Chills. Just chills down my spine. I love.this game so much. It means so much to me as a writer. It was the game that influenced my first horror story and from that horror story now my first novel. This almost made me cry.

This franchise laid the foundation of my love for niche horror. SH2 is, to me, lightning in a bottle. While most games nowadays pander to over the top gore and murder porn, this game brings us back to a fear we never give credit to- atmosphere and ambience. The two subtle nudges that can shake you further than any monster could. You don't know what's lurking on that forest trail. You hear it in the closing distance. There's no wind, birds, your view is limited due to fog.. It's just your footsteps, and whatever could be stalking you on your way into town by the lakeside. The apartment halls? Well, we all remember the third floor right before entering. The camera angles and shadowing were sheer genius. Shaky in intervals, slightly downward, lethargic, closed in and anxious. You enter, and you're greeted with a strained breathing aided by a respirator. This adds to the claustrophobia on your end, and adds to James' frustration of feeling trapped. I'll ramble about this game until the day I die. I love this franchise.
Yea it looks incredible doesn't it. I hope the Remake all 4 of the originals. Team Bloober definitely ARE qualified to handle the job
Somehow I don’t think it will be as scary. I think the lower graphics of the PS2 gave it a “dreamy” look, adding to the claustrophobia, and the less defined character models left a lot to the imagination, which made it more terrifying in one’s mind. I’m not against this remake, but I think the original was perfect.

Beat the game yesterday. You guys hit it out of the park. One of the scariest games I've ever played. The acting, sound design, level design, puzzles, and overall feeling of this remake has no doubt proven all of your skeptics wrong. I look forward to seeing what you guys do in the future.
The detail on his ring finger is already foreshadowing a lot, I love this. It’s like he recently took off his ring while his wife died 3 years ago.

Bloober Team... es tu momento de demostrar de que puedes hacer uno de los Remake más esperados de la historia, demuestra de que estás a la altura de dicho proyecto y hazlo mejor que cualquier otro estudio. Expándelo, corrígelo y usa tu experiencia así como la "admiración" que dices tener por el vídeojuego para entregarnos a todos nosotros algo digno de esta obra maestra del horror psicológico.
Silent Hill 2 estuvo esperando esto muchísimos años junto a la comunidad de fans y es algo que NO DEBE ser arruinado jamás.
PD: Un ejemplo de Remake perfecto es Resident Evil 1 y ahora también Resident Evil 4, ambos mejoraron el trabajo original sin matar su escencia, la expandieron y la convirtieron en una absoluta e indiscutible obra maestra de los vídeojuegos.

Love how Silent Hill 2 is not that big(literally 2 only sold 1 million copies) and this trailer literally has under 100k, but mfs are spoiling it in the comment section. Thanks for spoiling this game with a supposably great, mind twisting, and mature story in the comments. IK it's 20 years old, but it's more influential than actually successful.
I really hope Yamaoka doesn't go overboard with the new version of the OST like Square Enix did with a lot of the Final Fantasy VII Remake OST. Every track doesn't need 44 instruments backing it up. Most tracks are better being minimalistic because they were originally made that way with intent. Just because you can add an orchestra doesn't mean it's needed or you should. After a while it jumps the shark and you get moments like you have in some areas of FFVII Remake where small moments end up having music behind them that sounds way too over the top for what is happening.
I honestly don't think any songs in SH2's original OST should have an entire orchestra behind them. It just make no sense for the type of game and feel of the original music. Adding more does not = better. That's simply quantity over quality. I want quality over quantity. Not Silent Hill 2 with an OST that sounds like it was made for epic fantasy.
Completely agree. FFVII Remake has some really well re-done tracks but the majority of them were worse than the originals. In the original FFVII, each track has it's own feel. In the "Remake" (which sucked compared to the original game, btw) lots of the songs feel very similar. That whole game was a mess, imo. Really hoping Rebirth is better... and that Yamaoka doesn't f-up the feel of the original SH2 soundtrack.
from what we can hear in the trailer some of that "minimalism" and "industrial" sound has been lost, but until we see the complete product we will see the result

How? Their other games are mid at best, basically walking simulators with a few jumpscares. Never once did they capture the psychological horror and the tense atmosphere you felt through the entire playthrough of silent hill. I would have more trust in people who made signalis or other actually scary horror games not this modernised trash that follows the boring concept which was born with amnesia.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Announced From Mateusz Lenart, Creative Director & Lead Designer at Polish 🇵🇱 Bloober Team Studios.. Bloober Team, expressed their intentions to remake the game while also modernizing it.
"To put it simply, our goal is to make everything that made the game a timeless classic, but delve even deeper into the foggy streets of Silent Hill," said director Mateusz Lenart, who previously served as creative director of The Medium.
Let’s hope they remake the other Team Silent games. 3,4 Silent Hill 4 was the last and the best horror game the scariest of them all!
I think Silent Hill 2 is a dream project for the devs considering they made The Medium and it was very Silent Hill-esque with even Akira Yamaoka providing the OST.

It is a big thing to remake one of the highest ranked horror game.
I didn't like the trailer at first tbh, but I've watched it 5 times now and it grew on me. Now I can't f***ing wait until I get my hands on it!
hope they dont modernize it too much. People want it they way it is from puzzles, scary sounds that sent chills, music, disturbing monsters, immersive environment, combat, and of course the voice acting delivery
If this game doesn't include a far more advanced version of the dynamic noise filter (the one Team Silent spent a lot of time and effort to create and pushed the PS2 console to it's limits to do so) I will not consider it a complete remake. The dynamic noise filter, in the original PS2 version of the game, was absolutely incredible and a huge aspect of the game. It enhanced the atmosphere, gameplay, aesthetics, and creepiness by a very large margin and was the biggest technical aspect of the game that made it's visuals unique. If there is just some lesser noise filter applied to the new game, that will be a seriously bad move by Bloober Team.
Same goes for the fog. Regular game fog simply will not do. It needs to by highly detailed and dynamic. Swirling around, changing directions and behaving in a peculiar way compared to regular fog. It should be the best looking fog ever created for a game on any platform. Fog that pushes the limits of the PS5 just like the original fog pushed the limits of the PS2. (This is why only the original PS2 version was able to run that specific fog. It needs to be impressive enough that people are shocked and make comments upon seeing it. Like "Wow. Do you see this fog? This is crazy!"
Both of these things should be of upmost importance when it comes to the atmospheric visual aspects of the new game.
Please do this game justice, guys. It's the best and most beloved horror game of all time and must be treated as such. Take as long as you need to make it something truly exceptional.
I could not agree more. Those are two must haves where no compromise should be made.
The dynamic fog in the trailer looks amazing (it's all real-time in game graphics).... far better than how it looked in SH2/3. The noise filter.... that's something that simply doesn't have the same effect on a modern 4K TV compared to older low resolution CRTs... no matter what you do. Based on what I've seen in the trailer.... I think they will do an amazing job at making a "modern" version of SH2.

I don't care what anyone says, bloober is one the few companies that's invested in making great horror experiences. The medium was good game, despite what critics say. SH2 remake looks like it's leaps and bounds ahead in terms of tech, and the animations are on par with something from naughty dog. The emotion captured on James' face is so realistic and does well to convey his emotions. I'm glad bloober has taken on this project.
I like what I see in the medium up to now. I hope they don't butcher this remake and they should help out with Alison road.
The Medium was an average game. It wasn't bad but it was no masterpiece. And it wasn't just "the critics," it was also the vast majority of players that gave it mediocre ratings (lots of 6's and 7's out of 10). Just look up the individual Metacritic scores for each platform it released on (PS5, PC, Xbox) and compare the critical reception to the user reception. And it's their best game.
Fans of SH2 are hopeful but feel like Bloober Team bit off more than they can chew since they're trying to remake not only a masterpiece but possibly the best survival/horror game ever created. That's a massive undertaking for a company that's only made a small number of games and has never created a masterpiece title. Some of their games have actually been _quite_ bad.

dear game makers/ producers please remember how cabcom ruined resident evil 3 remake for all of us dedicated fans by removing many of the game stories and game play. please stick to the story classics and remember all characters are important don't make gameplay short now with unreal engine 5 this should never happen anymore, no excuses.

Don't go down the "Modern Audience" road and just keep it real and you should be golden. Team Silent are some pretty big shoes to fill and I only recently found out it wasn't them developing it. You guys have the chance to drop one of the best games of all time and it's currently the only game in the "Modern Market" that is even interesting to me, I got my fingers crossed and I am wishing you the best. Thank you for trying to bring back something that has touched so many.

We all have concerns with content getting cut, the puzzles being too easy, Combat feeling clunky and straying too far from the original story. Include all content from Restless Dreams, maybe even include some cut concepts from the original. Puzzles should be the same or slightly more difficult. Combat should feel good, blocking would be nice but don't make us invulnerable either. Keep the story the exact same, changing anything will make a lot of people mad. I hope for the best as do we all, but a lot is at stake here,

In the original version, James was 29 years old, his face had no wrinkles, he was tall and had a larger body, and he was very handsome and had an innocent voice. But this character I see in SH2R is more like a moving corpse

Silent hill 2 był pierwszym horrorem przez który przebrnąłem parę razy ze względu na historię. Resident evil ok ale silent hill 2 pokazał że fabuła może wciągnąć w game play. Czekam z niecierpliwością bloober team mam nadzieję że zrobicie kawał dobrej roboty.
I love what you are doing and have faith in your studio. I also understand why Konami and you can't use James Sunderland old face model because of some issues with Guy Cihi in the past but maybe you can tone down the golden glow of James hair and give James a less longer face in your version of this game.

Hi there people from bloober, the fundamentals of a faithful remake is a graphical overhaul with state of the art visuals. Unless you want to re-imagine the original with changes to its roots, graphics are not of absolute importance. Please read this and understand the trailer show subpar visuals.

Remake: Added parking spaces to accommodate the way James parked his car, completely missing the point of what created the atmosphere in the original. If he had parked on the pedestrian walkway in the original, Bloober would have drawn parking spaces there too

It's obviously 5 since it's not coming to previous gen consoles and they already worked with 5 on Layers of Fears.
