I did this TSX swap to my 04' CRV a few years ago. Did the Type-S oil pump, 50 degree VTC and Kpro. It rips good and Vtec hits hard. I've got a lift and oversized tires and it pulls a drift boat pretty good
How much did it cost? I don't think I ll be able to drive manual but the crv wants to rip Edit I know how to drive manual no problem I just might lose a foot at some point
I have a 2002 crv. Everything about this video is exactly what I want to do to mine!! 6 speed, tsx motor, 2 inch lift. I'm so happy you guys are doing this!!! The crv community needed this video!
To make a long story short, I had a 2004 CRV EX with a TSX swap. I just used 6th gear from a doner TSX trans, RSX type S reverse lock-out. Karcepts throttle body adapter, 50*VTC from original K24A1, And i used a cheap E-bay RSX-S short ram intake. I would have used a full cold air intake, but couldnt really do that in Colorado. I always rocked the Acura Spark plug cover :) Unfortunately the car met its demise last October when somebody pulled out in front of me and it was totaled. Best "beater" daily driver car I ever owned. I also ran a K-Pro V4 ECU, which also let me program the reverse lock out. I miss that car badly. Looking forward to watching this series.
You could just do it all over again. Though all the time and money to hop up ol 15-20 year old tech may/may not floats everyone's boat in recent times.
4:20. I run a k24a2 with all RSX-S crank pulley, accessories, and water pump but without the AC compressor. What I did to find a 7 rib belt was to take the original part number 537k6 for the non-AC belt and run a goggle of 537k7 and found one for an obscure piece of farm implement. Worked perfectly. Perhaps you can try something similar. Also any PND, PPA and PPL ecu auto or manual, should run reverse lockout through the IAB plug by default when ran in PRB mode through the Kpro software.
My auto electrical and ac tech here in a australia said the factory compressor has a fault that causes it to predicably fail. But the remanufactured or honda newer replacements dont have the same fault. He also said that not changing the condensor for new means metal from the destructed older compressor will wreck the next compressor when circulating with the new fluid. Super reliable car other than this issue! Have a 4 inch lifted rd7.
So glad you guys did an rd4-6 5-speed. I hv the same exact crv , Tsx motor in my garage, just waiting on a k-pro , a few other goodies and I'll be in business. Thanks for the video, there are not too many out there doing this swap , idk why, because it's an easy come up and not too bad on the ol' wallet. TY vTech academy 🔥🔥🔥😁
I had that EXACT vehicle. 04 CRV AWD 5spd manual. AC never worked, headgasket issue, and gouged camshafts. Was going to do the TSX swap BUT the CRV was so far gone as far as RUST due to living in a rust belt state!! Had to get rid of her!!! I was mad AF. Learnt my lesson on just going down south to buy cars. NOTHING NORTH of the NC line. And btw here in SW PA. The best mpg I got was in my CRV 15mpg and the HIGHWAY SUCKED. Screaming at 3400 rpms going 65mph.
I have a 04 5 speed lifted on Aerogenics 3” kit on 225/75/16 toyos that you are more than welcome to use for the test run if you want to. Love it. Did have to do a lot of research to get rid of the axle vibration but love it now. Will need to do the 6 speed swap but down the line. Love the content ❤👍🏽
If that transmission had locked up you can bet CR-Vs would be known for manual transmission issues. The constant lack of maintenance on vehicles is outstanding and more so when they age.

😮Yes lets go! This is my current daily and I was thinking a super charger or small turbo. Mine is a 5speed. Was thinking putting a tsx trans. Yup common issue with those compressor I just by passed with smaller belt for now.
When my ac compressor pooped itself on my k20/24 i used a 6 rib and it was just fine. good idea to make sure it sits the same side on each pully though. 525k6 on a ep3 if that helps anyone
With 10w50 you lose maybe 1hp but possibility to spun a bearing decreases drastically! Factories used thin oil for emissions accomplish! For those motors in abuse mode I use 10w60 no problems at all!

I'm planning to do this swap real soon here. What are some tips you guys can help give me? What kind of mod did you do to the tb cable bracket? Sensor? Wire harness?
Maaaaaan, I was hoping it was an 05-06 manual CRV getting a swap. My 06 burns oil like crazy and is begging for a swap but the DBW setup on the 05-06 makes it a PITA without any tuning support. 😢
I’m 15 and my first car is an 04 crv with the 5 speed and it has 184k on it and from what I know it was taken good care of I’m just wondering how long it will last me before it dies?
You mean the front crash bar? I think in Japan they didn't come with a front crash bar at all until (or including) the EK! IIRC the EK9 Type R has very minimal front and rear crash bars, if it does have them. It's funny how regulations differ. Here in Australia EGs up to 1993 had no front crash bar (so presumably EFs didn't have them either), only 1994 and 1995s did according to the parts diagram. There must have been a change of Australian regulations in 1994.
Nobody probably answers questions here. I have pretty good condition 2002 2.0 Petrol engine one. But also probably has AC burning rubber Has only ~120k km on it (74k miles) legit. I am second owner of it I do use it for off-road work on my homestead but it is completely stock. I was wondering if i want to rebuild it completely for better off-roading what engine swap options i would have as EU citizen ? And i want to keep it automatic also.
In 2002 the US market CRV had the K series engine. You could swap a K24A engine like we did. The problem will be the computer. Check with Hondata to see if they can modify your computer so that you can tune the engine and leave the transmission controls alone.
LMFAO I got y'all beat on miles! I have a 06 CRV with 340xxx and the b*tch still drive like a champ. I'm on my 2nd transmission. I completely changed the front end suspension. But I have been dealing with this wicked shaking on my car while driving over 60mph. Ive switch the drive front axle twice. Idk if the crv doesn't like cheap AutoZone axles!?
@@thisperfectworld replaced front and back. Side looked ok. Just got tires for it and it still shake on the highway. My next step is a alignment but if that don't work. Then I'm giving up on spending money on it

Side tip for folks, you can always take a rope/string/etc and route it the way the belt goes and get the length needed.
The number on the belt is usually the length of its circumference
I love the simple swaps like this, where stuff is just meant to be. Great job and diy friendly too!

If that transmission had locked up you can bet CR-Vs would be known for manual transmission issues. The constant lack of maintenance on vehicles is outstanding and more so when they age.
You can use the nitrous controls in KPro to run the reverse lockout solenoid and 1320 makes a header that fits

I did an MDX swap on my pilot lol. A little bigger but same premise. I got the same J35 but a higher compression, and a bit more power.
This is a great video on the crv’s👍
That transmission...wow.
Late 80s to early 2000s Hondas and Toyotas are the best cars in the world.

speaking of power steering hoses..have you noticed how the suction/feed hose from an aftermarket supplier is 4 times the cost of the factory one.
Planning to do this on my 05 crv. Just wondering if you guys reused the crv ecu and engine harness thanks

Can you make mounts for J swap
Yeah my element 5 speed was not great on gas either, but given the weight... guess it isnt that bad
On stock suspension you can fit 35 and they cleared
swap out the tail lights for 05-06 crv's!
drop in swap AND cleaner. swaps amber for clear. just need the wiring harnesses that come with them

Brian(spelling?), is there an engine management you can think of for the automatic 4sp CRV? i hear you can potentially use kpro for an element
Will it have a code for the runner that was on the crv manifold or is there a bypass for it ??? Since you change to a tsx intake manifold
Strap a small turbo to it
I got the part number for a 7 rib with ac without the power steering if you want that
