A weird problem is driving me crazy. Rock-Ola 454, issue is with selector digit 7. It will not register as the second digit. Every other number registers fine, but when I press 7 as the second digit nothing happens. BUT: 7 will always register as the third digit. So if I try to select 1-7-6 or 2-7-6 the 7 does not register-nothing happens when I press it. But if I select 1-6-7 or 2-6-7 each number registers, and the record plays. There is no problem with any other number or combination, all the records play. I have cleaned the contacts and done the basics, to no avail. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Thanks for the helpful videos! I'm trying to fix an issue with hammer coils on the selector side. I think it's the last thing I have left to fix! I guess I'll just check all the connections I can find. Hopefully I find it!

Hammer coil circuit is complex. See sequence # 8 in manual (454-460 models). Note that K4,K5, K6,K7 and K2 are involved with this circuit not to mention the molex connectors along the way that should be reseated twice and cleaned with CRC or equivalent. Also select a 200 selection to be sure it is not the 100 selection coil that is bad. Gotta open up the credit unit and watch K2 and K5 actuate. If not, trace back from there. Best of luck

Thank you for these informative videos. I have had a 454 given to me from a fellow who owned it for 20 years and just used it for aesthetics and not for playing. I cleaned up the mechanical arm and have it flowing nicely through its motion. My current issue is that once the record is done playing it doesn’t register it as done to pick it up and switch it out. I hear a click when the record is done but the return sequence isn’t actuated. I can manually run the motor through the motion and once the record is returned and the limit switch drops into the pocket on the cam it will go ahead and grab the next record and play. What are some things I should look for in this failure to return the record after playing?

Both amp fuses on my 470 are blown. Any ideas?

Most likely a shorted heat sink transistor or a bad diode on the supply board. A blown fuse ususally indicates a serious amp problem.......you should have it rebuilt with new electrolytic capacitors installed and all transistors and power diodes on the capacitor board checked.

I have a Rock ola 464 when I make the selection the 3rd digit stays down and write in begins but never hammers the pin. I've cleaned and cleaned but still to no avail. Could it be somthing else or just need more cleaning. Thanks for the videos

the jukebox in my videos was a 460. I don't have the manual for a 464. There were some changes to the credit unit/ADR relay starting with the 464. You will need a manual. Steps 6, 7 and 8 are the pages you will want to study. The hammer coil circuit goes thru many connections, including gang connectors on the bottom of the machine. I had problems with one of my boxes with the hammer coil not firing. Ultimately, it resolved when I re-seated the gang connector on the bottom of the machine the SECOND time. But you have to be sure the hammer coils are still good (check continuity), be sure they are alligned correctly so if they do "hammer", it hits the pin. Try a non hit 200 selection and if that works, then likely your hit side hammer coil is bad. There are unfortunately many possibilities here for hammer coil not firing. Lots of detective work to do.

Thanks so much for doing these TH-cam videos, I found them very informative!! I have a 424, that is very similar to the one you use here. I have a question about the A/B side selector mechanism. Is that strictly mechanical - the alternating dog as you called it in video 1 or is there some electrical/solenoid part to it. I'm not understanding how that works. What makes it go up or down selecting side A or side B. I know that as the arm moves up and down it engages a couple of switches on the very front, but that doesn't appear to have anything to do with how it chooses side A or side B, but only with energizing the wobble plate to know which pin (inner or outer) to act on. Or does it just go around twice, if it needs to, trying each side and then when the correct pin is found on the wobble plate it stops??
Also, I have found a bad solenoid. Who or where do you recommend I get a replacement part? ....Thanks, again!!

the alternating dog as it travels up or down between the two tracts manually actuates the A-B microswitch which then sends power to the hit (A) or non hit (B) circuit board on the right in side of the circular drum. You can hear this switch click when the magazine passes thru the home position. And you can visualize the action as well. Checking continuity may be needed.
