  • First day of vacation and I have a cardio session to get in, so I decided to use my VIP gym membership to go to the Costa Mesa gym and then the beach. Decided not to stay due to traffic after hitting up the gym then Huntington Beach Bolsa Chica dog beach and went home, but I still had traffic. Thirty minutes to get to target then 15 to the beach then 90-110 minutes home from the beach. And I had to pee a lot and felt every pin prick stretch of more fluid in my bladder with each painstaking mile to my house. Sucks when in traffic like that too, because its expected and normal traffic for southern CA where most of the 40 million documented inhabitants reside and commute, but some days if you plan the trip correctly the traffic can be kept to a minimum. And don't waste the $20-30 on toll roads in afternoons, because they still have traffic from people who cut you off waiting to the last minute to get over on Tollways 241, that waze wanted me to use but I refused. I have been on that tollway many times to know it saves maybe 5 minutes and costs $20 five years ago, today who knows. Not trying it out to prove a point for this shortened documentary of beach day.
BTW some untold rules about community dog parks in general: every dog owner is on the spectrum or thinks its ok to go around and boss other dog owners around whose dog distracts their dog, and they don't like your dogs messing with their dogs. You will notice in the video the dog owners viewed from a top the hill where parking is that they are spaced apart and only intermingling with themselves. Also, don't have a picnic in dog park, even if the beach, if dogs see food or smell it they go to your spot and pee on your things, seagulls will come over and hoard around and big crows will steal your food and the same with the other birds when you aren't looking. Those are just generalities that seem to be very common and experienced myself first hand. Some dog owners are complacent and nice and mind their own business, but most are terrible, bossy, act like they own the HOA of the community, treat you aggressively and with intimidation. If you are visiting in the next few months they could have very crowded situations and news alerts often mention homeowners dumping their sewage in the waters, so watch out for otitis externa ear infections and any orifice infection from the sands and sitting on it.
Great for strolling along or working out on though, as the temperature is 15 degrees cooler than inland on average. Especially nice in hot triple digit summer months.
I have a longer version of this shortened version. That includes the traffic and what you are missing by moving away to your isolated village in a quiet state somewhere.
