I really like Meletti and it's about as inexpensive as you can get for amaro in my market. It's probably my favorite for an Amaro Latte. It's also great in a 50/50 with mezcal or, weirdly, Campari. I know you like a Paper Plane and the version with tequila specifically calls for Meletti in place of Nonino.
Meletti was the gateway Amaro for me, very approachable and on the sweeter side like you said with Nonino, Montenegro, and Averna. I think it's kind of underrated in the category and really quality v. price, it's right up there with the best Amari out there. Cheers!
I mix a few dashes/drops 7-8 of Angostura orange bitters, 2-4 dashes/drops of the bitter truth Jerry Thomas own decanter bitters and Meletti then top it with a little sprite and it tastes like a sweeter chinotto absolutely beautiful I I love it and am a fan,,,
@@UnclePete I know the town where Meletti is made along with other delights! It's fabulous to visit and have some delicious treats! We (husband and I!!) left with plenty of lovely stuff to make delicious cocktails with! If you ever get the chance to visit if in this region of Italy it's well worth it. Gorgeous surroundings. Breathtaking!! Have an awesome weekend!! 🙂
Yeah cream soda is vanilla flavored right? I can see that, but it didn't jump out at me. Thanks for watching to the end! I got you nature video submission, I will use it soon!
@@UnclePete I’m just happy to be here. Hope I can help the ball club. And hopefully @trufflesontherocks will see the comments about amaro lattes. Good lord willing things will work out.
@@UnclePete It was good! Not particularly a showcase for the Meletti (the drink had rye, lemon, apricot liqueur, pineapple gomme, absinthe, and Angostura as well, so there was a lot going on), but it was tasty nonetheless. The other drink I had there was even better: bonded bourbon, sherry, Nixta, Amaro Sibilla (first time I think I've seen that?), amaretto, and Elemakule tiki bitters).
Hell yes it does! One of my favorites. I like that it's floral but not as sweet as many of the other floral ones. I really like the Sharpie Mustache as well. Would love to try your cocktail but I just ran out of Cocchi Americano 😄 Time to get more!
I haven't tried Lucano in a long time, but my guess is that Lucano is less floral, but I'd have to try it again. I can have some at work next week and get back to you.
Lucano is similar, it’s darker in color, a bit less bright on the nose and palette, not as floral. To me Lucano is closer to some carciofos like Cioco and C3 than Meletti. It’s a suitable substitute though
Love Meletti! Like to use it with tea infused spirits for some interesting variations on boulevardiers and Vieux Carré. Wonder how it would be in one your amaro lattes?
Have now made 2 versions of "As You Drink It" subbing out the Cocchi. The first with Lillet Blanc, which was OK, but a little too floral (probably from the Lillet *with* Meletti), tasking almost like it had St Germain in it. Not bad, but not quite interesting or complex enough. The second was following @stephane.foisy.186 's idea with sherry, but I had Oloroso open and not Amontillado. And I *loved* the result! But for me with the addition of a total of 0.5 oz simple syrup (0.25 oz more than the original). Not sure why as the amontillado has a decent chance to be drier than my oloroso, but in any case that was what balanced it for me. And the complexity and the way it complemented the Meletti was really nice! Recommend trying some variation of this for sure.
Amazing! I’m considering pitching this drink at work, and trying the sherry variation, we have every kind of sherry there so I will try both and report back. Thanks for shaking up my little drink!
Commenting before watching to answer the thumbnail question… YES IT IS!😊
No Spoilers! LOL Yeah it rules.
Joint youtube venture, JF should try using it for an amaro latte on his channel!
The latter collab must be tried
Love Meletti. I’m a Amari groupie but enjoy this nonetheless. ✌🏾
Thanks pal!

Ohh tequila paper plane sounds like a winner!

I couldn’t agree more! It doesn’t get enough love!
my cousin once described it as being “like drinking a flower”
Totally. But not as much as Montenegro, so not even the most flowery one!

This is a favourite Amaro! Fabulous cocktail Pete! Love your video as always! Cheers!! 🙂
Thanks Christine!

@@UnclePete It sure is Pete!!
In my head meletti has cream soda notes, but that might be more from the color. That bird flying through at the end was brilliant.

Timely! I don't see a ton of Meletti in cocktails around town but happened to have one just last night at Expatriate (the "Parachute").
I have not been to Expatriate in a while! I should get back there, I remember it fondly...

You could try it with sherry in stead as @stephanefoisy pointed out, but it’s pretty good with cocci!
Sounds delish!
It was delish!
A delicious amaro. Don’t have any cocci but just opened a dry sherry that I think will be perfect for your cocktail.
Oh yeah I think it be great with sherry!
@@UnclePete well I can report back it is!!! I’ll give more details later but the first sip was great.
Awesome! I'd love to hear your recipe!
@@UnclePete exactly like yours except I used a dry amontillado sherry instead of cocchi
Right on

Thanks!

I'm sure it makes a great Amaro Latte! maybe a little sweet? I'm going to try it though!
Also @michaelpeper2778 likes it in an AL!
I would like a bottle of clarified cocktail please
