of Sudden Impact gave him a mixed tape out in L.A. Aaron Kane the lead singer of Sudden Impact was working with Teddy Riley from Guy who had just moved to VA beach.. Legitimately one of the first artist to work with Riley before all the famous artist came out the 757 like Pharrell,Missy,etc.etc..
Aaron Kane has plenty of videos out and is currently a music producer in Philly.. They were signed to Bivens but never formally recorded an album..
