It is kind of games for some people who find them great
Look a at witcher 3 (which is similar to witcher 2) is very loved however in reality just side quests and map are epic
The rest are normal or even bad but a top game, nonetheless.

@@venator5421 Most triple A games nowadays are soulless and lack of immersion. The witcher trilogy might have its flaws, but the overall experience with the very well written plot lines, intriguing characters and beautiful settings is what make these games what they really mean to us: truly soulfull masterpieces. Three games with a real immersion in their own worlds.

@@horseradishwithchives dude i play this game at least once a year. Now, only on insane.
FIrst insane run, i actually died in a cutscene, lol. Rescuing Philippa, Radovid leaves you with the nilfgaardians. I forgot I had to press a button to burn the arm binds. I thought it was either automatic, or cutscene triggered (You turn off quicktime events, like dragon dive and stab in insane)
The nilfgardina tabbed and gutted geralt. I jammed my finger onto esc, hoping i could load.
You see my very first insane run i died in the ghost battle to the arows. One arrow and you die. Means just one heartbeat off in the runs between the barricades.
I hit esc fast enough my geralt didn't die in the cutscene, and i quickly reloaded. To almost die so close to the end. Beat the nilfgaard camp, and the dragon. Obviously skip letho. Get the insane achievement.

@@elyastoohey6621 just got the reply. props for the insane runs & game knowledge, it's quite a trip, i remember.
my strat was to level geralt in flotsam in the nekkar caves. there are spots in the cave where you can clear a dozen, meditate, and repeat. had enough experience & orens to get diamond reinforcements, negate backstab damage, decent quen protection, and tavern whores lol.
i had around 200hrs before realizing flotsam tavern has a storage chest in the lower levels.
still playing it today too and mostly ReShading it to my liking - filter effects, ambient occlusion, shaders & lights...they're chill sessions while taking in the ambience.
about to cross the mist with phillipas protection. iorveth path is my favorite, saskia is just mmmphm or as geralt would say, hmmmm.

@@elyastoohey6621not sure why my reply was deleted but ye, it's a joy to read your experiences on Insane.
I took an early grinding approach. In Flotsam, there is a nekker cave (elf quest) where you can clear a dozen, meditate by entrance, and repeat. Leveled quen, negated backstab damage, and got enough orens from selling nekker hearts & teeth to buy diamond armor reinforcements + visits to Alia, Falka, Lobelia, & Libena if you catch my drift.
In the elven ruins (Rose of Remembrance) you can set dozens of snares before the Letho fight. He'll get bit by all of 'em before he reaches Geralt.
The Draugir fight & the Dragon runs do give some arse clenching flashbacks...
Currently doing another Iorveth path run, getting ready to enter the mist with Philippa's aid, whilst ReShading the game to my liking. Still looks glorious to this day.
It's a special, cozy, nostalgic gem of a game.

July 2019, internet went out in my town for for more than 2 weeks.helped me focus on improving my english as I studied a bit of stuff in a dictionary. but it eventually got boring. No social media, video games , communications or youtube. Just this game on my pc. Got immersed in it like I never played any video game before.
Majestic experience really, feeling that I am stuck with nothing but to roam around flotsam with this beautiful music on. would sleep and dream about it. the atmosphere was incredible, Triss was also incredible. finished the game a couple times. then the internet came back and eventually school and I forgot all about this game. and after a year now in July 2020 I heard this music again for the first time. Having unimaginable nostalgia sensation. I think that music is the best way to reminisce..

Then those annoying Nekkars oh the horrors when they ganged up on me and I was having a hard time fighting them cause I lost the silver sword and then encountering the kraken ohh the amount of frustration i felt when my health gets sapped to half each time the cut scene ended and finally the two paths either I side with the Iorveth or with the Timeria squad jeez it gets real ugly in those last moments staying in flotsam. Oof but when the dawn hits and this music starts I felt so calm

This game is still a masterpiece 11 years on. I bougth the original box copy, got the funny little coin and map. I sucked so bad at the game as I had never played a game like W2 so far prior to that. A game that punished you so harshly. A game that rewarded preparation, and punished just rushing in. A game where blocking would reduce damage from 100% only to like 50%.
I hadn't played it since 2015, loaded it up last Christmas and finally beat it on insane. Finally had every achievement (I bought it again on steam back in like 2015)

I finished The Witcher 2 like 14 times already, sometimes two times in a row and I still enjoy every playthrough. A priceless gem. The best parts of it were the overall tone and most importantly the dialogues and writing that was vibrant and engaging. Witcher 1 and 3 are also excellent in this regard, but they feel unnatural, boring and bland in comparasion to TW2 in my opinion.
